Chapter 466

Aurelia bolted straight to the bathroom as soon as she got home, tears already welling up in her eyes.

She turned on the faucet, letting the sound of the running water drown out all else, before she buried her face in her hands, sobbing uncontrollably.

She knew she couldn't believe Leopold, but deep down, she still clung to a sliver of hope, hoping that he was working on some covert plan, that he had no choice but to divorce her and marry Megan, just like three years ago, that he would keep his promise and come back after six months. Now, all her hopes were being mercilessly consumed by Megan's pregnancy, leaving nothing but despair.

She used to believe she was nonchalant, able to let go easily, never to be toyed with by Leopold. But now she realized that she wasn't as strong, as carefree, or as smart as she thought. Once love seeped in, it was hard to let go. That was why she repeatedly fell for his tricks, fell for his deceit. Tears streamed through her fingers like a gushing spring, mirroring the endless sadness

in her heart.

Suddenly, her phone rang. It was a call from Leopold. Anger welled up inside her, and she hung up on him.

He called again, so she shut off her phone.

Leopold was outside the villa. The Hawthorne family was inside, and it was late, so he couldn't go in.

Seeing her turn off her phone, he sighed in frustration, knowing she was probably still fuming. Maybe she'd cool off by tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Aurelia didn't cool off.

The next morning, as soon as Leopold got to his office, he called her, “Come to my office.” “Alright, Mr. Leopold.” Her response was aloof. She hung up, having no intention of going, and letting him wait.

After waiting half an hour with no sign of Aurelia, Leopold had no choice but to call Yuna to fetch her.

But Aurelia had no desire to go, and she said, “Tell Mr. Leopold I'm busy today. I don't have

time to go to his office.”

Yuna could tell that Aurelia was giving Mr. Leopold the cold shoulder and tactfully withdrew.

The resentment brewing in Aurelia’s chest was expanding quietly, like a hot air balloon on the brink of bursting.

Just then, the door to her office was pushed open, and Leopold's tall figure showed at the entrance.

Everyone outside was too scared to make a sound and buried themselves in their work, pretending they hadn't seen anything.

It was the first time Mr. Leopold had stepped into the Design Department's office. Aurelia shot him an annoyed look, “What's the big deal that warrants your personal visit, Mr. Leopold?”

Leopold closed the door of her office and drew the curtains.

“I told you not to believe everything you see and hear. Have you forgotten?”

She snorted, “Speak plainly, please. No riddles. I'm not smart enough to understand

them.”

Leopold walked up to her, spun her chair around, and looked at her solemnly with his hands on the armrests, “I won't touch another woman besides you.”

She scoffed. So where did Megan's baby come from?

She shook herself out of her thoughts, “Megan didn't conceive naturally. She used artificial insemination?”

Leopold choked, flicked her forehead lightly, “You think too much.”

"What else could it be?” She pouted, grumbling, “Don't tell me you're willing to accept that Megan cheated on you and had a child with another man?”

“As long as you don't cheat on me, I won't mind anyone else.” The only woman he cared about was her.

Aurelia was taken aback. What was he up to? She found him more and more difficult to understand. But she had to admit, the anger in her chest was slowly dying down.

That was what it was like to love someone. Her emotions got led by him, and she was afraid to lose him.

"Anyway, in six months, if you can't fulfill all your promises, I'll remarry right away. We'll break off all relations and never contact each other again.”

The corners of his mouth lifted slightly as he agreed, “Deal.”
