Chapter 18 

Sleeping while cuffed to the bed is definitely out of the question. I can‘ ‘t get into a comfortable position at all, but at least the tape is off my mouth. Garrett came into my room to see me before turning in for the night and I refused to look at him. It hadn’t deterred him, though. He just sat on my bed in the same spot that Xander had and tried explaining to me why they were doing what they were doing. It wasn’t anything that I haven’t already heard from my stepbrother. 

“Kammy, you need to let us do what we are here to do; protect you!” He then gently pulls the tape from my mouth as slowly as he could as to not pull any fuzz or irritate the skin more than it already is, “Talk to me. Why are you so opposed to staying here?” 

I glare at him, “Oh, I don’t know, maybe because I can’t be myself, and I can’t have a life. I can’t even wear my own clothes, Garrett!” 

He flinches but then his face hardens a bit, “There is no need to raise you voice to me, Kammy. I’m here, trying to have a reasonable conversation with you. I thought we had become closer.” 

I scoff, “Yeah, and I thought you were someone that would help me when Xander was being a douche but then you join in, oh wait, you went and got the cuffs for him!” 

“And I would do it again, because you are ours, Kammy, and it’s time that you realize it.” 

“Pfft, I belong to nob*dy.” I turn my head because I no longer have anything to say to him. 

“Look at me, Kammy.” I ignore him and I hear him sigh heavily,

“Please look at me.” When I don’t do as he asks, he grabs hold of my chin and makes me look at him, “You are here to stay, beautiful, so you can either get on board with it and learn how to live with us, or we can make your life a living hell, it’s your choice. I hope you choose wisely, because I’m looking forward to taking things in a whole new direction real soon.” He then crashes his lips against mine and takes what he wants. I refuse to give him what he wants, but then something inside of me ignites and the next thing I know, I’m returning his k*ss. It isn’t until I whimper that he pulls away, “See Kammy girl, you know that we will make you feel good; why fight it?” he rakes his eyes over me and then stands up, “Sleep well, beautiful. I will see you in the morning.” 

But I haven’t slept well at all. If it isn’t the cuffs keeping me awake then it’s the dreams of dead birds all around me, covering the ground in blood, or the k*ss shared with Garrett. I need to stop letting him do that. Just because I let him k*ss me once, he now thinks it’s okay to k*ss me whenever he wants. 

Then there is my stepbrother and the words he spoke earlier about wanting to fuck me while I’m bound, and the k*ss he gave me over the tape. Had he taken liberties, he would have known exactly how his words had affected me. Is there something wrong with me? Why would I be attracted to men who treat me as they do? 

I try turning and end up pinching the skin on my wrist, “Ow, God damn it!” 

“Why the fuck are you making so much noise in here?” 

I jump and pinch my skin again before glancing over to where the 

voice came from. Xander flips the light on in the bathroom, so he can

see me, and I can see the frown on his own face. He stands with his feet apart and arms crossed; the light behind him makes him look menacing, only in a God–like way, because he is literally standing in just a pair of boxer briefs. 

I quickly glance away, “I can’t sleep, and my skin keeps getting pinched in these cuffs.” 

“Why can’t you sleep? Do you need to take something?” He asks a bit growly. 

“Uh no, I don’t take anything to sleep. If it wasn’t for these stupid cuffs and the dreams of dead birds, I’d sleep like the dead like I do every other night.” 

I think I may have seen a slight look of sympathy when I mentioned the birds, but he quickly hardens his expression once again. Sheesh, both him and Garrett, always wearing a scowl of some sort, whereas Trip has the cocky look to him constantly. Can’t they just look normal instead of giving off the broody look all of the time? 

Xander goes back to his room but is back really quick as he comes over to my bed. He unlocks the cuffs and then I squeal as he picks me up bridal–style and carries me into his room. His scent hits my senses and I inhale deeply before I realize what I’m doing, or better yet, what he’s doing. 

After turning the bathroom light off, he sits on his bed and uncuffs one of my wrists but then closes it around one of his. I look at him. incredulously but it’s too dark for him to see it, “W–What are you doing?” 

“You said you couldn’t sleep cuffed to the bed, so now you sleep with me. Since we can’t trust you not to leave, you will sleep with one of us each night, and I’m lucky number one. Now, lay the fuck down and go to sleep.”

It’s not like he really needed to tell me to lay down because the moment he lays down, I come tumbling down on top of him. He chuckles, “If you want a little action, all you have to do is ask, Bree.” 

“Ha! In your dreams, Xander!” 

“Every f**king night…” I hear him sigh. 

Does he mean that he dreams of me every night? No, that can’t be right. Suddenly, I’m being pulled back against his chest and I find myself being spooned by my half N*ked stepbrother. 

“Ah, must be nice to be able to laze around in bed with a beautiful woman.” Trip teases the moment Xander and I walk into the dining room. We are literally only five minutes late. I hardly call it lazing around in bed, and did Trip Huxley just call me beautiful? 

“Someone was being very uncooperative this morning” Xander scowls 

at me. 

“With all due respect Xander, me wanting to use the bathroom on my own isn’t me being uncooperative.” 

He raises a brow at me, and I quickly look away, “It is when you put yourself in this position. If you do the crime, then you do the time.” He pulls out a chair for me and then sits right beside me, so I’m now in between both Xander and Trip, with Garrett sitting across from us, smirking. 

“Do you find something amusing, dear cousin?” I glance between the two Kings wondering the same thing. Apparently, Xander doesn’t like to be someone else’s amusement.

“Nothing at all, cousin. Just wondering if your tardiness has anything to do with locking lips?” Garrett has the gall to wink at me, “Kammy girl seemed to be in the mood for some late–night k*sses last night, thought maybe she wanted morning ones too.” 

If looks could kill… 

My stepbrother whips his head to glare at me and then back to hist cousin, before settling on me again, “Is that true, Bree? Did you k*ss. Garrett again?” 

I shake my head, “No, I…” 

Garrett tsks, “Don’t be lying Kammy, we don’t like liars under our roof.” 

I turn and give Garrett my own glare as he continues to smirk, “I’m not lying, I never k*ssed…” 

My chin is grabbed and brought around to make me look at Xander once more, “I asked you a f**king question, Bree. Now, answer it.” 

His grip is bruising as he continues to hold on tight, “No, I didn’t k*ss him; he k*ssed me!” 

He finally let’s go and I wiggle my jaw around, “Is that the truth?” Xander’s stare is across the table now, burning a hole into his cousin. 

Garrett shrugs, “I initiated it, yes, but Kammy girl, oh she was into it; weren’t you. Your little whimper told me so, just before you stared k*ssing me back.” 

I don’t have to look over at my stepbrother to know that he’s now staring at me, waiting for my response, “Is that true?” He asks in a low 

I but very terrifying voice.

I look down at my hands which are still in the leather cuffs, and I nod, “Yes, it’s true.” I jump at the crashing sound of his breakfast plates. flying to the floor, and then he’s gone.
