After some thought, Lysander said, “I might not have time for that.”

“It’s okay. You can always come home to eat after you return to the country,” Molly consoled with a smile.
“We’ll see how.”
“Perhaps your father can go and cook for you overseas. The food abroad isn’t that great. Nothing beats the comfort of home-cooked meals.”
“Yes, your mother and I will go and visit you. Don’t worry, for we won’t cause any trouble for you. You can carry on with your work. We’ll only cook and straighten the house up for you,” Howard interjected.
The intense paternal and maternal love came too suddenly that Lysander found it hard to adapt for a moment.
Seeing her lack of response, Howard and Molly felt increasingly lost. They didn’t dare to take her food anymore, fearing she might not like it.
After finishing the meal, all three of them felt quite exhausted.
When it was time to leave, Howard had the service staff pack up all the uneaten food for her to take home. “If you don’t feel like cooking once you get home, you can just reheat them and eat.”
“My mom cooks every day,” Lysander said.
Howard’s hand that held the takeout boxes froze for a moment. He quickly hid his embarrassmen a dry laugh. “Oh yes, that makes sense. You have someone cooking for you every day when you get home, so you don’t need these.”
“Yeah.”
“We’ll take them home, then.” Not wanting to upset her, Howard reassured, “It’s okay, don’t worry about it.”
“Are you both going back to the hospital?” Lysander asked.
“Yeah. Lyss is still in the hospital. Her injuries this time are severe…” Subsequently, Molly hurriedly explained, “Lysa, don’t worry about this. You are our biological daughter. “Your dad and I will go with you,” Laura said.
“I know. I just can’t bear to part with Lysander.” Michelle pouted.
Chuckling, Maverick teased his younger daughter, saying, “Look at you! When your sister went off to university, she handled everything by herself. I was still working at that time. Your mom had to take you to school. So, neither of us could go with her.”
“That’s different! Lysander is my sister, my only sister”
Lysander hugged Michelle, suddenly feeling a pang of sorrow deep within. “I’ll come back home whenever I can. And when you’re on summer break, you can go visit me abroad.”
“Really?” Michelle immediately cheered up. “I’ll definitely go, then!”
“Do you know how much it costs for a flight ticket alone?” Laura sighed softly. “Tens of thousands. Then, there’s your university expenses-
Lysander touched Laura’s arm lightly, signaling her to stop talking.
Maverick, however, said, “Lysa, your sister is an adult now. We can’t keep her sheltered forever. It’s time for her to face some real-world issues.””
Lysander also understood that principle.
However, she always had loved and protected Michelle more.
Having weathered many storms, she didn’t want her sister to share her experience.
This time, Michelle showed great sensibility. “It’s okay. I won’t go anymore, Lysander. But you can come home for Christmas! It would be great if we could celebrate it together.”
