The set was abuzz with excitement as Avery's latest film began production, and the buzz grew louder when they heard the ending song would be a duet by Marianne, the indie darling with a voice that could soothe the fiercest storms. Serenity Films made the call that Avery and Marianne would record the song together.

Their chemistry in the stuwas undeniable, and the recording session went off without a hitch.

After wrapping up for the day, Avery asked his manager, Leah, to book a local fancy restaurant renowned for its delicious food.

"I've heard their roast leg of lamb is to die for," Marianne said with a grin as they settled into their seats.

Leah's lips twitched into a half-smile, half-smirk. She had chosen this place because Avery was a big fan of hearty meals, not because of Marianne's cravings.

Soon enough, the waiter served the roast lamb, sizzling on a spit, ready to be carved and enjoyed.

Marianne raised her beer in a toast. "To Avery, to Leah, and to what I reckon are the happiest days of my life," she said, her eyes sparkling. "Doing the work I love and getting up close and personal with my idol." Avery chuckled and teased, "Weren't you happy before?" "Not really," Marianne shrugged, her honesty as direct as it was disarming. "My dad had an affair and divorced my mom, who, in turn, took up with syoung stud. They both remarried, had more kids, and wanted nothing to do with me. So off abroad I went to study, pretty much on my own, like an orphan." Her smile held a tinge of melancholy as she recounted the day her father brought his mistress into their home. In a fit of rage, Marianne had pushed her down the stairs, causing a miscarriage. She was too young for criminal charges, but her father was furious and sent her away.

She didn't regret it, though. That home-wrecker got what she deserved.

From that day forward, she had never visited her father's house.

Avery carved off two generous pieces of lamb, passing one to Leah and the other one to Marianne.

"Tolstoy once said, 'All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way," he mused.

"Don't let your original family cast a shadow over you." Marianne savored a bite of lamb, then smiled warmly. "I'm naturally optimistic. A good meal can cheerup if I feel down." "That's something you and Leah have in common," Avery said and laughed.

Leah pulled a face but couldn't help feeling ssympathy for Marianne. She had pegged her as a spoiled rich girl, but clearly, there was more to her story.

"Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we may die," Leah quipped as she dug into the lamb with gusto.

Avery gave another piece of lamb to Leah and said with affection, “Here, little foodie. Have more.” His favorite thing to do was give her plenty of food and watch her eat like a horse.

Leah took a bite and gave him a thumbs-up. “Oh my god, it's good!” Outside the room, fans' screams pierced the air, having spotted their idol as he arrived.

"Avery!" "My love!" Such scenes were routine for Avery. With his dashing good looks and charming presence, even a hat and mask couldn't hide him from his eagle-eyed fans.

Leah glanced at Marianne with a playful smirk. "You weren't one of those crazy fans once, were you?" Marianne stuck out her tongue. "As the head of one of Avery's fan clubs, I was always classy and level-headed." "And smart," Leah teased. "Making your fan dreams ctrue firsthand." Marianne blushed as her phone rang. It was her estranged father, Quentin Clark, whom she hadn't spoken to in ages.

"I'll take this call," she said, excusing herself to a quiet corner of the room.

Pressing the phone to her ear, she heard her father's voice. "Marianne, are you back in the country?" She snorted. "I thought you dialed the wrong number, Mr. Clark. What made you remembertoday?"
