The Shadow Howlers
Chapter 32 - Reunited

Sabnac could feel the two sisters’ fear and it fueled him like gasoline. He walked toward them, but they were too scared to move. Sabnac looked at Psyche.

“I need you to stay out here. I don’t want you to die too.” She looked at him in surprise.

“I’ll be honest, I’m surprised you care.” She replied as they stopped walking. Sabnac winked at her.

“I typically wouldn’t, but you’ve always been kind to me and treated me like a person. No one in any realm has done that. You’re a good person Psyche, and you deserve to be happy. Those two witches don’t deserve the same. Please stay here.” Psyche nodded and stayed where she was while Sabnac continued toward her sisters. When he was only a few yards away, they ran into the house and slammed the door shut.

Psyche smiled as she watched him kick in the door. She never judged people based on rumors, she liked to form her own opinions of them. Those from the underworld deserved the same respect as everyone else. Sabnac was a ruthless demon, but that was because his creator made him that way. That didn’t mean he didn’t have a heart. He just proved that he did by keeping her safe. When she heard things breaking in the house Psyche’s smile grew. Aglaura and Cidippe would never hurt anyone ever again.

Sabnac walked through the house. The women were hiding, but he could sense them. He broke the things in their house as he went. It was all theatrics, but he liked causing as much fear as possible. He stomped up the stairs. He was almost to them.

“Come out, come out wherever you are. It’s time for you to die a painfully slow death. Have you thought about all the pain you’ve caused people? I hope you have because you’re about to experience it for yourselves.” Sabnac stood outside the room where they were hiding. He pulled out the bag of poison he brought especially for them. He kicked the door open and the women screamed. They threw things at him but he swatted them away.

“Get away from us. We’re goddesses you can’t kill us,” Aglaura yelled at him. Sabnac smiled as he opened the bag in his hand.

“I’m well aware of who and what you are. That’s why I have a special poison I made just for you. Enjoy your death.” He poured the fine powder over them, and nothing happened. The two women laughed as they stood up.

“Looks like the joke is on you. Your stupid poison didn’t work.” Ciddipe said as they walked toward him.

“Are you sure about that?” Sabnac asked as he smiled and leaned against the wall. He pointed at their bodies. When they looked down they couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Their bodies were melting. They screamed as the poison began to make them feel like they were burning. Sabnac watched them until they were nothing more than a bubbling puddle.

“Farewell, evil witches.” He took a deep breath and breathed out fire onto the puddle. The room erupted into flames as he walked away. He’d chosen the poison he used because it was less likely to spread, so it wouldn’t affect Psyche. When he walked outside the house was all in flames. Psyche walked over to him with a smile.

“Thank you. You saved me and my daughter. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.” She took his hand, and Sabnac smiled.

“Just keep being you. That’s all that I ask. Take care of yourself, Psyche. If Eros ever pisses you off let me know, and I’ll make a special poison just for him.” He patted her shoulder as he walked away. Psyche chuckled lightly. Sabnac was one of the most terrifying beings she had ever met, but at the same time, he had a big heart. Even if he didn’t want to admit it. It was time for her to go home.

Psyche closed her eyes, and when she opened them she was standing outside Eros’s house. It was time to see her man. She swore if she found him with another woman she would call Sabnac back. Before she and Eros had met he was known for sleeping with as many women as he could. When they fell in lovehe swore he had changed, and she was the only one for him. Psyche just hoped that was still the case.

She opened the front door and tiptoed inside. She didn’t hear anything at first so she headed toward Eros’ office. When she was outside the door she listened. She felt wrong for eavesdropping, but she had to know that he still loved her before she trusted him with her heart again. When she didn’t hear anything she knocked on the door.

“Come in,” Eros said. Psyche took a deep breath and walked in. Eros didn’t look up until the door closed. When he saw Psyche he thought he was dreaming. He rubbed his eyes and stood up.

“Is it really you?” He asked as he walked around his desk. She smiled and took a few steps toward him.

“It’s really me. My sisters are dead. Selena is safe now, and we can be together. That is if you still want me.” Eros closed the distance between them and pulled Psyche into his arms. When his body shook against her, she looked up and was shocked to see he was crying.

“I was so scared I would never see you again. I love you so much.” Eros kissed her hard. Psyche melted against him. She has missed him so much. His hands slid down her body and held her bottom. He always loved her firm round butt.

“I love you too.” She said when he pulled away. Eros stroked her face and kissed her again.

“I’m glad you got rid of your sister but Selena isn’t safe yet,” Eros told her as he led her to the couch. He couldn’t believe he finally had Psyche back. She was the other half of his heart, and he had been lost without her.

“What do you mean? Now that they’re gone she should be okay.” Eros shook his head, and Psyche felt sick. Who else was after their daughter?

“Your sisters enlisted the help of Eris and Achyls. I’m not too worried about Eris but Achyls is ruthless. Nyx, Hermes, and Helios are on Earth to help them but if she calls in her witchesit may not be enough. We have to think of something to help them.” Eros pulled Psyche onto his lap as she cried. As bad as Aglaura and Cidippe were they were no comparison to Achlys. They held onto each other as their hearts broke fearing that Salena wouldn’t come out of this alive. They agreed they would figure out a way to help her. They just hoped whatever they did it would be enough.
