Chapter 133: The Bargain With Darkness 

Knox POV 

Before I could defend myself, our father stepped forward, his presence a calming force in the midst of the storm. 

“Kane, please,” he sighed, his voice gentle but firm. “This isn’t helping anyone. We need to focus on finding a solution, not assigning blame.” 

“No, pops. He is right!” I admitted, feeling my heart sink. “I chose wrong, this whole cluster fuck of a situation is my fault. If I 

hadn’t let that little cunt get to me.” I seethed looking over at Mike as he sat on the ground beside Anthony, looking too smug for my liking. “Havoc wouldn’t have felt the need to act like a feral beast and this shit would never have happened.” 

“He would have found a way.” Adam piped up from the corner of the room, reminding me he was there. “From what Anthony here has said, he had this shit planned for a while.” 

“And let’s not pretend the dickweed doesn’t have a beating coming.” Liam interjected smirking down at Mike before kicking his foot to get his attention.

“Or the pups.” Kane added, his tone softer this time. 

“I didn’t know about that; if I had… Fuck Kane!” I breathed a sob escaping my throat. “What have I done!” 

“Top yourself?” My father asked, his voice almost as broken as I felt. Turning to see my father frozen, his eyes widening in shock. I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded. Turning to face the others, knowing they wouldn’t look at me the same again. An Alpha should be strong, not weak! I gasped seeing the remaining sparrow 

brothers looking at me with compassion. 

“We all have low moments, mate.” Adam nodded, slapping me on the shoulder. “I was in the same head space not so long ago. I get it!” I wasn’t a guy who liked to be emotionally vulnerable, so nodding and biting my cheek to stop me from letting out the choked sob I was holding back, was the best I could do in a way of 

a reply. 

“Nothing to be ashamed of, but don’t worry Knox, it will never leave this room.” Liam added before turning to look at the captives

we had in the corner a sinister smile playing on his lips. “I will see to that! Happily!” He added, stepping towards my father’s best friend and Beta. Sensing my father stepping closer to me, I expected him to intervene as we hadn’t filled him in on Anthony’s treachery yet. 

“Knox…” he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. “You were going to… to end your own life?” His words took me by surprise. 

“I didn’t though, I just thought about taking the deal to end the pain, Pops.” I admitted, blurting the words out quickly. “Lottie and Kane interrupted us and prevented the demon from ending my I ́ suffering, but I agreed to it nonetheless.” I could see the realisation 

dawning on my father’s face and had to look away, not wanting to see the disappointment carved on his face, knowing the image would be committed to memory forever. 

“But you were going too?” He repeated his voice sounding pained, like he had suddenly aged. Knowing I had to answer, I nodded, unable to speak past the lump in my throat. As I looked into my father’s tear–filled eyes, I realised that his silence wasn’t born of shame, but of heartbreak. Heartbreak at the thought of losing me, his son, his flesh and blood. 

“I’m sorry, Pops,” I whispered after a moment of silence, the words a barely audible plea for forgiveness. “I didn’t know what else to do.” I saw something shift in my brother’s expression. Not forgiveness, not yet. But it’s something softer, something more

“You’re an idiot, you know that!” Kane barked, pulling me into his arms to hold me close, my father striding into us, his large arms squeezing us together, a smirk licking at the edge of my lips as the first flicker of hope ignited within me. 

“We’ll figure this out, Knox,” Kane murmured, his voice a soothing balm against the wounds of my guilt. 

“Together. We’ll find a way to make this right.” My father added, the three of us nodding in a silent pact. 

“As cute as this family bonding moment is, can we address the fact that your pack has gone to shit! That your Beta is tied and restrained, evidently beaten and not healing.” Sebastian cut through the air, popping the bubble of peace and dropping us back to the most unwelcome reality we now lived in. 

“That is the cuffs I have on him” Liam scoffed proudly. 

“Cuffs?” Sebastian stated his voice laced with disgust, “You used the royal cuffs on him? Isn’t that a crime?” He added his lips pulling tightly together. 

“Chill little cousin, we borrowed them, is all.” Adam laughed leaning back against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest. 

“Cousin?” Kane asked, pulling from our family embrace to look

“Half Cousin.” Sebestain quickly Informed us. The distaste in his voice at being associated with the Sparrow Brothers was evident. Liam opened his mouth to reply, and I had no doubt it would be a sarcastic retort, but my Father cut him off, moving to stand before Anthony, his eyes locked on the traitor, his expression. unreadable. 

“Do you have any more of the cuffs?” My father asked his eyes boring into Mike with hatred while refusing to meet Anthony’s stare. 

“Nope, why?” Adam asked casually. 

“Very well, bind the pup to stop him spewing any more of his poison and bring them to the kitchen. Family meeting… Now!” My father roared before turning his back on his lifelong friend, ignoring his mumbled pleas for help. 

“And so help me goddess, no one will be leaving that table until you have all filled me in on the shit we are in so we can work out who has taken my fucking daughter–in–law.” He snapped, “And my grandbaby.” 

“Babies.” I winked at my father, his eyes shooting to mine and despite the anger he was giving off I swear I saw a smile painting his lips.
