“I'm so sorry. I didn’t mean any harm. I was trying to save Mom and Dad. They said they would let my parents go if I did as they told me,” Ramona stammered, her voice breaking with desperation.

Kane shook his head, a frown creasing his brow. “You're being too naive. Those guys are ruthless outlaws, not known for keeping their word. Even if you do what they're asking, there's no guarantee they'll release your parents.” “What should I do, then?” Tears cascaded down Ramona’s cheeks like rain in a relentless storm, her sobs heartbreakingly raw.

William pulled out a handkerchief and handed it to her, his face softening. He hated to see a girl cry.

“Don’t worry. SkyWill stands for justice. We'll get your mom and dad back safe and sound.” At the Stirling Mansion, Beverly had just arrived.

When she entered the living room, her eyes locked onto a familiar silhouette.

Her face lit up. “Leopold, you're out of the hospital?” The man turned around, and it was a bodyguard instead of Leopold.

She staggered back, her pulse racing. “Peter? What are you doing here?” Gosh, the guy could have been Leopold's twin. Was this stand-in getting too cozy? Cool as a cucumber, Guardian Leopold replied, “I'm the personal bodyguard for Mrs. Stirling and the young master, at their service around the clock.” Beverly's jaw dropped. Didn't the around-the-clock service sound like bedside service? Could Jessica ignore this? Or was she oblivious to how bold this bodyguard was? Aurelia descended the staircase, fresh from the office.

“Beverly, good to see you. Jessica caught a cold last night from the air conditioning. She's resting in her room. You can pop in to see her.” “Oh,” Beverly nodded, her gaze drifting back to Guardian Leopold. “Aurelia, this Peter is a dead ringer for Leopold as a stand-in. I almost mistook him for the real deal and thought Leopold got discharged.” In her mind, Aurelia snorted, “He is indeed Leopold.” “Of course, the bodyguard has to resemble him. And it’s not just the build. Slookalikes even have the face.” Beverly chuckled. “Ah, Leopold is devilishly handsome. It's impossible to find a second one like him.” Guardian Leopold muffled a snicker. Finally, she said something agreeable.

Aurelia shot him a teasing glance. “Well, his handsface is downright dangerous. Too much for speople to handle, leaving no sense of security.” Leopold ruffled his hair in feigned distress. He was sure he gave more sense of security than Arnold ever could. He was the most secure man on the planet.

Beverly smirked. “If Leopold wasn’t handsome, you wouldn't have fallen for him.” “That's true. Who doesn’t like a hot guy?” Aurelia playfully stuck out her tongue, her designer's eye always for beauty.

Beverly glanced at Guardian Leopold. The guy was easy on the eyes, bold, and flirtatious, not restrained like Elvis. Most women would find him irresistible, especially in their lonelier moments.

Aurelia stood up and went to the fridge, pulling out scold drinks.

Guardian Leopold gave her a hot cocoa. “Aren’t you close to your period? Have a hot cocoa instead.” Last time, she had a painful period, and he got her painkillers, which helped ease the pain.

Aurelia stuck out her tongue again. Boy, Leopold had a good memory.

Beverly caught snippets of their conversation and felt her world spin.

This guy even remembered Aurelia's cycle. They must have been intimate.

She wondered if Aurelia had taken precautions. If not, a baby was on the way, which would be a disaster.

Should she drop a well-meaning hint? Just then, Kane returned home.

Guardian Leopold walked over and tousled his hair. “You're all sweaty, buddy. Did you have a gym class today? Let's go up, and I'll help you with a shower.”
