Los Angeles, California

Rick Camden sat on the bed in his hotel room, pushed his hand through his short, blond hair and waited for the police to arrive.

He looked around the room and spotted his empty bags and clothes strewn across the floor. The Black and White Tour had only been going on for a few weeks now and every time they had stopped at a hotel, Rick’s room had been broken into and a note left behind. Rick picked up the note again with two fingers and read its contents. It was just like the others, disgusting.

Rick my love,

I have walked through your room, lain on your bed and held your clothes in my arms. But one day soon, it’s all going to be real. I’m going to hold YOU in my arms. But until then I’m content knowing that I will one day have you. I’m watching you. You can’t hide.

It wasn’t signed, as usual.

He flung the note on the bed just as there was a knock on the door. Rick got up and walked to the door.

“Hey Jason. Thanks for coming.” Rick said allowing the guy in and shaking his hand before giving him a slap on the back.

“That’s Sergeant Kincaid to you buddy.” He said, his green eyes twinkling.

Sergeant Jason Kincaid was one of Rick’s closest friends for the past thirteen years. The twenty-four year old was a native of Florida and Rick’s neighbour and friend for a long time before moving to Los Angeles to be a COP. Every time Rick was in LA, they would try to meet and catch up.

“Sometimes I still can’t believe that you’re a COP.” Rick told him as they walked into the room.

“Yeah well, you’re in a boy band.” Jason teased.

“I prefer musical group.” Rick replied, turning to him.

“Anyway, it’s at times like this when you can be happy that you have a friend who is a COP. The press would have a field day if they found out about this.” Jason said, “Is that the note?” he added then, pointing to the piece of paper on the bed.

“Yeah.” Rick said picking it up and handing it to him.

Jason read the note and raised his eyebrows.

“Well, it looks like you’ve got yourself an admirer.” He commented.

Rick rolled his eyes.

“No kidding.”

“Is anything missing, stolen?” Jason asked then.

“No, I looked through all my things and everything seems to be here.” Rick said motioning to everything around them.

“And you told me that this is not the first time that this has happened.” Jason stated.

“No. Twice before. In a hotel in Florida and then New York.” Rick told him, “Nothing was missing then either. But I did get a note exactly like this on both occasions.” He added.

Jason thought about this for a moment.

“Rick, couldn’t this just be a practical joke that one of the guys are playing on you?” Jason asked, “I mean, where are the rest of fellas? Why aren’t they at the hotel?”

“The guys all decided to go out tonight and I didn’t feel like going so I stayed in. If this was a practical joke would they have kept it up this long?” Rick asked his hands on his hips. “Besides, when I asked them about it, they all looked confused and worried as well. I don’t think this is a joke Jason.”

“Okay Rick.” Jason said folding his arms and facing him. “What exactly do you think this person is going to do to you?”

Rick looked at him, eyes wide.

“I don’t know!” he said throwing his arms up, “You’re asking me to go into the mind of an apparently crazed and obsessed girl!”

Jason actually smiled at him.

“How do you even know that this is a girl?” he asked Rick.

Rick practically blanched.

“You're right. I don't.”

“But it’s true. We don’t know. I mean, there is a lot of psychos out there Rick!” he said not containing his laughter one bit.

“Well, I’m glad you’re enjoying this.” Rick said roughly, “Someone could be trying to kidnap me or kill me… and all you can do is stand there and laugh!”

“Look Rick,”Jason said sobering up, “I’m sorry. I’m just looking at this situation of yours logically that’s all. I mean, you’re a Bayside Boy, crazed fans are the norm for you. So you got a strange note and your room is a little messy. Nothing is missing and you’re not hurt, so what’s the problem?”

Rick thought about this for a while.

“I guess you’re right.” He said with a sigh, “Maybe it’s nothing. But..”

“What?” Jason asked looking at his serious face.

“I know this sounds weird but I keep getting the feeling that I’m being watched.” Rick said.

“Rick-“

“I know it’s strange because I’m like on the top floor and stuff but you know there could be hidden cameras.” He said.

Jason laughed.

“I was trying to be serious.” Rick said upset that he wasn’t being taken seriously.

“I know, that’s what makes it so funny.” Jason replied. “Look Rick, if it’s really bothering you that much why don’t I come by tomorrow and we can talk about it some more and see if we figure anything out okay?” he asked his friend.

“Okay.”Rick returned, walking Jason over to the door, “Jason, I’m really worried about this.”

“I can see that.” Jason said stopping at the door. “Look, you’re tired. Get some rest and we’ll talk about it tomorrow.”

“Thanks Jas. Goodnight.” Rick said.

“Goodnight.” Jason said walking out the door. When he was walking into the elevator he pulled out his cell phone and dialled a number, when someone answered, he grinned mischievously.

“You guys are so cruel. That boy is scared to death.” Jason said, he could picture the face on the other end smiling.

“Good. He deserves it.” A voice answered.
