The Dragon Prince
King Akhenaten of Aksum

Alyssa

After training with Mr. Reid and his wife, I returned to the palace, feeling exhausted. I had no idea learning how to breathe fire would drain me completely. I decided to check up on Vincent and see if he was resting in bed. I entered his room after knocking a few times when I heard no answer and saw that his bedroom was empty. Why am I not surprised that Vincent is not in bed?

I decided to check the Royal Library first or Vincent; I never imagined him reading a book, but no doubt seeing him holding paper in his hands would look sexy. When I arrived, he wasn’t there. Next up, the kitchen; he might’ve gone down to ask the cook for something to eat; after all, he needs to keep himself healthy for Astarot to heal him fully.

I asked the cooks if Vincent was down here today, and they told me they never saw him. Seriously, where is that guy? The last place I thought of looking was Audrey’s room. She has been through a lot these past few days, and maybe Vincent wanted to be the supportive brother he is.

I went to Audrey’s room, and just when I was about to knock on the door, I heard her crying. “Audrey, are you alright?” I said.

“I’m fine; I just want to be alone right now,” Audrey sniffed.

I left without saying a word. Audrey had locked herself in her room, refusing to speak to anyone. Alexandria and Vincent were getting worried, but I told them that she just needed time. I hope Audrey knows I’m here to talk when ready. Moon Goddess, please help Audrey; she needs your guidance.

“Where is that boy?” Soon, I heard music. I wondered where it was coming from. I followed the music to the workout area and saw Vincent fighting in a simulation dome. I never knew Vincent’s family had this type of advanced training technology. He was sweating and working out.

“I may not be a doctor, but even I know that you do NOT go to the gym the day after surgery,” I said.

Vincent’s face flushed red with embarrassment. He then commanded the simulation to be terminated. “Hey, Alysaa, hi, hello!” He smiled with his eyes closed.

“Don’t, hey, Alyssa, hi, hello, me! You’re busted,” I crossed my arms.

“Staying still was killing me,” Vincent said.

“SO you thought you’d go to the gym, and take care of that yourself?” I said.

“That’s a bit dramtic, don’t you think?” Vincent made a poker face while I glared back with my eyes flashing. “Okay, alright, I’m done. Stop looking at me like that please,”

“Shower. NOW,” I commanded.

“Are you join me?” Vincent got closer.

“You really think you’d earned that right to touch my wet naked body. I don’t think so, honey,” I said coldly.

“Ouch, you’re kind of sexy when you are mean and bossy. But I don’t like that death stare,” Vincent said. Vincent then got in the shower.

I waited for Vincent in his bedroom; he entered while holding his shirt in his pants. “Happy now, babe?” Vincent scoffed.

“You smell better.” I took a closer look at Vincent. Why on earth does he have a perfect body? I’m still mad at him, but that’s getting more difficult by the second. He smiled at me. Crap, I think he noticed me staring at me. “How’s you’re shoulder?” I asked, trying to lower his suspicion of me staring at him.

“Almost fully healed but a little sore,” Vincent said.

“Let me see,” I said, turning him around to see his back.

“I thought you said you weren’t a doctor?” Vincent chuckled.

“Shut up!” I said as I hovered my hand on his healing surgical wound. I removed the old wet bandages off his shoulders. His injuries were thankfully still closed, but they were still red. I sat him down, trying not to stare at his flawless chest, which was hard to accomplish. “You are an idiot, Vincent Callahan. Going to the gym while Astarot is still healing you, you were ordered to stay in bed,”

“Alright, it may not have been the best I’ve had,” Vincent admitted.

I poked his shoulder, and Vincent’s face twisted in pain. “AGH, It was a dumb idea; it was dumb!”

“At least we agree,” I smiled. I finished cleaning the wound and placed new bandages over it. “Now put a shirt on or somthing,”

Vincent got off the bed. “I thought you liked the view,” I gave him a cold glare. “I’ll bahave,” Vincent put on a white polo shirt. “Why are you home so late? School has been over for over three hours,”

“I didn’t go to school exactly; I did some training with Mr. Reid and his wife, Elizabeth,” I then explained how they offered to help me control my abilities. I also told him what I learned.

“You can breathe fire now?!” Vincent smiled.

“For a short while, withstanding the flame is difficult. Fire dragons make it look easy,” I rubbed the back of my head while I smiled.

“It’s incredible how quickly you are learning all this,” Vincent said.

“Maybe it’s somthing to do with me being the golden dragon,” I speculated.

“No, you’re a nateral. Will he train with you again?” Vincent asked.

“I think so. Reid doesn’t have time tomorrow, but Liz will meet with me after school,”

“I know Elizabeth; she taught me how to harness my magic when using water dragon magic,” Vincent said.

“Oh yeah, I remember reading that White Dragons can copy and magnify the magic of any dragon they face. Could you copy my magic if we ever fought?” I asked.

“Yes, I can. All I have to do is see you use your magic on me, and then I’ll be able to use the magic of the golden dragons to its fullest potential. I can even use multiple elements at once and combine them as well. For example, suppose I faced a fire dragon and a lightning dragon and saw them cast their magic on me. In that case, I’ll be able to use the magic of those dragons and my own. I can only copy two elemental abilities simultaneously.

“I can beat you in a fight, but I will never fight you anyway. So what can we do for the rest of the day today?” I said.

“I want to visit Isabella and Jacob. I have to tell them something significant,” Vincent said.

“How about calling them to come here? You must stay in the palace and get some rest as promised. Goddess knows how many times you broke that promise already,” I scoffed.

Vincent scoffed back at me and pulled out his phone to call Isabella and Jacob to meet with us at the palace. We waited for them to arrive in the library. I could’ve found a much safer location to talk, but my mate is stubborn.

“Hey,” Izzy whispered as she entered the dining room with Jacob.

“How are you holding up bro?” Jacob said.

“Never better. My mother is still in a coma but alive. Alexandria and I are going to talk to the doctor tomorrow,” Vincent explained.

“I heard there will be a town meeting tomorrow night,” Jacob said.

“Alex asked about that meeting. We are going to tell the kingdom about my father tomorrow,” Vincent said.

“How is Audrey holding up?” Izzy said with sadness in her voice.

“Audrey locked herself in her room for days now and won’t talk to anyone,” I said,

“Poor thing, she already lost her biological parents. I can’t imagine having to go through the same pain again,” Izzy heart sank when she spoke.

“Is this why you call here, Vincent?” Jacob asked him.

“There is one more thing. We found out who was working with my father during his investigation,” Vincent said.

“I guess you are not a liberty to discuss this with us!?” Izzy snapped.

“Don’t start with me, Izzy. Someday, I’ll you everything,” Vincent promised. “My father was working with Akhenaten,”

Isabella scoffed. “Why am I not surprised?”

“Okay, I’m missing a piece of the picture here,” I said.

“King Akhenaten is our father,” Jacob said.

“WAIT, WHAT!!!? You’re the heirs to the African Kingdom?!” I gasped.

“Unfortunately,” Izzy looked at her fingernails.

“Why did we need to know that our fathers were working together,” Jacob said.

Vincent rubbed the back of his neck and laughed nervously.

“You son of a bitch, he’s coming isn’t he?” Izzy folded her arms.

“Tomorrow morning,” Vincent giggled.

“Tomorrow!?” Izzy yelled. “Are you kidding me!!”

“Whoa, calm down sis,” Jacob said.

“You, of all people, should know why I’m NOT calming down. Fuck this; I need some air,” Izzy stormed out of the library and went outside.

“What the hell?” I was in shock by Izzy’s reaction to her dad coming.

“Let’s say there’s a reason why we attend the academy in Varrfarrinn and not in Aksum. I will let Isabella tell you that story,” Jacob said.

“I will talk to her,” I said as I walked out to find Izzy. I managed to see her on the balcony; she enjoyed the view. I hope she has calmed down enough for me to talk to her.

“Hey, Isabella,” I said as I walked beside her.

“I’m not okay if you’re about to ask. I have a good relationship with my dad, but my problem with him is that he always takes my mother’s side. My mom and I don’t really see eye to eye. The main reason is that I’m a lesbian and mated to a fairy instead of a dragon,”

“I’m sorry,” I said.

“That’s why I decided to attend school here in Varrfarrinn, to escape my mother,” Izzy said.

“But why is Jacob here?” I asked curiously.

“He’s my twin brother. Wherever one of us goes, the other follows. Gave me some of his twin speeches. Mom also blames me for him leaving as well,” Izzy said.

“And what does you dad think about this situation? If you know,” I said.

“I don’t know what he thinks about knowing I’m a lesbian. In his eyes, I’m just stirring up trouble in the family for constantly arguing with Mom and acting out. But he pays for my house and Jacobs. He can’t make it look like he kicked us out, otherwise it would tarnish his imaged as a great dragon king,” Izzy mocked.

“Don’t feel sorry for me; that’s the last thing I need right now,” Izzy said. “Since my mom learned that I accepted my mate bond with Annabeth, she has been threatening to cut me off unless I reject her,”

“Why would she do that to you?”

“For a woman who disagrees with homosexuality, imagine how she feels about being with someone of a different magical race. Thankfully for her and me, I’m not the first in line for Aksum. So I can mostly stay out of her way,”

“So Jacob will be King of Aksum?” I said.

“Nope, Jacob is third in line for the throne. I have older siblings,” Isabella said.

“I thought I knew you all this time, but this made me feel like I know nothing. Some friend I am,” I said.

“Never say that again, Alyssa. You are a dear friend to me, and I treasure our friendship. It’s my fault that you know nothing about me, as I never told you. I don’t like to talk about family,” Izzy said.

“I understand completely. Shall we head inside?” I asked her.

“Yeah, let’s go find the boys. We returned to the library, but Vincent and Jacob were absent. We then went to the great hall when we heard voices.

“Well, look who it is,” said the woman with a man.

“You’ve got to kidding me,” Isabella said. “Megan!”

“Nice to see you too, sis!” Megan blew a kiss on her.

Isabella and Megan are sisters? Megan has pale skin, while Izzy has dark skin. I would have never guessed that.

“Father,” Izzy said, looking at the man beside Megan. “Nobody informed me that you would be dragging her with you,”

So that’s King Akhenaten, Dragon King of Aksum.

“Trust me, I’m just as thrilled to see you,” Megan stuck out her tongue playfully.

“Behave, girls,” Akhenaten said. “She’s here with me to learn about the responsibilities of a dragon leader,”

“What a joy,” Izzy rolled her eyes. “Aksum is doomed. Why are you guys here early?”

“The wind was in our favor on the way here. I couldn’t wait to see my favorite sister,” Megan smiled.

“Isabella, who is this young lady?” Akhenaten asked.

Suddenly, all eyes were on me, and I couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

“This is Alyssa, Vincent’s mate,” Izzy introduced me.

“So, the white dragon has finally found his fated mate. Pleased to meet you,” Akhenaten bowed.

“Likewise, your majesty,” I bowed. “I’m going to tell Alexandria of your arrival,” I’m saying anything to get out of this staring contest. I turned and walked away and made my way to Alexandria’s study. I knocked on the door, and she opened it, allowing me to enter.

“Alyssa, I guess you have news to share?” Alex said.

“Akhenaten and his daughter are here,” I said.

“Already?! I’ll have the workers make sure the guest rooms are ready. You said that his daughter is here?” Alex said.

“Yeah, Megan,” I said.

“Jacob and Islabella’s older sister. They rarely get along; I should get over there before I start seeing my home on fire,” Alex groaned.

Why am I getting the feeling that she is speaking from experience? Alexandria and I returned to the great hall.

“Akhenaten, so glad you could make it,” Alex smiled.

“Of course. Sorry, I have arrived early,” Akhenaten said.

“Nonsense, we are happy to have you both here.

“That makes one,” Izzy said as Megan blew a kiss.

“Let’s talk in my office, Akhenaten,” Alexandria gestured to her father’s study. “Alyssa, I need to join us as well,”

We returned to the study with Alex locking the door behind her.

“You’ve called the other kingdoms about your father.

“Yeah, the strongest black dragon to ever the earth is dead. Everyone is shocked.

“Not to be rude, but why is the mate of the white dragon here?” Akhenaten said. “I thought this information was to be kept a secret.

Part of me wanted to say some bad words. But seeing as he is one of the kings of the dragon kingdoms, I bit my tongue.

“It is a secret. This is Alyssa, and she’s so much more than the mate to the white dragon,” Alex smiled.

“I don’t see anything interesting about her other than that she only exists to carry white dragon offspring,”

Is that all he sees me as, a breeder?

“Looks can be deceiving; you, of all people, can see that,” Alex said, getting annoyed.

“All I see is a consort to the prince,” Akhenaten sneered at me.

“That’s it. I don’t care who you are, but you will not talk to me like that. I’m not some breeder to continue the ancient bloodline of the Moon Goddess. My name is Alyssa, get it right, dickface.” I yelled at the African King.

I could see the puzzled look on his face. He’s not used to people talking back to him, but that puzzled look turned into annoyance. Alex got between us.

“Let’s take a breather. Alyssa took down three of the four dragons attacking the other day. She is the reason Varrfarrinn is still standing,” Alex defended me.

Aktenaten’s facial expressions changed, and I could see that he found Alex’s words hard to believe. It’s weird hearing Alex praise my action for defending the kingdom. After all, all I could think about was killing three people. They were terrible people, but still people.

Perhaps I mistreated you too harshly, Alyssa,” Akhenaten bowed with an apology.

“There is also somthing else that I think you should know about Alyssa. She’s the Golden Dragon,” Alex said.

“I’ve heard rumors that there was a Gold Dragon in Varrfarrinn, but it was hard to believe. Almost like the White Dragon, the Elves wiped them out. I still don’t have proof that she is what you say she is,” Akhenaten said.

“Alyssa doesn’t know how to face morph yet as she is still new to the magical world,”

“What do you mean by that?” Akhenaten folded his arms.

Alex gave me a nod, so I told Akhenaten everything, from my manifesting experience to being captive to when I escaped and landed in Varrfarrinn.

“Hmm. Thank you for sharing your story. Now you may leave,” Akhenaten said coldly.

“Excuse me! Last time I checked, you’re not the ruler of Varrfarrinn,”

“Alyssa, it’s alright; we will talk later,” Alex said.

“Hmph, very well,” I walked out of the study and slammed the door behind me. UGH, Who does that fucker think he is? Isabella failed to mention that her father is a total asshole. Moon Goddess, give me strength.
