Kadi woke up by the sound of someone knocking on his door.

“What...?” His voice sounded as broken as his head felt.

“We have received a distress call from Alpha Motra, they have been attacked by the Kashr, although they managed to dislodge them, some onboard systems have failed. They are asking if we have space to house some women?”

These words woke him up immediately. It wasn’t often that they were attacked by others, and when it happened, it was never by the Kashr. Their weapons, weren’t nearly strong enough to attack any of their ships.

Yautja, on the other hand, did go for the attack. If those headhunters were hunting in a small hunting group, you didn’t want to run into them.

Kadi, encountered them once, but that was more enough. He wasn’t a small, weak little guy, but those clicking bastards were bigger, a lot stronger and damn fast, and… they had cloaking technology, which gave them a head start most of the time.

The only reason Kadi survived the encounter, was purely because he had a better nose and sharper ears, and although the Yautja hunter had approached him almost silently, he had smelled him just in time. This gave Kadi the chance to duck and grab his own weapon. Although it had been a short but fierce firefight, he was able to shoot the hunter it’s leg, giving him the chance to get to his ship and to get away. It left a nice scar on his cheek, though.

“Tell them, we’ve got room for 18 women, and that they got to pick them up at Rova. I’m not going to take a detour.”

It took them several hours to relocate and to house the new women, and just as they were about to close up and head off again, Motra asked if he had room for one more woman.

One of his men had tried to secure the woman to his own quarters, against the rules, and her will.

Kadi sight, where the hell was he supposed to house this one. Dox, who was standing close by, realized this could be a win-win situation for the new woman and the alpha’s mate.

“Alpha, if I may speak.” Dox held his head down in submission and waited for Kadi’s permission to speak.

“Maybe she could stay in your room, that way your mate isn’t alone all the time…” Kadi looked at the boy, that bowed his head in submission.

Dox was right, this could be a win-win situation, he was aware his mate felt lonely. He hadn’t seen her after he’d promised Ivac not to touch her, ’cause he knew if he would see or smell her, he’d jump her like a horny dog. That’s why he slept in his office the last couple of night, which was exhausting to say the least, there was no way to lay down, besides the floor…

“You’re with me…, I want to tell her in person she’s getting a new roommate…” And he needed Dox to be his back-up, in case he wanted to jump her right then and there, not that the boy would be able to hold him back, or would have the guts to do so… But it was the idea of it, right…?

The moment they entered his room, and she got sight of him, her eyes started to fill with rage, and within seconds he saw her striding his way.

“Don’t you…” Before he could finish that sentence, her hand had already smacked him hard in the face.

“ASSHOLE…!! YOU FUCKING SON OF A BITCH…!! I’M NOT SOME KIND OF WHORE YOU CAN FUCK, AND THEN JUST DUMP IN A ROOM ALL BY HERSELF!!”

And without hesitation she hit him had in the face again, not caring if he would be furious, or there was another person with them.

His blood started to boil, not only out of anger, but also because of her tantalizing scent and the furious look in her eyes, her anger turned him on massively. Slowly his fangs and claws started to elongate, his head sank down between his shoulders in an attack mode.

Oooohhhh, shit!! Now what?! Dox saw things starting to escalate, and before he realized, he darted around his Alpha and stood between the two. His heart was pounding in his throat, if Kadi wanted to, he could easily break his neck, Dox could only hope his Alpha’s common sense still prevailed.

“Alpha, you wanted to tell her something, remember?”

The fear in the boy’s eyes and voice brought Kadi back to the here and now, and he closed his eyes to regain control. That woman was driving him crazy, he had to get the fuck out of there, or he wouldn’t be able to control himself. His whole being wanted only one thing, to be with her, to feel her, to taste her, to hold her never to let go. Goddess! How could this happen to him…?

Gwen saw her “mate” losing control, but before she could do anything, the young man who had been looking out for her, had placed himself between them and tried to calm his Alpha, miraculously the lad succeeded.

He took a deep breath and slowly opened his eyes, Dox was still standing between him and his mate. The boy was slightly trembling, but held his ground, Kadi admired the boys’ courage, he would be one hell of a Bèta when he grew up. He made a mental note to talk to Bors about him tutoring the kid, but for now there were other things to do.

He signalled Dox to step aside, and took a step towards his mate.

“I didn’t “dump” you in this room, like a whore…” He hissed trough clenched jaws.

“Trust me…, there’s nothing else I’d rather would do than to stay in this room with you and have my way with you, like a proper mate would do… But I made a promise, not to touch you until we’re back on Rova. But for now…, you’re going to have a roommate.”

He expected her to start yelling and cursing again, but she didn’t, she just looked at, surprise written all over her face.

“Hold on…” His words had startled her.

“The thought of another woman is fine by me, I could use a little company, but “having your way with me like a proper mate” and making a promise not to touch me….? I’m sorry, but who the hell do you think you are…?” Slowly, Gwen felt her anger resurface again.

Dox heart dropped and he held his breath. His whole body tensed up again, seeing the female’s eyes started to fire up again. Oh no, not again!

But before Kadi could react, there was a knock on the door.

Behind Bors stood a tiny woman with short hair, she looked a little like his mate, but what startled Kadi was her bruised up face, split lip and her scent, his anger spike by the look of her beaten up face.

“Who did this?” He grabbed her chin, before Bors could answer, the woman snapped at him.

“LET… ME… GO…BOY, OR… I… WILL… KICK… YOUR… ASS!” Both Bors and Dox helt their breath, holy shit, another spitfire…

Kadi released her chin. Watch your back boy, you never know who’s behind you…Never lose your temper boy, you will lose focus… Maybe you should try talking, instead of using your fists, boy…

Why did the words of his fathers pop up, and why was her scent throwing him off guard?

“Get, inside…” He commanded the woman.

“Dox, it’s your responsibility to take care of her as well.” And he strode of, back to his office, he had to get away from both women.

Bors and Dox made sure the new woman was settled down and followed their Alpha shortly after, there was something strange going on with their Alpha and those two women.

One was his mate, so him behaving unlike his own shitty self around her, wasn’t that strange, but his behaviour towards the older one was weird. The way he immediately let go of her face when she demanded and not being pissed off by her words…

Bors ordered Dox to go to the mess, to get the three of them something to eat, he wanted to talk to Kadi alone.

“What’s going on, friend?” Bors carefully closed the door behind him.

Kadi was seated in his chair, his long legs rested on the desk in front of him, he leaned backwards and his arms supported his head.

“I truly don’t know, Bors…, I really don’t… know…” He looked his friend straight in the eyes.

“Seeing her bruised up face, pissed me off massively, and I really don’t know why. But there’s something in her scent making me want to protect her. And no…, there are no sexual feelings involved, more…, I don’t know, a familiar feeling… I can’t explain…”
