Chapter 570 You're Hopeless!

Casey suddenly felt overwhelming sadness wash over her as she sat in the passenger seat, feeling utterly superfluous. She had given birth to this man's child, yet in his eyes, she was inconsequential, as his mind was constantly preoccupied with someone else's wife.

On the other hand, throughout the entire journey, Amanda had never cast a single glance at Symeon. Instead, she stared out the car window, lost in the passing scenery.

It was not until the car slowly stopped outside the Winters Enterprise office building that Amanda unfastened her seatbelt and uttered, "Thank you both for the ride. I'm heading off to find my dear husband now." Her words were deliberate, as if she intended them for Symeon's ears.

Upon watching Amanda walk away, Symeon looked at that slender figure and let out a cold, mirthless chuckle before stepping on the gas pedal and driving away.

Casey sighed as she could not bear it any longer. She looked at the man beside her and said, "You knew it was impossible from the start, so why all these petty tricks? Even if you give her a ride, what difference does it make? You could only spend half an hour together at most, and she didn't even speak a word to

you."

The man's face remained cold and indifferent. He dropped her off at her rented apartment and replied, "Mind your business. You should focus on winning this lawsuit. Even if Amanda is competent, if your biological father speaks a few kind words to you and you soften up, she won't stand a chance."

While this was meant as a reminder, Casey couldn't help but hear the man's deep concern for Amanda in every word, making her increasingly uncomfortable.

"I know. I won't tarnish your beloved's reputation!" With that, Casey slammed the car door and left while Symeon looked at her angry departure with an amused Jaugh. He was merely offering a kind reminder, so why was this woman so worked up?

Symeon resignedly shook his head, turned the car around, and drove away.

After Casey returned to her rented apartment, she found herself in a fit of jealousy, even though she knew she had no right to feel that way. However, her emotions were spiraling out of control.

She went to the bathroom and stood before the sink. The next moment, she turned on the tap and splashed cold water on her face, trying to snap out of it. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and realized how ugly her jealous expression looked.

Suddenly, Casey chuckled. She seemed to have forgotten her original purpose. All she wanted was to get Dulcie, but now it seemed she also desired that man.

What a foolish and unrealistic fantasy.

Just then, the doorbell rang unexpectedly.

After wiping her face clean, Casey hurried to open the door, only to find her father, Philip, and Eleanor standing outside. Why were these two here again?

Her face tensed as soon as she looked at them, and she seemed ready to slam the door shut.

Unexpectedly, Philip pushed the door open. "Are you going to sever our father-daughter relationship

now? You won't even let me in?"

His words almost amused Casey, who was on the verge of anger. "It's not me who wants to sever our father-daughter relationship. It's you who want to cut ties with me. You even hired a lawyer to sue me. Why should I treat you nicely if you don't see me as your daughter?"

It was truly unnecessary.

She now understood what Amanda and Symeon meant. Even if Amanda were well-prepared, if Philip approached her with a few kind words and she softened her stance, Amanda wouldn't stand a chance in this lawsuit, no matter how capable she was.

"Who said I want to sever our relationship? Aren't you the one provoking me?" Philip tried to enter.

However, Casey blocked his way. "Say whatever you have to say here. There's no need to come in, and there's no need to criticize the condition of the apartment I'm renting again. Whether it's in bad shape or not, it's none of your business because you're the one who kicked me out."

"How can you speak like this? Who kicked you out, and why are you talking like this here?"

Casey had had enough. "Fine, if you must come in, come in, but she doesn't need to. I have nothing to say to her except arguing.

"You! How dare you speak to me like this? I'm your elder. Eleanor couldn't help but reprimand.

Upon seeing that Eleanor was about to scold Casey, she promptly shut the door. On the other hand, Philip gestured to Eleanor with his eyes, indicating that she should wait aside.

Although Eleanor looked unwilling, she still obediently walked to the side.

So, Philip entered his daughter's rented apartment. Seeing his daughter living in such a place was quite uncomfortable, but he didn't want to compromise so quickly.

With the door closed, it was just the two of them - father and daughter.

Casey sat on the couch, adopting a defensive posture as if facing an enemy. "If you have something to say, go ahead. I have to buy groceries and cook later."

"Why bother buying groceries and cooking? Just cat out. When have you ever cooked from childhood to now?" Philip frowned.

Casey replied sharply, "Just get to the point. What do you want? If you're here to lecture me morally, then please leave. I can't listen to anything right now. I'm at odds with your mistress. The Carter Family can' have both her and me. It's that extreme."

At this point, Philip suddenly found himself at a loss for words. He had originally wanted to talk to his daughter. After all, it was humiliating for a father and daughter to go to court. How could he continue thriving in business if people gossiped about his family affairs?

"Do you have to be like this? Do you think it looks good for a father and daughter to go to court?"

Did I insist on going to court? It's you! You and your mistress have pushed me into a corner. I don't care what you two do, but why do you think you have the right to claim the shares my mother left me? Don't you think you're going too far?" Casey's anger escalated as she spoke, especially when the image of her mother's suicide by jumping off a building crossed her mind. She wished she could confront them in court right now.

"What do you mean by 'claim? Your words are too harsh. My intention is just to distribute things fairly. Your younger brother is also a child of the Carter Family, and I won't mistreat you. You're still my daughter.

Before Philip could finish his sentence, Casey abruptly stood up and swung open the door. "Leave. We have nothing more to say. You're still fixated on your little son. From now on, you can live your life with him. I have no relationship with you anymore. Let's settle this in court. If you believe you're right, then. why be afraid of going to trial?" "Casey!"

"Get out. We have nothing to discuss."

"Do

you want to challenge me like this? Do you think you can match up to Mr. Waltham with the lawyer you hired?" Philip couldn't fathom that his daughter had found a formidable lawyer. She had never dealt with such matters before, and he believed she had no experience.

"That's none of your concern. It's my own business." Casey recalled Amanda's words and knew she could. not be soft-hearted. Otherwise, she might lose the shares her mother had left her.

"You're hopeless! You're just as irrational and sick as your mother!"
