“You… Forget it. I don’t need to bother with a mere anesthesiologist like you. Where’s Lysander? Did she run
off?”
Howard and Molly, behind Leo, persistently tried to persuade him. “Leo, Leo…”
“Aunt Molly, Uncle Howard, you’re just too kind–hearted. Others are bullying Lysanne. I must stand up for her!”
Seeing their persuasion was ineffective, Howard and Molly had no choice but to step in themselves.
Howard made sure his wife was settled before he slowly approached Adrian. “I’m sorry, Doctor. Leo is just overly worried about Lysander. Could you tell me how my daughter, Lysander, is doing now?”
At first glance, Howard and Molly clearly hailed from a respectable household

Adrian’s demeanor softened a bit as he answered truthfully, “Your daughter was in a critical condition due to her advanced stage of pregnancy. After our best efforts to save her, she is no longer in danger. However, she still needs to be hospitalized for observation for a while.”
Upon hearing those words, Howard visibly relaxed. “I’m glad to hear that. That’s good.”
Molly spoke with difficulty, reminding, “The child… Ask about the child…”
Howard quickly asked again, “Doctor, what about my daughter’s unborn child?”
“I’m sorry. We couldn’t save the child.”

“Go ahead and call him, then! It’s about time Mr. Guerra takes a good look at his child to let him see for himself the skin tone of his heir.”
“That’s enough, Lynn,” Lysander called out to stop her.
Lynn frowned, clearly displeased. “Dr. Thorne! We should ask Mr. Guerra to come over and take a look. Then, we’ll see if this guy can keep up his. smug demeanor.”

“Today is Grandma Elisa’s funeral.”
Lynn’s expression subtly shifted, and she fell silent.
News of Elisa’s passing had widely spread throughout the hospital.
Firstly, it was because the Guerra family was indeed reputable, and secondly, it was because Elisa’s death was rather distressing.
Elisa was already on her deathbed, preparing her last affairs. However, Lysanne suddenly barged in and caused a scene. Consequently, it was unclear whether Elisa passed away peacefully or was literally infuriated to death.
Though no one dared to voice their opinions, everyone had their own thoughts on the matter.
Moreover, since Lysanne had caused a scene once when Susan was receiving emergency treatment, so Lysanne was considered a “repeat offender.”
Susan had messaged Lysander the night before to inform the latter that Elisa’s funeral was that day. Susan wanted to inquire whether Lysander could attend the funeral since Elisa was fond of Lysander while she was alive.
Since Susan had to stay in the hospital for observation for the next few days, Josiah had to handle the funeral by himself. She feared the funeral home would be too desolated, and Josiah would be overwhelmed by the matters to attend to alone.
After much contemplation, Lysander still decided to refuse.
After all, she was no longer the Guerra family’s daughter–in–law. Hence, attending the funeral wouldn’t be quite appropriate.
However, she had already made plans. Once the funeral was over, she intended to make a solitary visit to the cemetery to spend some time with Elisa.
Susan seemed to have mentally prepared herself to receive such a response from Lysander. She sighed twice, not insisting further, but merely said, “The death of Josiah’s grandma has a great impact on him. He might not be able to be with Lyss in the future.”
Lysander pretended not to understand Susan’s implication and simply responded, “You should take care of your health first. Let the youngsters deal with it themselves.”
As astute as Susan was, she didn’t press on since Lysander refused to touch the subject after her probing. They exchanged a few pleasantries before hanging up the phone.

Lysander had initially thought that after Elisa’s incident, Lysanne would live in peace for a while, at least until the birth of her child. Unexpectedly, Lysanne came to cause a commotion at the hospital entrance.
Adrian knitted his brows and said, “I really can’t understand what’s going on in this woman’s head. Is she so determined to ruin your reputation that she doesn’t mind risking her own life? Isn’t this just hurting herself more than it hurts you?”
Lysander shook her head, similarly baffled. Her interactions with Lysanne weren’t frequent, and their conflicts were only over the position of Mrs. Guerra. Since she had gracefully stepped back, not even demanding a penny from the Guerra family, logically, the conflict should have ended there. However, it seemed like Lysanne harbored an intense animosity toward Lysander as if that matter concerned significance beyond their competition for a man’s affection.
