“You feeling all better now? Everything's back in working order?” Aurelia teased with a wink.

Leopold choked on his beer, furrowing his brow. “What do you mean?” “You know, after that food poisoning scare, you had that messed with your... sperm. Otherwise, why would Elowen have gone for IVF?” Aurelia murmured, pursing her lips in a mischievous smile.

Under the soft glow of the pub lights, Leo's dark eyes twinkled with a sly glint. “I never had any issues. But if I didn’t play that card, my dad and aunt would had breathed down my neck about settling down.” Aurelia widened her eyes in mock and shock. “So you were just blowing smoke! I never pegged you to bring shon yourself.” Leopold shrugged nonchalantly, a roguish grin playing on his lips. “A guy's gotta keep himself pure for his future wife, doesn’t he?” Aurelia flirtatiously rolled her eyes. “Right, you seem to be suntouched choir boy who's never been with another woman.” She was pretty sure his first twas with Megan. But the countless one-night stands that might have followed were beyond her guess.

Leo’s smile faded into seriousness. He felt the need to set the record straight.

“What if I told you that you're the only woman for me? Would you believe that?” Aurelia nearly choked on her drink, her eyes bulging. It was as if she’d seen pigs flying by the light of a blue moon. “What are you saying now?” He leaned in, his fingers gently lifting her chin. “You Are The Only Woman For Me,” he declared, enunciating each word with conviction.

She swallowed hard, with numerous butterflies in her stomach. “That's impossible!” She shook her head so vigorously. This was more sci-fi than an alien landing on Earth.

The guy she married was in his twenties, definitely straight, in perfect health, with a libido to match. How could he possibly still be a virgin? She didn’t and wouldn't believe it.

Sure, she wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, but she wasn’t foolish enough to believe something so implausible, right? Leopold sighed. He knew she wouldn't take his word for it.

“I don’t touch women I don’t fancy,” he stated simply.

A pang hit Aurelia’s chest. ,In her mind, he'd never fancied her either.

He was a high-flying CEO, handsas sin, powerful, and filthy rich. She was just an inconspicuous staffer, as plain as they cand not to mention broke.

If it weren't for that hospital mix-up, their paths would have never crossed.

She vividly remembered his disdain, the way he looked at her with contempt and annoyance. If it weren't for Arnold stepping in as a rival, turning the unwanted into the desired, he'd probably have divorced her and kicked her to the curb long ago.

“Am I not the type of woman you don’t fancy?” she challenged.

Leopold cupped her face, his thumbs caressing her cheeks. “Do you see yourself that low?” “I'm realistic,” she said, a wistful smile tugging at her lips.

She had told him that so many times before.

Leopold couldn't deny initially that he wasn’t taken with her, suspecting her of being a schemer.

But she had slipped into his heart step by step, filling his entire being, all over.

“You've got more going for you than anyone else,” he said earnestly.

Aurelia sighed softly. Right now, he found her appealing only because someone else had shown interest.

A potent man’s desire to win was beyond imagination.

“Weren't you and Megan an item before? You expectto believe nothing happened between you two?” With a flick, Leopold popped her forehead. “When have I ever been with Megan? She's not my type.” Aurelia felt a bead of sweat form. “Everyone thought she was your first love, your dream lover.” And she had believed it too.
