Since Shannon was sentenced to death and Bethany was humiliated in public in the court's hallway, Bethany felt that what was left of her status at home had completely vanished and that whatever childhood filter her father had for her was shattered.

She had always relied on Shannon like a parasitic leech. She had also spent money like it was water.

However, Shannon's personal assets were confiscated by the government. All her secret savings stored under Shannon's name were gone overnight.

Apart from the two private properties Gregory bought for Bethany, two luxury cars, and the $3 million in her bank account, Bethany had nothing.

Bethany was used to spending money lavishly, so the feeling of not having money made her itch unbearably, as if she were covered in lice.

Gregory would notice if she sold the luxury cars and properties, but what could she do with just $3 million? It was not even enough for her to tip the male escorts!

After fretting about it for two days, Bethany suddenly thought of the safe by Shannon's bedside. Her few pieces of jewelry should not be confiscated yet. They would be worth at least $1 billion if she sold them. Therefore, Bethany immediately ran toward Shannon's bedroom, heading straight to the bedside with bloodshot eyes.

She dragged the entire safe to the table, staring greedily at the combination lock.

Her fingers were numb after trying a dozen times, punching in all the numbers related to the Salvador family and Shannon herself that she could remember, yet the safe remained sealed.

"Fuck! Why did you set such a complicated password? Did you think you could bring them to your grave after you die?!"

Bethany jumped in anger, storming out to find a large hammer.

When she re-entered the room, hammer in hand, she was dumbfounded.

Two exceptionally handsome men appeared in the room-Justin and Ryan!

"You... Why are you here?" Bethany shivered as she took a step back.

In the past, she would get excited at the sight of Ryan, but now she only felt fear.

Justin sat upright on the sofa, his handsome face expressionless, not even bothering to glance at Bethany.

"I came to retrieve some stuff for my wife."

Ryan's lean figure leaned against the table, his narrow eyes carrying a hint of mockery, and he patted the safe. "Whatever is in this safe belongs to Carrie now."

Bethany's pupils contracted, her voice turning sharp. "What nonsense are you spouting now? There's nothing of hers in here! Don't touch that safe... My mother left it for me!"

Ryan raised his brows, his temper flaring up. He suddenly knocked heavily on the safe three times.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Ah! Stop knocking it!" Bethany jumped in panic, afraid that he would shatter the jewelry inside.

Justin shifted his gaze to Ryan, looking speechless. He could not imagine that his immature best friend would be the future head of the Hoffman family.

He hoped Ryan would not lead the Hoffman family to ruin.

"This is my home! This is my mother's room... She left this safe for me! You... You guys... Don't dream of snatching it away from me!" Bethany widened her bloodshot eyes, screaming hysterically. The next second, Ryan punched in the four-digit passcode, and with a click, the safe opened effortlessly.

Bethany's mouth hung open in shock, staring with disbelief at the scene before her!

"How could it be... I don't even know the passcode... How could you..."

"I've said that the things inside are not yours. Your mother left it for my wife."

Ryan tilted his head, his lips curling into an infuriating smirk. "If you want them, you can go visit your mother one last time in prison. Remember to sweet-talk her. Maybe then she'll grant you some good stuff if she's happy. But you should act fast, or she might not be around anymore."

Bethany's vision blackened with fury.

Did Shannon tell Carrie the safe's passcode? Was that why Ryan came over to take the things for her? That damned idiot! Her brain seemed to be working fine during critical moments. Justin parted his thin lips. "There's quite a bit here. Do you want me to ask the butler to prepare a box for you?"

"No need. I brought my own."

As he spoke, Ryan pulled a woven bag from his back pocket, and with a casual sweep of his hand, he secured all of the priceless gems.

Justin's brows twitched.

Good grief. It was like a bandit raiding a jewelry store.

After the two men left, Bethany, hammer still in hand, stood frozen in place. She looked at the empty safe, her head throbbing as if the hammer had hit her.

Finally, after a long time, she let out a wail, sobbing hysterically.

At that moment, her phone rang.

Bethany wiped the tears and snot away from her face, squinting her swollen eyes as she stared at the screen.

What came into view was a name she had not seen for long.

Bethany's heart tightened, and she pressed the answer button, cautiously putting the phone by her ear.

"Hello...?"

The person on the other end said lazily, in a mocking tone, "You sound terrible. Why? Are you mourning for your mother?"

Bethany gritted her teeth. "Zoe Hoffman... Your mouth is still so foul!"

"It's been a long time. Did you miss me?"

"Ha... All that talk, but you're still stuck in Inalia, unable to even return to Savrow!"

"Who said I couldn't return? Ryan wants to treat me like a criminal and lock me up, throwing aside our sibling ties for a fool. How could I let him off so easily?!" Zoe's voice was dripping with venom.
