Skyler puffed his cheeks, a tinge of melancholy playing across his features.

He and Geoffrey were spitting images of each other. If that child looked anything like Geoffrey, it meant he looked like him, too.

That would be a disaster.

Knowing Geoffrey's ruthless streak, he'd hatch a plan to snatch the child back. He was capable of sscary stuff.

"Angel, I've got a secret to spill." "What kind of secret?" Aurelia inquired.

"Um, Megan's baby might, um, might be Geoffrey's," Skyler whispered so quietly it was nearly inaudible.

Aurelia's eyes widened in shock. "Did Geoffrey tell you that?" Skyler hesitated and then decided to lay it all out. "He didn't say it but textedyesterday, askingto track down the child. So, I guess the child is his. And he tried to frme, saying the child's mine. We're identical twins. If there were a paternity test, his child would match my DNA, too. I can't want to get myself into trouble." Aurelia gave him a knowing look, a wild idea popping into her head. What if the child was Skyler's? If Geoffrey had shereditary defect, he might've used Skyler's contribution instead to prevent passing it on.

Tanya had been slipping Skyler those knock-out drugs. They could have harvested his swimmers while he was out cold, and he'd be none the wiser.

"Don't worry, Skyler. We all know you're a stand-up boy, and no one will get the wrong idea about you." Skyler scratched his head. "Angel, maybe we should just return the child to Geoffrey. Otherwise, he'll do something horrifying, and I don't want you guys to get hurt." Aurelia picked up a candy, handing it to him. "If the child were Geoffrey's, it might make things easier. We can demand he trades Ramona's folks for the child." Skyler looked puzzled. "Geoffrey kidnapped Ramona's parents?" "It was the AK Group kidnapping her parents. But I suspect Geoffrey's the big boss behind the AK Group," Aurelia said gravely.

"Let's keep the Geoffrey and the AK Group thing under wraps for now, especially from your aunt." "Sure." Skyler nodded. He trusted Aurelia's judgment implicitly.

"If Geoffrey comes around again, I'll suggest the hostage exchange." "Yeah." Aurelia smiled faintly. "You're sharp, Skyler." Skyler popped a candy into his mouth, his expression turning to one of confusion. "Angel, I can't figure it out. Why would Geoffrey do all this? Has he lost his mind?" Aurelia sighed. "Maybe he was snatched at birth by a traitor in the Heninger family, groomed to beca sort of demon king." At the mention of a family traitor, only one nsprang to Skyler's mind, but he didn't voice it.

"Poor Geoffrey, when you think about it." "Pity can mingle with contempt," Aurelia said. "We all choose our paths in life. Plenty of people are born into terrible families but don't turn to darkness. They choose the path of goodness. Geoffrey chose to walk down a dark path until the end, sealing his fate to a tragic close." Skyler looked down, contemplative. "Angel, if we handed the kid over to Geoffrey, do you think he would raise him to be a little devil?"
