Evan couldn’t restrain himself from raising his fist.

At that moment, he heard a crashing sound behind him, turned to the kitchen abruptly, chest tightening with anxiety, and let go of Scott to walk over.

Caroline was picking up broken pieces of a bowl in the kitchen.

Evan scooped her up swiftly. Failing to vent his anger, he shouted, “Are you trying to injure yourself?”

Shocked, Caroline replied, “Why are you so angry? I’m just cleaning up.

Agitated, Evan said, “Get the maid to do this from now on!”

“Hire a maid then!” Evan snapped.

Caroline was unfazed. “Someone needs to clean up the broken glass now, right? Am I supposed to leave

it for the maid tomorrow?”

“I’ll do it!” Evan found a broom next to the door, walked over to take it, and began sweeping the glass

shards.

“Say what you want. You clean up while I continue to cook,” Caroline said.

Soon, steaming hot pasta was served. Caroline called out to Scott to join them. Kenny coincidentally

came downstairs.

Kenny complained, “G, how dare you cook supper without including me!”

Caroline replied, “There’s some left in the pot. You can have it, too.”

“That sounds about right. Scott, you’re here too!” Kenny said.

Caroline sighed. “Just eat.”

Kenny decided to stir the pot and asked Scott, “What brings you here so late?”

Scott replied, “Nothing much. I just came to deliver something, and Carol took the trouble to cook supper

for me.”

“Why are you being a stranger? You used to cook for G frequently when we were in Spania, and G would

also cook you supper, right? Kenny said.
