“Do you think Alex won’t learn about your situation for the rest of his life? Caroline persisted. “He’ll find out sooner or later.”

Stunned, Caroline asked, “You’re going abroad? But Evan’s hospital is as good as the ones abroad.”

“I don’t want to stay here and dwell on my lost child since I’ve aborted here. Stop trying to persuade me, Carol.” Misery crept into Paige’s voice.

Helplessly, Caroline stopped trying because she knew how memories could evoke sadness. “I’ll stop since you’ve made up your mind. When are you leaving?”

“I will tell my parents about this. It’s best if I leave as soon as possible,” Paige replied.

Caroline returned to Bayview Villa after driving Paige home.

Upon reaching home, she noticed Alex s car as well.

After staring at the car for a moment, she entered the villa.

Alex and Evan were in the living room, and they looked over when they heard the door.

When Alex saw Caroline, he immediately stood up guiltily. “I’m sorry, Caroline. I didn’t think it through

yesterday.”

Caroline gave him a complicated look. “You don’t have to apologize because I understand your feelings.”

Helplessly, Alex clenched his fists. “I came today because-

“I know. It’s about Paige.” Caroline sat down on the sofa. “But I respect all of Paige’s decisions.”

Alex also took a seat. “I know you respect her because you guys are besties, but can you tell me what happened since I’m her fiance‘ and I’ve diligently taken good care of her?”

After a restless night, Caroline had a headache from Alex’s endless questions.

“I can’t tell you, Alex. I’ve promised to keep it a secret,” Caroline said helplessly.

Caroline shook her head, ready to refuse.
