TWENTYFIVE-ALPHA CEREMONY

Staci POV

It's been three weeks since the Alpha meeting, and things have been quiet. Although no rogue or vampire attacks were reported, we were still prepared before James and Todd had to leave—something about the elders needing them to return.

First, they helped me with light training techniques and taught me a few moves using my powers. Interestingly, we still need help finding something on the Blood Moon pack or where they were. As Carter said, it's like their pack doesn't exist.

On the bright side, today was a good day for all of us. Antonio, Carter, Monica, and I sat in an SUV with four others following behind us. We were heading to Crescent Moon to witness my big brother Seth becoming Alpha tonight.

I was very proud of my big brother and couldn't wait to see the kind of Alpha I knew he was born to be. Deep in my thoughts, I rubbed my belly and giggled. Our pup was becoming more active.

I loved feeling our son move around and put a smile on my face. Yes, Antonio and I found out before we left that the pup would be a boy. It was the first week of August, and the days weren't cooling down.

I felt a hand caress my belly, and the sparks traveled up my spine as I turned and looked at my mate with a smile on his face. I swear this pup had grown over the last two weeks. My bladder couldn't take any more of his vicious kicks. He was his Father's son.

We were arriving a few hours early because I wanted to spend a little time with my family before the ceremony; at first, Antonio was hesitant about coming because of the vampire being here and not knowing what he and the Alpha of Blood Moon had planned, as always, my mate made sure to keep me and everyone safe at all costs.

Juliano, Antonio's parents, and his Uncle and Aunt stayed behind to ensure the pack's safety so my mate could rest assured. After the Alpha meeting, Rose left with Seth and my parents and returned to Crescent Moon to learn her Luna duties alongside my Mother. I was happy for my brother and Rose.

As the SUV stopped by the guard post, I saw one of the guards, whom I recognized as Louis, step out and bow his head in our presence. I waved at him as he lifted his head and let us pass through the gates.

It felt nice to see my old pack again; it had been ages since I last saw my home. Liam drove the SUV through, and the others followed behind.

Liam became my other personal guard when Juliano had his Gamma duties. That was fine with Antonio because he trusted Liam for reasons other than Juliano.

We have become best friends. He's a great guy, and his mate would be lucky to have him. As Liam stopped the SUV in front of the pack house, Antonio stepped out first and held his hand to me. I grabbed his hand and slowly slid out of the SUV.

I turned and saw my parents, brother, and Rose standing on the steps, waiting for us. Monica's Dad was also present. His smile widened as he embraced his daughter in a warm hug, making Carter growl. Monica told me during the Alpha meeting that she and Carter were expecting. I was excited for them and giddy because our pups would grow up together.

Antonio and I walked up the steps, and I rushed forward to hug my parents. My Mother had tears of joy in her eyes, and my Father smiled proudly at me, but I could see his eyes glistening with tears.

I felt my Mother place her hands on my belly as the pup gave her a few light kicks, and I giggled. I called my parents immediately and told them what their first grandpup would be after Antonio, and I found out.

"Oh goddess, strong little boy, aren't you?" I beamed at my Mother, and she smiled back at me.

"Well, dear, what did you expect with a pup from the Silva and Blackwind bloodlines?"

"He will be a strong, pure-blooded Alpha," my Father chuckled and touched my belly, feeling the pup kick.

I watched Antonio walk up to my parents, shake my Father's hand, and gently kiss my Mother's cheek. My Father growled as Antonio chuckled and raised his hands in surrender.

"Brady and Grace, it's nice to see you again," Antonio said, smiling at my parents.

"How about a nice afternoon walk?" my Mother suggested.

"A walk sounds nice," Antonio says, gently taking my hand.

Monica, Carter, and her Dad left earlier to get situated at his home since they were not staying at the pack house with us. Seth and Rose joined us on our walk as we discussed the ceremony. Our warriors helped patrol the territory.

"So, who's going to be the Beta and Gamma?" Antonio asked my brother as I rested my hand on my baby bump.

"Cole and Tyler," Seth said.

"Cole? As in Grayson's younger brother?" I asked my brother, and he nodded.

"Trust me, baby sis. He's nothing like Grayson and takes his responsibilities as Beta very seriously," Seth says.

Cole will be turning 18 on the 10th of this month. Grayson was almost a year old when their parents discovered they were expecting again. Cole was about 6'3 with the same blonde hair as their Father, but he had his Mother's blue eyes. Tyler was the elder child of Gamma Tito and his mate Lucille. Tyler was about six feet tall with short, spikey, bronze-colored hair and hazel eyes.

As we walked the pathway. I noticed we were heading toward the Crescent Moon cemetery. My body involuntarily froze up because I knew this was where Grayson was buried. I looked up as Tyler's younger sister, Leslie, exited the gates and looked in our direction.

"Bitch," Leslie sneered, making everyone, including Antonio, growl as she flinched from his aura.

"Leslie!" Seth roared.

"It's her fault the man I loved and gave myself to is dead! Why is she so goddess damn special!" Leslie screamed.

My eyes widened at Leslie's confession. She gave herself to Grayson, but he didn't care about her. I always wondered why she was mean to me growing up. Leslie had loved Grayson for years and blamed me for his choices.

Seth's wolf was on the surface, his eyes flashing, and he was ready to pounce. I raised my hand, blowing the air around us hard and fast. Leslie gasped and covered her hand with her mouth.

"Let me explain something to you."

"I'm not the reason Grayson chose his path of destruction. He did that on his own and paid the price for it."

"You should've seen the signs that he was just using you to get what he wanted. But you're young and naive, just like the rest he's slept with," Leslie gasped as I spoke.

"Oh? You didn't know he had others before you," I said as Leslie's eyes filled with tears, and she shook her head.

"I'm sorry he tricked you, Leslie, but I'm not sorry for the consequences that came after."

"I didn't want Grayson as my mate after he rejected me. I was granted someone better," I said as Leslie looked at Antonio.

I growled as Leslie adverted her gaze and apologized for her outburst. She also apologized for bullying me when we were younger. She confessed what I already knew.

"It's fine, Leslie. But if you come at me again like that, I will end you," I growled as she backed up and nodded.

Leslie walked off. I felt a headache coming, so I turned to Antonio and my family. Antonio knew what was wrong and told my parents he would take me inside for a nap. The ceremony was later that evening, but Leslie stressed me out, so I needed to rest.

Antonio picked me up and carried me back to the packhouse. I laid my head on his chest and closed my eyes. We made it back to the packhouse and entered. As my stomach rumbled, I could smell the food being prepared for the ceremony and felt the pup kick.

"Hungry?" Antonio asked as I nodded.

Antonio stopped at the kitchen and asked one of the chefs if he could make me a turkey sandwich with all the fixings and send it to my old room. I smiled as the chef nodded and went to make my sandwich.

We made it to my bedroom. Antonio kicked the door closed and set me on the bed. He went into the bathroom, and I heard the water turn on. Antonio came out a few minutes later and helped me inside the bathroom, where a nice steamy bubble bath awaited me.

"Thanks," I said, stripped off my sundress, and entered the tub.

"I'll come check on you later," Antonio said, closing the door on his way out.

I bathed, put the washcloth over my face, and closed my eyes while I relaxed in the tub.

Antonio POV

As Staci was relaxing in the tub. I brought our bags upstairs and hung my suit and her dress for the ceremony on the back of her closet. A knock sounded on the door as I took my bathroom items out of my bag.

I walked toward the door and opened it to find a female Omega holding a food tray with Staci's sandwich on it.

"Thank you," I said, taking the tray as the omega bowed.

I sat the tray on the bed and waited for Staci to finish her bath. I looked at the tray and noticed another sandwich and chips on it. I sat on the bed and ate the other sandwich and chips as the bathroom door opened and Staci walked out.

"Food's here," I said as Staci smiled, sat on the bed, picked up her sandwich, and started eating.

Staci moaned as she bit into her sandwich and licked some mayo off her lip. Ares was purring inside my head as we watched our mate eat her food.

Staci opened her bottled water and gulped some down. Staci finished her sandwich and chips, smiled at me, and placed the plate back on the tray.

"How's your head, my love?" I asked as Staci got comfortable on her old bed.

"It's going away," Staci says and yawns.

"Rest, my love," I say and kiss her forehead.

I stood up, collected the food tray, and set it outside the door on the food cart. The omega left and closed the door. Staci was already lightly snoring, so I chuckled and headed inside the bathroom to take a quick shower.

After my shower, I put on some boxers and sweatpants and exited the bathroom. Staci was out like a light. I set the alarm on my iPhone for 5:30 p.m. and crawled into bed with Staci. I gently pulled her to my chest as she snuggled closer to my warmth and mumbled in her sleep. I chuckled quietly and kissed her forehead as I closed my eyes and dozed off.

I heard whimpering and heard panting in my sleep. I could hear a sweet voice calling out to me.

"Wake up!" a voice shouted as I shot up in bed.

"Something is wrong with mate," Ares said as I saw Staci sweating and panting in her sleep.

"Staci?" I said and shook her gently as her arms flayed.

"NO!" Staci screamed and shot up in bed, looking around the room.

"Hey, my love," I said, grabbing Staci by the waist. She yelped and looked at me with wide, frantic eyes.

"Antonio," Staci said and pulled herself into my arms.

I felt something wet on my shoulder, heard sniffles, and realized Staci was crying. I rubbed Staci's back and kissed her head until she calmed down enough to explain what had happened.

Staci took some deep breaths and looked up into my eyes.

"What happened?" I asked and ran my fingers through her long, curly hair.

"I... I saw him," Staci said as I looked at her with a what the fuck look.

"Saw who?" I said and held her face. Staci licked her dry lips before she spoke.

"The vampire," Staci said, making Ares growl inside my head.

"In your dreams? Did he say anything?" I asked once I calmed down.

"It wasn't a dream. More like a vision."

"He was just staring at me and licking his lips. He creeped me out."

"He called me beautiful, then launched at me, and that's when I screamed and woke up," Staci said and held onto me.

Ares was clawing inside my head to get out. He wanted blood, and he was pissed. Just who the fuck was this vampire? I thought as my mind swirled with thoughts. I calmed down long enough to ask Staci a question.

"What did he look like?" I asked Staci, and she looked up at me and wiped her eyes.

"Tall, long silver hair, deep blood-red eyes, and pale skin," Staci said, shivering.

My alarm went off, drawing me from my thoughts as I looked at the time and shut the alarm off. The ceremony started in an hour, so Staci and I needed to prepare.

"Carter?" I linked my Beta, and he responded quickly.

"Alpha?" came his reply.

"Come to the packhouse. I need to talk to you," I said in the link.

"On our way," Carter replied and closed the link.

I got up out of bed and helped Staci into the bathroom. I turned the shower on and helped her strip off her gown and step into the shower. I then stripped off my sweatpants and boxers and got in behind Staci.

I help her wash up as she stares into nothing and trembles. That dream or vision shook her, and I hate her feeling helpless. Staci turns and wraps her arms around my waist as I hold her closer to my warmth and hear her sniffle.

"It's okay, my love," I say and kiss the top of her head.

After our shower, I helped Staci dry off and return to the room. I helped Staci sit on the bed while I got dressed. I put on some clean boxers and some red dress slacks. I put on my black button-up shirt and a red tie. I put on my red vest and jacket and fluffed the black hanky. I put on my black loafers with the red bottoms as a knock sounded on the door.

I walked toward the door and opened it slightly to Carter and Monica standing at the door.

"Be right outside," I said to Staci as she stared off into nothing but nodded.

I quietly closed the door and turned to my Beta and his mate, explaining what Staci told me. Monica was pissed but quickly controlled herself as she entered the bedroom to help Staci get ready.

"What's the plan?" Carter asked.

"Find out who this vampire is and what the hell he wants with my mate," I say with a growl.

Carter and I talked briefly about the vampire and Blood Moon situation. We decided to deal with it when we got back to Blue Eclipse. A while later, Monica walked out and looked at us.

"I managed to calm her down and help her get ready. She's waiting for you, Alpha," Monica said and smiled.

I thanked Monica and walked inside the room as my phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled my phone out and looked at the caller I.D. as Juliano's name appeared.

"Hello?" I answered his call as his frantic voice spoke.

"What happened?! Is the Luna okay?!" Juliano shouted into the phone as Staci looked at me through her vanity mirror.

"She's fine, Juliano. We will talk when we return to the pack," I said as Juliano sighed into the phone.

He felt her fear through their bond and wanted to check on her. I know Jackson was probably going nuts, worried about his Luna and wanting to keep her safe.

"Sorry, Alpha. I just felt her fear, and Jackson wouldn't rest until he knew she was safe," Juliano said.

"I understand, and I'm glad you called to check on your Luna."

"You should see the smile on her face," I said as Juliano sighed with relief.

After saying goodbye to Juliano, I walked toward Staci and rubbed her shoulders as she looked at me through the mirror. Staci smiled and brought my hand to her lips, kissing my wrist and squeezing my hand.

"Ready?" I asked Staci as she nodded and stood up.

Staci wore a beautiful red lace-up backless split-thigh halter dress that hugged her body like a glove but gave enough room to show off her baby bump. Her hair was extra bouncy, and her curls complimented her face.

I took Staci's hand and led her out of the bedroom. I opened the door as Carter and Monica waited at the bottom of the stairs. They looked in our direction as we came down. They walked behind us as we exited the packhouse and toward the back, where the ceremony was being held.

Seth POV

Tonight, it was official: I would finally become Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack. My wolf Spade puffed out his chest and howled, excited to get his title. My Dad had prepared me for this my whole life.

I looked into the crowd and saw my baby sister and her mate smiling proudly at me. I watched my Father approach the podium.

"Good evening, members of the Crescent Moon pack."

"Tonight, we celebrate the passing of the Alpha title from me to my firstborn, Seth Gregory Blackwind," my Dad said as the pack members howled and cheered.

I watched as my Father stepped to the side and Elder Gerard stepped forward.

"Good evening, members of the Crescent Moon pack."

"Tonight, we usher in a new Alpha, Seth Gregory Blackwind, the firstborn son of Alpha Brady Jonas Blackwind," the elder spoke.

I stepped forward beside my Father. My Mother was holding the sacred chalice, and she had unshed tears in her eyes. I looked at my Father, who also had unshed tears in his eyes and a proud smile.

"Alpha Brady Blackwind, are you ready to pass over the power and title of Alpha to your son Seth Blackwind?" elder Gerard asked.

"Yes, I am," my Father announced proudly.

"Seth Blackwind, are you ready to receive the power and title of Alpha?" elder Gerard asked.

"Yes, I am," I said, holding my head high as my heart beat out of my chest.

I watched my Mother hand the elder the chalice and dagger, and I saw a wolf with the Crescent Moon symbol on the tip of the handle. Rose was standing on the other side of me with my Beta and Gamma on the other side.

Elder Gerard held the dagger and sliced my Father's right palm and then did the same to me. I winced from the pain but didn't show it as Spade ran circles inside my head.

"Alpha Brady, Seth, please join hands," the elder said as my Father and I did as instructed.

The tiny drops of blood collected into the chalice that the elder held. I felt a powerful gust of wind move over all of Crescent Moon. I watched as all the members of Crescent Moon took a knee and bowed their heads.

"Crescent Moon pack, please stand and honor your new Alpha, Seth Gregory Blackwind," Elder Gerard announced.

The members stood howling and cheering. I walked up to the podium.

"Members of the Crescent Moon pack, as your new Alpha, I will present my Luna, Beta, and Gamma."

"I present Luna Rose Avalon Clark, your new Beta Cole Aron Smith, and your new Gamma Tyler Marcus King," I said as Rose came to my side and kissed my cheek.

The members again howled and cheered. After all the introductions and cheering, we proceeded with the pack run. I walked off the stage with Rose at my side as I went to hug my sister. I hated that she had to miss the pack run, but I completely understood why.

"See you in a little bit," I kissed her cheek and went to join my pack for the official pack run.

I walked into the forest with my mate Rose and went behind a giant tree to strip off my suit. I let Spade take over as we shifted and waited for our mate.

Rose's wolf, Ruby, stepped out as Spade stared. Ruby was a beautiful brown wolf and slightly muscular. Ruby was on the shorter side, but she was still fierce. Spade let out a howl as the pack joined in with their own chorus.

Spade and Ruby took off into a sprint as the pack joined. The one who wasn't with us was my Beta Cole. Since he couldn't shift for another few days, he stayed behind and watched from the stage.

After the pack run, we returned to our clothes and got dressed. It was fun running through the territory and being one with nature. We sat down to dinner and ate as the night was filled with laughter and joy.
