Chapter 471 Struck Down By Illness
The flight attendant had already left before Lysander opened her eyes and didn’t hear her unfinished sentence. Now, only the two of them were left staring at each other.
Looking calm, Josiah asked, “What are you looking at?”
Lysander realized it wasn’t an illusion and immediately widened her eyes. She instinctively asked, “Was that you speaking just now?”
No wonder she found the voice of the person asking for the blanket familiar.
“Of course,” Josiah chuckled as if puzzled by the question. “Who else could it be? You didn’t finish your sentence earlier. Did you also want a blanket?”
He was tall with long legs, so sitting in economy class meant he couldn’t fully stretch them out. He was forced to sit sideways with one leg crossed over the other, speaking to her in a pose that seemed casual but was actually quite uncomfortable.
Lysander pulled up her mask, muffling her voice. “Let’s wait for the flight attendant to come back.”
The flight attendant returned swiftly, handing over a blanket to Josiah.
“Thank you.”
Lysander quickly said, “Excuse me, could I also…”
Josiah casually draped the blanket over her, saying, “Here’s the blanket you wanted.”
“You should use it. I’ll ask for another one.”
“It was meant for you,” Josiah said, frowning at her haggard appearance. “It’s only been a few days, and you’ve gotten so sick?”
“It was unexpected.”
The blanket did help warm her up a bit.
Lysander asked, “Aren’t you supposed to be in first class? What are you doing here in economy?”
With his hands crossed over his lap, Josiah responded with a question, “What do you think?”
“How did you get like this?”
Lysander’s weariness was obvious. There was no point in pretending otherwise, especially since her voice was thick with congestion. She had to be honest, “It’s nothing, just a cold.”
Her voice was raspy.
Josiah scrutinized her, staring into her eyes as he asked, “Did you stay up late reviewing past summits?”
“Something like that.”
Josiah clearly didn’t believe her and didn’t bother to change his expression.

Now that she was warmer, Lysander felt a bit more spirited and casually replied, “I just caught a cold. It has its cycle, and today’s the worst day. I’ll be fine after this.”
Seeing how much effort it took for her to speak, Josiah sighed. “Is attending this summit worth it when you’re sick?”
Lysander threw the question back at him, “Didn’t you say this summit is a rare opportunity for
newcomers?”
Josiah still had a reason to argue, “I said before that I could take you. Since you’re sick, you could wait another day. It wouldn’t affect your schedule, as the summit isn’t just one day.”
It seemed a bit late to say that now.
Lysander was unwell, and her throat felt like it was splitting, so she didn’t want to argue pointlessly.
However, Josiah started rambling, “I thought you’d have made some progress. But you’re still the same as before: you act like a lone hero at work, but in life, you’re a complete rookie who can’t even take care of yourself.”
“Even the most capable people can’t avoid getting a cold.”
Lysander ended the argument with one sentence, leaned back against the window, and tried to rest. After a while, she opened her heavy eyelids and murmured, “You should go back.”
Josiah pretended not to understand. “Go back where? We’re on a plane. Should I jump off?”
Lysander was just tired, not so confused that she couldn’t understand such a simple matter. As she insisted he leave, her voice became faint.
“Go back to your first–class seat. I saw you and Tiffany at the boarding gate. You left her alone?”
Josiah’s expression was complicated. Seeing her, so tired she couldn’t keep her eyes open, he finally gave up arguing and changed the subject, “She’s an adult. She’s flown alone many times. I’m not her father. Do I have to follow her everywhere? Go to sleep. We still have an hour before we land.”
Finally, it was his turn to tell her this, though it didn’t bring him the satisfaction he expected.
Lysander didn’t respond, nor did she argue. She was too exhausted to muster any energy. She’d been so tired lately.
Josiah reached out, lowered the window shade, and adjusted the blanket over her.
Lysander’s small face was half–hidden in the blanket, and a few stray strands of hair scattered across her forehead. She looked uneasy even in sleep.
Upon seeing her asleep, Josiah realized she would no longer utter words that infuriated him to no end. His gaze softened significantly.
She was more docile when she was asleep.
Otherwise, she would eventually drive him crazy.
An hour had never passed so quickly.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the plane is about to land at Apex City Airport…”
Lysander woke with a shiver. Though she hadn’t slept long, it was a rare deep sleep that restored much of her drained energy.
When the announcement played, passengers couldn’t move around freely anymore.
Recalling the pre–sleep conversation, Lysander sat up straight, feeling frustrated. She told the person next to her, “You and Tiffany can disembark first. I’ll wait a bit longer.”
There was no response.
Lysander turned to check Josiah’s whereabouts and found that he was no longer occupying the seat next to her.
The middle–aged man from earlier had returned, wearing headphones and seemingly oblivious to her words.
Could it be that Josiah’s appearance in the economy class was just a dream I had?
Instinctively, Lysander tightened her grip on the blanket that covered her. After confirming her reality, she banished the thought from her mind. This was definitely not her imagination, he had simply left before she woke up.

Noticing the movement, the middle–aged man removed his headphones and chatted with her. “Are you here on a business trip too? There are so many events lately that we frequent travelers practically live on planes.”
The cramped economy seat made Lysander’s back ache. She agreed, “Yes.”
The middle–aged man was chatty and friendly. “I got lucky this time. A young guy from first class switched seats with me. First class really is much more comfortable.”
