Chapter 546

Perla wept hysterically and threatened to end it all. "Ritchie is my lifeblood. If he goes to jail, I might as well be dead. He doesn't have any kids, our family line ends with him."

Belinda suddenly raised her hand to slap Perla, "This is all your fault. You spoiled him. The Hawthorne family must've been cursed to have you as a daughter-in-law. Always siding with outsiders against your own family.

Look at Jolin, she raised two successful kids, while you can't even handle one. Ritchie's downfall is all on you.

Perla was stunned, too shocked to even cry. “I only have one son, and what's wrong with spoiling him?

Compared to all those spoiled rich kids causing trouble everywhere, Ritchie is a saint.”

“Your stubbornness won't help here, go argue with the police, with the judge, see if they'll let Ritchie go free; Belinda scolded. She had another successful grandson to focus on and had given up on the prodigal Ritchie.

Aurelia had spoken to a special operations officer that Ritchie had been used as a pawn, unknowingly involved in criminal activities, he hadn't committed any violent crimes and wouldn't be sentenced harshly, parole was possible. However, she didn't plan on bailing him out. He needed a good lesson to turn his life around.

Perla was still not recognizing her mistakes. She sobbed, "Ritchie is my only son, and I was counting on him to take care of me when I'm old. If he's locked up, what will happen to me and Zack?" "Maybe some hard labor will straighten him out, rid him of his vices. It's better than him running wild, hanging out with the worst of society, and ending up in a worse situation. Then it would be too late for your tears,"

Belinda advised.

Perla felt like banging her head against the wall, "Mom, you used to adore Ritchie. Why have you given up on him now? He is the first grandson of the Hawthorne family.”

Belinda scoffed. She did adore Ritchie, but he never gave her a cent after making money. All he did was ask her for more. He was nothing but an ingrate. Unlike Aurelia and Avery, who let her live in a mansion, and hired maids to cater to her every need. Whatever she wanted, she just had to ask and it would be delivered.

"Raising children, isn't it all for someone to take care of us in our old age?" she mused.

"I'm old, and I can't be bothered with his issues. Don't bother me about this anymore, and let me live out my remaining years in peace"

She leaned back in her chair, calling a maid over to wash some strawberries for her.

"Perla, these strawberries are pretty good. Take a box home with you.”

Hearing it, Perla was flabbergasted, her anger boiling over. "You're so indifferent. Ritchie is in trouble, and you're here eating strawberries.”

Belinda shot her a look, replying, "I have more than one grandson. You're the one who'll be left with no one to care for you in old age, not me."

That hit Perla where it hurt. She went pale and stormed out in a huff.

Belinda turned to Aurelia, "How long will Ritchie be sentenced?”

"He could get parole,” Aurelia replied.

Belinda nodded, “Let him spend some time inside. It'll teach him a lesson, to know right from wrong."

Kerry was locked up, and Megan, who'd been hoping for her downfall, couldn't bring herself to feel happy. Once the police discovered her connection with AK Group, they'd haul her in for questioning.

And just as Leopold predicted, the boss had no intention of letting her take over for Kerry but had someone else in mind. It frustrated her to no end. She wanted to be the only one in charge, not under someone else's thumb.
