Chapter 23: Now or Never

Blood splashed in the air and dust rose as the huge figure fell to the ground. Silus felt a sharp paralyzing pain in his head, things got blurry in his left eye and blood filled it. Before he could even pull himself together Nikita was already coming for him from above sword first. He rolled to the left and jumped many paces back still trying to clear the confusion the hit had caused him.

Shit, I underestimated that one he thought holding his left eye with his hand

Realizing his swords had fallen off when he was hit left him with only one option if he wanted to make it out of this alive

Damnit, no other way, I’ll to finish fast before it consumes me he lifted his right hand up towards his mouth and as he was about to bite into it he realized Tom was missing from the people in front of him

Tom emerged from his blind spot, the side where Silus was no longer unable to see. He swung his bat with all his might but was dodged and swiftly countered. Silus gave him a powerful kick that of a desperate animal about to be cornered. The kick landed in his stomach causing him gush blood out of his mouth before his body flew up like a weightless cushion. He had been knocked out. Nikita and Xin took off as fast as they could. Tanya knelt down and breathed in, she pulled the trigger. Seeing how he was already being attacked Silus could not finish Tom off because he planned on waiting for him to fall and welcoming him with the final strike before he hit the ground. Instead he turned to the three attacking him. Biting into his hand he dodged Tanya’s bullet as his skin filled with veins. His speed had drastically increased he nearly caught Nikita and Xin off guard.Nikita went head on and Xin took the extreme left which was his blind spot. Silus immediately switched lanes and went for Xin while keeping Nikita in his sights.

He clashed with Xin by nearly landing a perfect hay maker. Xin dodged by a strand of hair nearly losing his balance. The moment he regained it Silus was onto him with a mealie of punches. There was no wayof fighting back because any movement that wasn’t defense would cause him to be hit. Nikita continued on ahead and slid down just in time to catch Tom who was already unconscious. She gently lay him down and took off back in Xin’s direction. Tanya was trying to take aim but it was impossible due to the quick movement between Silus and Xin, she feared she might shoot the wrong person. Xin was beginning to tire from all the evasive action. Instead of slowing down, Silus was getting faster. He began growling and smoke rising from his body. Nikita threw her swords at him but he nicely dodged them and appeared in front of her .

her eyes widened and was given a powerful blow with sent her back the way she came. Fortunately she managed to stop the fall by sliding on the ground.

A line of blood flowed down her mouth. Even though she had stopped the fall she had gotten damage. Xin was gasping for air from the extreme motion he had just undergone. Silus was now standing between them. Xin prepared with his swords and Nikita unarmed.Things were happening so fast for all of them that catching a breath had to be done in those few seconds of rest.

This feels like the war again Xin thought as he fought for his breathing to calm down

If we don’t finish him now he’s gonna take us out, unlike him we have limits. Aaarrggg my stomach must have broken a rib Nikita gripped her stomach through her blouse

Those guys are already too exhausted, what can I do to help Tanya thought as she griped her sniper there is no way I will stand a chance out there ill just be an obstacle

Xin looked at Nikita then at Tanya who was pulled out of her negative thoughts. Xin nodded at her, she couldn’t believe it but he was counting on her. Even though he hadn’t said a word she could understand what he was saying loud and clear. A tear escaped her eye and she nodded back. She corked her sniper and the empty clip fell out. The moment it hit the ground. Nikita’s swords were already flying in Silus’s direction he dodged them and as he refocused on them he felt a sharp pain on the thigh a bullet had pierced his left leg.

“Aaaahhhh” he pressed against the wound

The odds were not looking to be in his favor. Having three enemies in different directions attacking at the same time took tremendous skill to fight them all at once.

That girl is the main problem, I can handle these two but her..I have to find a way to take her out he contemplated seeing how Tanya’s presence would lead to his defeat

He looked around and spotted his swords, they weren’t far from where he was but with how skilled his opponents were, if he wasn’t careful they would take him out before reaching them. Without any hint of his next move he kicked up the sand raising a cloud of dust. Xin charged in the direction he was sure is where Silus was headed. The monstrous man picked up his swords and from the dust cloud emerged Xin and Nikita one after the other.

How did they get there so fast Tanya’s eyes widened

Swords clashed in the dust cloud and the more vigorous the fight got the more dust rose up. Silus was making sure to stir it up with every step he took, this way Tanya won’t be bale to see him clearly. The light from the full moon was now the only source of light they had. The longer he evaded, blocked or attacked Xin and Nikita’s strength got closer to their limit. He finally gained the upper hand on them and stroke them, they blocked but were knocked away by the sheer force of the swing. Nikita kept coughing blood as she lay on the ground, she was too exhausted and injured to her up while Xin had blocked and clashed with so many powerful swings from Silus that his hands were shaking and refusing to grip his katana. Silus looked at Nikita who lay helpless on the ground and smiled

“I’ll save you for last” he said and looked back at Xin who could barely stand

Standing with wobbly knees and trembling hands, Xin didn’t see himself making it out of this alive. So with the last strength he had he forceful gripped his sword. They advanced towards each other, this was going to be the deciding blow in their duel.

“Xin aarrrg you idiot you won’t aarrrgg” Nikita coughed more blood trying to speak

Silus smiled as the distance between them narrowed, he knew he was going in for the kill and there was nothing standing in his way, or was there. Just as he prepared to strike a bullet grazed his nose and he drew back. Turning to look at Tanya he frowned,

Damnit that little another bullet came grazing his right cheek now

“Are you taunting me, you’ll regret this” Silus blurted out with rage and ran in Tanya’s direction

“Nooo what are do aaarrrgg” Xin fell to his knees but kept trying to stand up “its me you want”

Silus threw his swords down, he wanted to rip her heart out with his bare hands. Tanya stood up as he got closer, she stood there still and wasn’t even flinching

“How?” Xin said in awe, why wasn’t she afraid

“Look closely” Nikita said and Xin’s eyes widened accompanied by a smile

Silus jumped for the kill. Fingers of his right hand pointed out so as to bore through her chest. When he was almost onto her she knelt down and it was at that moment he knewhe had fucked up. Jumping up and swinging his bat with all his might, Tom connected Silus’s face shattering the bat upon impact. He landed on the other side with the handle only. Taking one step forward he staggered and fell to the ground unconscious, Tom’s body had reached its limit. On the other hand Silus landed on his two feet and stood still. There was silence in the whole area. He took two steps back and there was a loud thud, he had fallen on his back. Tanya turned to look at him and could barely recognize any facial features. She reached for her gun but Xin raised his hand to stop her

“He’s dead”he said

She sighed in relief and fell on her back with a smile stretching from one ear to the other.

She had not felt this much satisfaction and joy in a long time.

Maybe we might just survive this
