Chapter 11 Maurice’s Threat

How could someone in the Foley Family harm Levi so boldly? Who could it be?

Rebecca didn’t plan on telling Maurice all this, but she could see that he was earnestly worried about Levi, so she changed her mind.

Also, as long as Maurice believed her, Kayla and Phoebe wouldn’t be able to do much damage no matter how much they accused her.

Now, she was also paving the way for her future peace and safety in the Foley Family.

“I don’t know who it is, and I shouldn’t get involved in this. My only responsibility is to cure Levi.”

Maurice didn’t know if he should believe what the girl said, but based on his years of experience around people, he could sense an unusual aura coming from Rebecca.

However, when he saw her outfit and appearance, he felt as if he were overthinking it.

He suddenly remembered what Levi said just now. Either way, after so many doctors’ failed attempts to cure Levi, he only had Rebecca to count on now.

“Alright. How long do you need?”

Rebecca frowned. “At least half a month. I can’t guarantee I’ll have everything figured out by then, though.”

She was still looking into the drug that hindered Levi’s recovery.

When Maurice heard her answer, his expression turned grave.

“I’m giving you half a month to cure Levi. If you fail, I’ll assume that you’re a murderer and deal with you accordingly.”

“Are you forcing me, Grandpa?” Rebecca’s eyes glinted as a cold smile hid behind her lips.

“Not exactly. I’m just desperate. I’ve asked so many famous doctors to treat Levi’s legs, but I ended up disappointed every single time. If this goes on, I fear that even Levi himself would want to give up.”

“He’s stronger than that.”

“What?”

Rebecca wasn’t sure of the other aspects, but during the short time she spent with Levi, she could feel that the man had a much stronger mental fortitude than expected.

Moreover, he was the man she married. He would never be a weakling.

Rebecca’s eyes were glimmering as she said to Maurice, “No matter the results, even if he has to undergo an amputation, I’m sure he can handle it. If not, you wouldn’t have such high hopes for him, would you, Grandpa?”

She could see that Maurice was very invested in Levi. She heard that Levi wasn’t the only grandson in the Foley Family, but Maurice still had hope for him even when his legs turned out like that. There must be something special about him.

As such, he couldn’t possibly be defeated so easily.

Maurice suddenly realized that Rebecca might just be able to open the door to Levi’s heart, for she was more insightful than most. He had met several young ladies from wealthy families before, but none of them were suitable for Levi.

Even though Rebecca wasn’t worthy of Levi in terms of looks, she was wise, unlike what her appearance suggested.

A smile bloomed on Maurice’s wrinkly face.

“I’ll leave Levi in your hands, then.”

“I’ll do my best.”

“Don’t worry about Phoebe and Kayla. They’re just too pampered.” Maurice still felt like he owed Rebecca an explanation. After all, he might have to entrust her with Levi’s future.

“Alright. Don’t worry, Grandpa. I’ll be leaving now.”

Rebecca went out of the study, the courteous smile fading from her face. This family seemed to have an abundance of actors as if it were a huge stage.

Maurice looked polite, but if she failed to cure Levi…

She probably wouldn’t leave this house alive.

Meanwhile, Percy had already returned to the room after gathering information.

“Mr. Foley, I’ve found something. Mrs. Foley did study medicine, but she only worked for a short while in a normal medical school before leaving. I can’t find any information on her after that.”
