The Lawyer’s Romance in Law
Chapter 175 Why Is He Angry?

Chapter 175 Why Is He Angry? Why is he angry?

Amanda could not comprehend the reason behind this man's persistent anger. In a flustered state, she stood up and declared, "I've always held that belief. No matter how many times you inquire, my response will remain unchanged."

After uttering these words, she hastened toward the room, her departing figure resembling a desperate escape. Surprisingly, Elias did not halt her this time. He silently sat on the couch, sulking, and his handsome face tensed.

What infuriated him the most was not her attitude, but the foolish idea concocted by Lazarus. Is this what he calls effective?

Why did he sense that Amanda was growing more resistant toward him, even driving him toward other women now? "Damn..." He could not contain his frustration and cursed, feeling an impulse to confront Lazarus physically.

At that moment, Selina emerged, carrying a cup of tea, and noticed Amanda's absence. Awkwardly, she placed the cup before the man and asked, "Mr. Winters, would you like some tea? Where is Amanda?" His voice turned icy cold. "She went back to her room."

Selina swallowed nervously, for the man's cold tone nearly froze her. Forcing a smile, she turned and walked toward Amanda's room. If she stayed any longer, she felt as though she would freeze to death. That man displayed an indulgent look whenever Amanda was present, but in her absence, he transformed into a terrifying figure.

Inside the bedroom, Amanda lay on the bed, burying her head in the pillow, consumed by shame over her recent behavior. What's wrong with me? She had agreed to be friends with Elias, yet she could not help but be concerned about his first love. What is happening to me? Am I seriously experiencing jealousy?

Suddenly, she removed the pillow and began talking to herself, "Amanda, pull yourself together. You have no right to be jealous. What are you thinking? Even if they were to reconcile, it would have no bearing on you-"

Before she could finish her words, Selina entered the room without knocking, startling her. Amanda sat up abruptly and was relieved upon seeing Selina. She could not help but complain, "Selina, why did you come in without knocking? You scared me."

After closing the door, Selina walked to the edge of Amanda's bed and sat down. "I'm the one who's scared, not by you but by your ex-husband."

"What do you mean? Did he scare you again?" Amanda wondered.

She replied, "No, it's just that he was sitting on the couch with an expressionless face, looking very scary. I noticed that your ex-husband is only gentle when you're around; he has a completely different attitude toward others."

Amanda remained silent. She knew all too well that Elias had always possessed a fiery temper, but gentleness in front of her? What a joke.

After their marriage four years ago, he would come home and treat her coldly. Yet, she could not fathom where her enthusiasm came from at the time, as she continuously tried to forge a connection despite his frigidity.

"By the way, you haven't told me why you both came back so suddenly. It seems like your ex-husband injured his foot. What about Aiden? Why did only the two of you come back?" Selina asked with confusion Amanda sighed and leaned against the headboard. "Don't mention it. While camping, he got bitten by a snake on his ankle. The wound got infected, so we had to come back early. Grandpa took Aiden with him, and I'll pick him up tomorrow. I'll let him spend a day with Grandpa."

Howard had eagerly anticipated the arrival of his little great-grandson for a long time. He was overjoyed when the little treasure suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Understanding the situation now, Selina nodded. "So, is Mr. Winters going to stay here for the next two days? Should I prepare a guest room for him?"

"No need to fuss over him! Let him make do with the couch for one night. I'll take him home tomorrow and bring my son back."

Why does it feel like they are exchanging hostages? Selina hesitated. "Is that... appropriate? After all, we're living in someone else's house..." "What's inappropriate about it?" Amanda huffed.

As night fell, it was time for dinner. After preparing the meal, Selina hesitated to call Elias to eat. Instead, she went to inform Amanda first.

When Amanda exited the bedroom, she noticed he was still sitting on the couch. She was unsure if it was because his foot hurt and he did not want to walk or if he was sulking there, but he seemed to have remained in the same position for the entire afternoon.

She walked into the living room and intentionally coughed twice. "Can you get up and walk? Come and have dinner. I wouldn't want Grandpa to accuse me of mistreating you."

Elias looked up at her and glanced around. "Are you talking to me?"

"Who else would I be talking to besides you?" She smiled, realizing that this scoundrel was trying to provoke her again.

"Don't I have a name? I remember Grandpa gave me a name."

She was speechless, skeptical of what this scoundrel was up to. So, she responded with a touch of annoyance. "Elias! Come and have dinner!"

After speaking, she walked directly toward the dining room. She was not going to cater to him anymore. He had been resting the whole afternoon, so he should be feeling better by then.

The man did not say anything further and got up to walk toward the dining room, although his gait looked a bit peculiar, and he was slower than usual. He intentionally sat next to Amanda and said, "Serve me a bowl of soup."

"I recall you injured your foot, not your hand." Her rebellious nature burst forth. We're already divorced, so why should I still serve him?

He looked at the side of her face. After four years of becoming a lawyer, she had indeed become more articulate.

"And I got injured because of you, so you must take care of me."

"I—"

Before she could speak, he interrupted her. "I know what you're going to say. 'Don't pester me. Don't ask to remarry!' I've already told you we're just friends now. I don't have any other intentions toward you. I'd rather go after my first love than bother you anymore. Rest assured."

She blinked, momentarily unsure of how to respond. As such, she suppressed her anger, served him a bowl of soup, and placed it in front of him.

Sitting across from her, Selina could not help but laugh at the scene. She did not know why, but she felt these two were a quarreling newlywed couple, mismatched but somehow perfect.

"What are you laughing at?" Amanda asked, looking at her holding back her laughter.

Selina raised her head, feigning innocence. "Huh? Nothing... I just accidentally choked a bit."

Elias gracefully lifted his porcelain bowl and sipped the soup as though he was a patient there to recuperate.

"Pass me some vegetables," the man said again.

Amanda's mind overtook with bewilderment. Did Elias see her as nothing more than a maid, commanding her around like this?

When he had pursued her to reconcile and remarry, he knew how to treat her with kindness and care. With no interest in her now, he resorted to treating her poorly. It seemed that his true nature had finally surfaced.

He glanced at her again, seemingly unfazed by her confusion. "Pass me some vegetables. I'm hungry. How can I heal if I don't eat enough?"
