Twisted Ties of Love
Chapter 278

On the fifth day after Izabella's surgery, she no longer needed others to take care of her, she could eat and get up by herself.

"I want to eat the Bolognese pasta from the street behind the University of R City."

The University of R City was where Izabella attended college. Not far from the back gate, there was a food street, and her favorite was a Italian place there. It wasn't because of the great taste, but because the lady boss of the shop looked quite like her mother, had a gentle temperament, and would softly call her "little girl."

Seeing Izabella always come to her shop, the lady boss would secretly give her some extra meat sauce and occasionally give her some fried chicken chunks to eat more.

"You remembered?" Brett's heart was shocked, and his pupils contracted slightly. The sudden panic made him flustered.

Izabella stared out of the window, smiling casually. "I wish I could remember. Will you tell me?"

Brett didn't answer, but he breathed a sigh of relief in his heart. Fortunately, Izabella hadn't regained her memory, and he feared that she would continue this topic. So, he stiffly diverted the topic. "You want to eat meat sauce noodles? There's a Italian restaurant downstairs that I see a lot of people going; I'll get someone bring it up for you."

"Get someone?" Izabella turned around, laughing at him. "Here, only the two of us, who would you look to, the health worker? Or the doctors and nurses here? Can't you just go yourself?"

Brett hesitated for a moment, seeing the impatience in Izabella's eyes. He was afraid that she wouldn't bother with him anymore.

Going downstairs to buy something is just so close, and Izabella was sick and shouldn't go anywhere. Even if she could run, she couldn't run far, especially with the health worker watching her. "Alright, I'll go get it for you." He knew Izabella's preferences.

Before Brett left, he reminded the health worker.

As soon as Brett left, Izabella stared blankly in a corner of the ward. She had her little world, but Brett was the invader who suddenly broke into it. He had used thorns to build a cage to lock her up and watched her struggle in it. The health worker came over to watch her at Brett's order.

"My stomach hurts."

When the health worker heard her complaining about the pain, her heart tightened. "Wait, I'll call the doctor right away."

"No need." Izabella stopped her. "It's all normal. I just can't stand the pain and need to take painkillers, but I don't have any. Can you go to the nurse's station and get me a few painkillers?"

The nurse's station wasn't far from here. If Izabella was going downstairs, she would have to pass through there. The health worker nodded and agreed, "Sure, I'll go to the nurse's station and get you the medicine. You lay on the bed and don't move."

"Okay." Izabella finally showed a long-lost smile in her mouth, nodding obediently.

The health worker turned around and left. Izabella stared at the corridor, making sure nobody was there, and slowly got up, moving Brett's chair to the window.

Struggling to stand, she drew back the curtain and opened the window. The cold, harsh wind blew Izabella's long hair, and her loose hospital gown fluttered in the wind. She squinted, with both of her hands on the window sill, deep in thought.

Her memory was very fragmented, and in the past few days, some pieces had appeared. She knew she had lived and grown up in R City.

Also, Izabella put her right hand on her abdomen. She had a miscarriage before, and if she remembered correctly, Brett was probably the cause of it.

The other memories were like bubbles, piled up in her brain, but when she wanted to touch them, those memories shattered instantly.

The harder it was to recall, the more it showed how terrifying and desperate her experiences before losing her memory were, desperate enough that she had to subconsciously erase her memory.

Being married to Brett should be fake, their love was fake, and growing up in an orphanage was fake, even the acquaintances of Brett and Liam were fake.

All those beautiful "memories" were created by Brett, just to deceive her, the fool.

Izabella leaned over the edge of the window, her upper body sagging outwards, looking like she could fall at any moment.

This building had eight floors, and her body was sure to die if she fell. They said that people who jump off buildings have horrible death faces; if they're lucky, they might die from broken bones, if not, their brains would splatter on the ground, their eyes wide open.

In this world, would anyone wish for her to live a healthy and happy life?

Izabella looked at the ground below, wondering how scared her baby must be all alone in the dark. He was so small, couldn't make any noise, couldn't see, and hadn't even tasted the warmth of the world before dying inside her.

Eyes brimming with tears, Izabella looked up at the sky covered by dark clouds. She had anger and sadness in her heart, but neither was strong. She felt her organs failing, making it difficult to breathe. It might have been an hallucination from the pain, but Izabella vaguely saw her child smiling at her.

"Mom, don't be sad for me. I love you."

Izabella reached out to catch the illusory figure, but she couldn't reach it. She lifted one foot up and placed it on the window ledge.

At this time, the surroundings were quiet, and there was no one downstairs. If she jumped, she would die without anyone noticing, but it would be a hassle for the police to clean up her filthy body.
