Chapter 29 - The Poison

“What do you mean he’s your mate? You’re not a damn shifter,” Helios yelled at Nyx while he glared at Lachlan.

“I don’t have to be a shifter to have a mate. I’m his mate and I’m accepting him. Now get the fuck out of our room before I make you regret it. I was never your woman. We were only together a few times and you were with many others during that time. You have no right to come here thinking you own me.” Nyx was speaking low as her fury grew. One thing she couldn’t stand was a man treating a woman like an object. She glanced at Lachlan, and he was leaning against the wall beaming at her. She would show him later how much she appreciated him letting her fight her own battles. She didn’t want a man that treated her like a fragile piece of glass.

“You know I have needs, and you weren’t always around. I can control myself now, and I’ll be faithful to only you.”Helios knew he wouldn’tbe able to give up other women even as he said the words. He just didn’t want Nyx to be with someone else. He had thought that she had been waiting for him all the time they were apart.

“That’s a lie, and you know it. You’ll be between the legs of the first woman you see when you leave our room. Get out Helios. If we’re going to work together to help Selena, then you need to learn boundaries. All the women here have mates, so that means hands off. You better go to one of the local towns to find some unsuspecting female.” Nyx was getting angrier the longer he stayed. She finally had a man who would be only hers andshe didn’t have time to deal with Helios.

“Fine, but when you realize you’re not mate material, you know where to find me.” Helios turned to leave. Once the door shut, the darkness was lifted, and the sunlight returned.

“You’re incredible,” Lachlan said, walking over to Nyx. She smiled as he took her in his arms.

“No, you’re incredible. Thank you for letting me take care of Helios myself.” She slid her hands under his shirt, and Lachlan moaned. He had only been with a couple of women, but the last one had been over a year ago. None of them could compare to how Nyx made him feel.

“I think it’s pretty clear to everyone that you’re one badass goddess. I want to worship you, my goddess,” Lachlan unzipped Nyx’s dress and let it fall. She stood in front of him in nothing but black panties. He licked his lips as he stared at her. They were going to shower, but he wanted to do something first. He lifted her in his arms and carried her to the bed.

“I thought we were going to shower,” Nyx said as he gently laid her on her back. Lachlan pulled her to the edge of the bed, slid her panties off, and leaned over.

“We will in a few minutes. Right now I’m hungry, and there’s only one item on the menu.” Nyx’s eyes widened when Lachlan smiled and put his head between her legs.

She moaned loudly as he licked along her slit. Nyx spread her legs further apart as Lachlan began licking and sucking her. She squirmed from the pleasure that washed over her body. It was more intense than anything she’d ever felt. When he slid a finger inside her while sucking her clit she lost it. Nyx put her hand in his thick hair and held his head where it was as her orgasm hit. She screamed his name as he continued licking her. He raised his head and smiled when he was done.

“Are you ready for that shower now?” He asked, licking his lips. Nyx got up, pulled Lachlan’s shirt off, and removed his pants and boxers before he could blink.

“Take me to the shower. It’s time for the big wolf to get inside the only home he’ll ever know from now on.” She said, wrapping her hand around his already very large erection. They had a lot to do with Eris and figuring out who poisoned Alani and Bianca, but first, she was going to claim her man.

Helios stomped away from Nyx’s room angrily. Andrew and the others watched in disbelief. When they greeted him and told him Nyx was with her mate, he instantly became angry.

“I told you she has a mate,” Andrew said. Trisha and Polly were unsure how to take the large god as they watched him with interest.

“I know, but I thought she had been waiting for me. I didn’t think she would be able to find anyone that compared to me.” Helios pouted.

“Well, aren’t you an arrogant ass? Why on Earth would she wait for someone who, from what we’ve heard, has made his way through most of the women in both realms?” Alani was careful with her words in front of Trisha and Polly. Helios shrugged.

“I like women. What’s wrong with that? I can’t help it that I know how to please them. Do you want me to show you?” Omar growled as Helios smiled at Alani.

“Come near her, and you’re dead,” Omar warned. Helios held his hands up.

“Don’t worry, Nyx already told me that all of you were mated. So what can I help with?” Andrew let out a sigh of relief. Helios chased every woman he could, but when it came down to it he had a good heart and would help anyone who needed it.

“We just discovered that Eris has been sneaking around the palace playing tricks on us. She pretended to be one of the staff here. We need to find her or find a way to keep her out. We also need to find out who poisoned Alani and Bianca. I don’t believe it was Eris because she plays tricks, but she doesn’t typically kill people.” Andrew explained. Helios looked at the two women and walked toward them. Their mates began growling so he stopped.

“I just want to see what realm the poison was from. Let me touch your hair. I should be able to see if it came from my realm or the underworld.” He said. The two women walked to him while Gunnar and Omar stayed close by. Helios stroked their heads gently and then backed up.

“It came from my realm, although I can’t tell you who gave it to you I can tell you who made it.” He said as he shook his hands. There were still traces of the poison in the two women’s hair and it made his hands numb.

“Who made it?” Bianca asked.

“Achlys. She’s known as the spirit of misery and sadness, but she’s also the goddess of deadly poisons. If I’m right and she made this poison, your trouble is only just beginning.” Helios said.

“No one likes to ask Achlys for help because she’ll poison them just for the fun of it.If she’s willing to help the sisters, then she has something big planned, and it could kill us all.” Andrew explained.

“Uh, you’re forgetting one key piece of information,” Helios interrupted. Everyone turned to him as Andrew closed his eyes and groaned. He knew what Helios was going to say.

“What’s that?” Gunnar asked. Helios smiled slightly.

“Achlys is Nyx’s daughter.”
