Bella and Justin were lost for words.

Nigel could be mean when he wanted to.

Nevertheless, Nigel was right to set Gregory straight.

"Mary is my wife, Dad. I'm just here to visit her. Why must you be hostile to me?" Unable to take it, Gregory nearly had an outburst in front of his father.

"Your wife? Isn't your wife Shannon, who is on death row?" Nigel scoffed.

Gregory pulled a menacing face, his fingers gripping.

Nigel had never acknowledged Shannon as part of the family for the past two decades. It was a pure insult that Nigel would recognize Shannon as Gregory's wife now.

"The truth about Mary's death only came out twenty years later, Dad. I feel bad."

With bloodshot eyes, Gregory poked his chest. "I brought Mary and Justin back against all odds. Even when you objected to my decision, I persisted. I only did it out of love. You can't insult my love for her." Bella frowned. Gregory's words made her sick, especially when he made that statement in the presence of the deceased.

Justin kept a blank face, feeling nothing about the situation.

Mary had been gone for years.

It was disgusting that Gregory did not appreciate Mary when she was alive and showed affection when she was gone.

"Yes, you loved Mary. I couldn't believe it when you begged me to welcome them into the family. That was out of character for you. The man who fought for love in tears was my aloof son."

Nigel snapped a cold glance at Gregory. "I thought Mary brought the love out of you, but I overestimated you. You were only obsessed with her because she was different from the heiresses you encountered. She stood out from the crowd you were used to. Besides, you loved a good competition. You always got what you wanted, whether it was toys, power, or women.

"You could've just lived a good life with Mary, but you lost interest because she was reserved. That was when Shannon showed up and got you wrapped around her little finger. She stirred trouble at home and walked all over Mary, leading to the irreversible tragedy we have in our hands."

Nigel grew indignant and felt embarrassed in front of Mary's gravestone. "I didn't expect you to leave the good woman and choose a wicked one instead. Gregory, the psycho behind bars is your wife. Instead o pretending like you care here, you are better off seeing Shannon for the last time. That's the least you can do as her husband. Don't be an eyesore to Mary."

Nigel struck where it hurt the most.

Gregory opened his pale, dry lips, but the embarrassment choked his words back.

"Come on, Justin, Anna. Come home with me. My newly hired chef will make you something to eat." Nigel turned to the couple happily.

The pair responded and helped Nigel up. "Alright, Grandpa,"

Gregory watched emotionally as Nigel, Justin, and Bella brushed past him like he was nothing to them.

"Why are you still here?"

Nigel snapped at the stiff man. "You are responsible for Mary's death too. If it wasn't for you, Shannon wouldn't have joined the family and started anything. Justin wouldn't have lost his mother at an early age. If you have come to repent, get down on your knees and apologize. The accomplice doesn't deserve to stand before the deceased."
