Chapter 10: Does he know

Avery

“Avery!” Jake screamed and ran down towards me.

Once he got to me, he picked me up and spinned me around. “Jake…..you’re…..squishing….me…” I got out.

He put me down. “Oh right. Sorry.”

“Wait.” David called running towards us.

“What?” I asked.

“Did you say Luna?” He asked horrified.

“Ya. Why?” I asked.

“Uh, why did you say that?” Jake asked.

“That’s what I’m called with your kind.” I laughed.

“Uh Avery. We’re all humans. I just called these guys because I couldn’t find you too and I didn’t want you to call the police.” Jake told me trying to cover up.

“Jake don’t lie to me.” I told him crossing my arms.

“It’s not very nice to lie.” Lilly scowled.

“I’m not.” Jake countered.

“So you’re going to stand there and lie to your mate?” I asked with a smirk.

“How did-” He started but I cut him off.

“Dude stop. I know you guys are werewolves.”

A lot of gasps were sounded around the room and David and Jake looked at me with wide eyes.

“But. How?” David asked.

“I saw you guys shift.” I laughed.

“You’re not scared of me?” Jake asked quietly.

“How could I be?! That is so freaking awesome that you can shift! I thought I was the only one.” I laughed. I stopped laughing after I realized what I just said. Oh shit.

I looked down at Lilly and she froze too.

“What did you just say?” Liam asked walking towards us.

“I said, uh I thought I was the only one that knew you guys were werewolves. But then I remembered Lilly was with me.” I explained nervously.

Jake, David, and Liam gave me a weird lol before smiling. Except for Liam. He just gave me an even stranger look.

“So you’re okay with it?” David asked slowly.

“Ya. I mean like seriously. That is totally awesome! You guys get to shift into giant wolves!” I exclaimed.

‘But shifting into a fox is so better.’ Red smirked.

‘Totally.’ I smirked back.

“So, do you accept me? Us?” Jake asked pointing to the other wolves looking at me with hopeful expressions.

I looked at him, David, and Liam. Then I looked at everyone else in the room. Everyone stood there waiting for me to answer while some people gave me a warm smile. Except for this one redhead that looked like she was about to kill me. I don’t know what that’s about, but oh well.

I looked back at Jake and smiled. “I accept you and the other wolves.”

Right as I said that, everyone screamed in joy and clapped. Jake had a huge smile on his face and he pulled me into a hug. “Thank you thank you thank you!”

“Ugh!!!” We heard someone scream.

We turned around to see the redhead fuming before she stormed out of the house. “Who was that?” I asked.

“That would be my cousin Sadie.” Liam said shaking his head.

“What’s her deal?” I asked him.

“She’s been trying to get with Jake ever since he got the alpha title so she could become Luna.”

“So you never dated or slept with her?” I asked Jake. For some odd reason, I felt kinda hurt that he might have.

“Well. There was this one night that I might have slept-” I cut him off when I slapped his face.

“Excuse me? So you are telling me that I’m your mate, but you slept with another girl?” He cupped his cheek and started laughing. “This isn’t funny Jake!” I screamed. “Because if you think it is, I can forget all about you and leave.” I crossed me arms and he stopped laughing.

“Mine!” He growled and pulled me into him.

“Whatever.” I huffed and turned away from him.

“Avery. I was kidding. I just wanted to see of you would get jealous.”

I looked at him like he was stupid. Oh wait, he is! “Why?”

“Because them I know that you can feel the pull.” He smiled and hugged me closer.

“What pull?”

“The mate pull. Since you are my mate, we feel attracted to each other.”

“Is that also why I feel sparks every time we touch?”

He nodded eagerly. “Exactly. A mate is a werewolf’s soul mate kinda sorta. They can’t live without each other. And since I’m the alpha, you’re the Luna.”

“Huh?” I asked laughing.

“I’m the alpha. Which is like the leader of the pack.” He pointed to everyone that is standing there. “And you being my mate, makes you the alpha female. Which is called the Luna.”

“So I have power like you?” I asked with a smile.

“Ya. Exactly.”

“Good to know.” I smiled mischievously. I turned to Liam and gave him an innocent smile. “Hey Liam.”

He looked at me questionably. “What?”

“I want some icecream.”

“So?”

“Can you please go get me some icecream?”

“Why?”

“I’m your Luna.” I smirked.

He gaped at me, and then it turned into a glare. “What. Kind.” He asked slowly.

“Mint chocolate chip.”

“Fine.” He said before storming off out the door.

I turned back toward Jake. “I could get use to this.”

“You will make the Luna.” Jake said hugging me.

I hugged him back. “Thank you.”

“So this causes for a celebration.”

“Why?” I asked.

“Because you accepted being our Luna.” David said walking forward.

“Cool. I say we have a barbecue!”

“A barbecue?” Jake teased.

“Ya. Please?” I asked giving him a puppy dog face.

“I can’t say no to that face.” He smiled.

“Yes!” I fist pumped the air.

“I can’t believe I’m your sister.” Lilly said shaking her head.

I gasped at her. “Well, love you too.”

“So would you like to meet the pack?” Jake asked me.

I suddenly got nervous. “Uh sure?”

“Cool. This way.” He said leading me over to everyone.

About 2 hours later, I finished meeting everyone.

And let me tell you, Jake as a huge pack. He has over like 2,000 pack members. But they are all so friendly and sweet. Except for Sadie. Ya, she hates me. A lot.

But I can handle her. I’m pretty sure I could kick her ass.

“Let’s get this party started!” I screamed.

I heard a lot of cheers and everyone ran outside.

“What should we do Luna?” A young boy asked me.

“Hm, how about you get your friends and get games. Like soccer balls, basketballs, baseball and softball.” I suggested.

“Okay.” He smiled and ran off to his friends.

“Jake!” I yelled.

“You called?” He asked from behind me.

“Ah!” I yelped in surprise. “Don’t scare me like that.” I laughed and playfully hit his chest.

“Sorry sweetie.” He teased me.

“Jerk.”

“Sorry babe.”

My heart skipped a beat when he called me babe. Why do I feel butterflies in stomach? Oh my gosh, what’s wrong with me? Am I hallucinating? Probably….

“Uhh, I’m gonna go look for some uh music.” I said before running inside the house.

After I walked inside the house, I’ve been helping some pack members, mostly the moms, with some of the cooking.

“Excuse me?” I felt a tap in my shoulder and turned to see a couple. They looked like they wee in their early 40s maybe.

“Yes? Can I help you?”

“You must be Avery Williams?” The lady asked.

I nodded. They looked like someone I knew. I mean the man looked a lot like….Jake.

I opened my eyes wide when I realized these two people must be his parents.

“I’m guessing you see the resemblance between us and Jake.” The man laughed. I nodded shyly.

“It’s alright dear. I’m glad he finally found his mate. Even if you at a human.” She winked.

I heard a snort and turned to see Liam getting a water. “Human my ass.” He mumbled thinking no one heard him. What’s that all about?

“You okay Liam?” I asked.

His head shot up and he glared at me. “Ya. Perfectly fine.” He said before stalking off.

“Don’t mind him dear. He’s not right in the head.” She laughed.

I laughed along with her. “Let us into ride ourselves. My name is John Taylor, and this is my wife Stacy Taylor.”

“It’s really nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. My little sister Lilly is around her somewhere.”

“Please. Call us Stacy and John. Mr. and Mrs. is just too old.” Stacy laughed.

“Alright.”

“Avery?” I heard Lilly call.

“In the kitchen.”

I saw Lilly come walking in and she stopped when she saw Stacy and John.

“Hello Lilly.” Stacy smiled.

Lilly offered a small smile and his behind me. “Lilly it’s okay. This is Stacy and John. They are Jake’s parents.”

“Ohh. Hi.” She smiled and waved.

“Nice to meet you.” John shook her hand.

“Your son is mean.”

“Oh boy. What did our son do?” John asked laughing.

“Kidnapped us.” Right as Lilly said that, John stopped laughing.

“He did what now?”

“He kidnapped us. He was mean to us. But not anymore ever since Avery found out that she was his mate.”

“Oh my gosh.” John said rubbing his forehead.

His eyes glazed over like I saw Jake’s do that one time. “Uh what’s going on?”

“It’s called a pack link.” Stacy told me. “The pack can use it to talk to each through our minds. If you were a supernatural like us, you could probably do it too once he marks you.”

“Ohhh.” Well I am kinda like you. Heh. “Wait, what do you mean ‘marks me’?”

“He bites your neck.”

I felt my eyes go big. “Come again?” I asked looking at her.

She giggled. “That’s what I thought the first time my parents told me about it. The male and also female will bite each other’s necks. It’s like a claim. The bite allows your scent to be mixed in with your mates and it warns everyone else that that person is yours.”

“But I’m my own person. No one owns me.” I told her.

She laughs. “Avery. You and Jake are mates. Meaning that he owns you, just like you own him. It’s kinda like being girlfriends and boyfriend. But much more extreme. And just to let you know, Jake can be very protective and possessive. And since he is an alpha, his wolf will be a lot more protective and possessive.”

“Thanks for the warning.” I laughed. “So tell me more about this marking stuff.”

“I’ll let Jake explain that to you. He would be happy to tell you.” She smiled.

“You called?” Jake asked walking into the kitchen.

“Jake!” A little girl screamed running up to him.

“Katie.” He smiled and picked her up. “Guys, this is my little sister Katie.”

“Hey Katie.” I smiled.

“Hi Luna.” She smiled.

“Please call me Avery.”

She nodded. “Katie, this is Avery and her little sister Lilly.”

“Hi Lilly.” Katie said as Jake set her down. “Wanna go play?”

Lilly looked at me asking for permission. “Go Lilly.” I smiled.

“Thanks!” She said as she ran off with Katie.

“So Jake.” John started after Lilly and Katie ran off somewhere.

“Yes dad?” He asked suspiciously.

“Tell us how you first met Avery.”

I saw Jake gulp and I had to cough so I wouldn’t laugh. “Uh. Well, David, Liam, and I were walking in the park, and that’s when I first saw her.”

“Really? So how did you get her to come to the house with you?”

I think Jake is starting to notice where this is going to because he turned to look at me and glared. “Avery.”

“Don’t look at me. I didn’t say anything.” I put my hands up in defense.

“Then who did?” He asked irritated.

“Lilly.” I smiled at his face.

He groaned and sat down in the chair. “I’m guessing you kidnapped them?”

“Yes dad. I did.” He said defeated as he slammed his head down on the table.

“Do you have anything to say for yourself?”

Jake looked up and me. “Sorry Avery.”

“Sorry for what?”

He glared at his dad before turning back to me. “Sorry for kidnapping you and Lilly.”

“It’s okay.” I smiled and hugged him. He hugged me back and sniffed my neck. He’s doing that again. “Why are you stiffing me?”

“It calms my wolf.” Was all he said before he went back to sniffing me.

“You men are weird.” I laughed as I pushed him away.

“Hey.” John and Jake said offended.

“She’s right.” Stacy shrugged.

“Mom.” Jake whined.

“What? It’s the truth.”

We all laughed, but it was cut short when Stacy and John had to go help some pack members with the decorations.

They really take this whole me accepting Jake thing seriously.

“Hey Avery.” Liam waved.

“Hey.” I waved back.

“How are you today?”

“Umm good? You?” I asked unsurely. Something seems off about him.

“I’m wonderful.” He told me batting his eyelashes at me.

I laughed a little. “Are you okay?”

“Yup.”

“Ya sure?” I asked once again.

“Never better.” He assured me.

“Okay then.”

“Have you been feeling alright?” He asked.

“Ya. Why?” Ya, I don’t think he’s feeling alright.

“Do you feel sad? Mad? Guilty, like something is bugging you?”

“No. Why would I feel all those things? I’m happy.”

“You don’t feel like you want to get a secret of your chest or anything?”

I stiffened. He wasn’t referring to Red was he?

“Uh. N-no. Why?”

He smiled and got up off the chair. “Just wondering.” Was all he said before he walked out.

That was strange….
