Chapter 621 Are You Giving up on Alec Too?

"You should go back to Bardoff City." Paul's voice sounded behind Jenny, and she turned back to look at him, surprised. "There's no point staying here," he said, making Jenny frown. She looked at him. "This is my business."

She didn't think they were close enough for her to heed his suggestions.

"Idiot," Paul said. "Alec's been targeted for murder. It's obvious that he's wronged someone and that someone is not from Parrington."

These past two days, he had gone over Parrington with a fine-toothed comb. It was definitely not someone from Parrington. The only other possibility was someone from Bardoff City.

"I don't know whose anger he invoked in Bardoff City. But you should know. I want you to investigate things clearly when you're back," Paul said. Jenny was about to speak, but he continued. "There's no sign o Alec here. That means he might not be dead. He might have been taken away. If you find them, you might be able to rescue him."

It was not impossible. What if their motives all along were not to kill but to kidnap? It would explain why they could not find Alec.

Jenny frowned. After careful consideration, she thought that it was a likely possibility. She looked at Paul with a mixture of confusion. She was a little surprised. "Why are you helping me?"

"Helping you?" It was as if Paul had heard a joke. "I'm helping Alec. He's my best friend. I wouldn't just sit back and watch if something happened to him."

However, his abilities were limited. He didn't have many lackeys in Bardoff City. He had no other reason to tell Jenny all this.

"Aren't you angry that Alec didn't help you when I took Stephanie away from you?" Jenny was curious to know how Paul's mind worked.

"It doesn't matter if I'm mad. He's my best friend. I will not sit back and do nothing.' He could be mad at Alec for not helping him before, but that didn't change the fact that he wanted to rescue him. It made Jenny look at him a little differently. Maybe he wasn't all that bad.

She nodded. "Alright. I'll investigate once I get back. You'll have to hold down the fort in Parrington."

"Alright." Paul nodded. He watched her leave. Then, he said, "Take care of Stephanie. I'll be in Bardoff City as soon as I can."

Jenny's back stiffened. She didn't think that was a good thing.

She left, but Paul still stood on the cliff. He looked at the raging waters below. 'I hope you got the right person, Alec.'

He sincerely hoped that Jenny would find a lead. His instincts told him that Alec's disappearance definitely had something to do with Jenny.

It could even be the Walters' doing. They would want to prevent them from being together. If that really were the case, Jenny's decisions would be critical.

Jenny had no idea that Paul was suspicious of the Walters. She believed in Graham. She wouldn't think that he would commit such a heinous act. Her suspicions were cast on the Glasses. Right now, they were the likeliest to do such a thing.

With this thought in mind, she booked a flight back to Bardoff City. But before that, she visited the hospital to see Old Mr. Faust.

He looked even frailer than before, probably because of Alec's disappearance. Jenny was worried. "Grandpa."

"You're here. Sit down, Jenny," Old Mr. Faust said. He did his best to smile but failed.

"I'm going back to Bardoff City, Grandpa," Jenny said.

Old Mr. Faust's hand paused midair. 'Are you giving up on Alec too?"
