Her eyes widened in shock, almost letting out a shriek.

“Leopold, why are you still here?”

His eyebrows furrowed in resentment. “Are you that eager for me to leave?”

She scoffed, a nonchalant expression on her face. “You're someone else's husband now. So it doesn’t matter to me whether you're here or not.”

A hint of hurt flashed in Leopold's eyes. “Do you really not care about me at all?”

She was filled with a sense of sorrow and irony. Why should she care about a man who had abandoned her?

“Without you, I'm relaxed, comfortable, happy. Really!”

Hearing her reply, shadow of pain spread across his eyes.

He was not relaxed, not comfortable, and certainly not happy!

“In front of me, you're always so ruthless and hurtful.”She was always pricking him and leaving him wounded.

A bitter smile appeared on her face. “That's my way to protect myself from harm.”

She wished she were really ruthless so she wouldn't get hurt over and over again.

Her eyes reddened, becoming moist. Leopold noticed her subtle expressions, and he couldn't resist pulling her into his arms.

"Whether you care or not, you're still my woman. I won't really leave you, and you're not allowed to leave me either.”

There was a domineering tone in his voice. Aurelia forcefully pushed him away with a flush of anger. “Leopold, I am a human being, not a toy or trophy. Can you please respect me? I'm not Elowen or Evelyn. They might fawn over you, ready to fall at your feet and do everything for you whenever you wanted. But I won't. To me, you're dispensable. As long as you're not divorced from Megan, don't get close to me, don't bother me, and stay away. Let's keep some dignity.”

There was nothing Leopold could say. He punched the car door in frustration.

“I will come back in half a year. You're not allowed to date anyone else, or we'll both lose face.” His words carried a threatening tone, and his face was menacing

A shiver ran down Aurelia’s spine, and questions began to cloud her mind.

"Don't expect to have fun and father a bunch of illegitimate children, then come back. I'm fastidious, and I don't want a dirty man!”

He cupped her face, staring at her intensely. “I won't touch any other woman but you. No matter what you hear or see, don't believe it.”

Aurelia didn't believe him. He had slept with Megan, and the video couldn't be wrong, could

Her phone rang. It was Jolin.

“Aurelia, did you get the flour? Why have you been gone so long?”

“The convenience store was out, so I went to the supermarket across the street. I'll be back soon.” She hung up and tried to get out of the car, but Leopold pulled her back in and kissed her deeply. She felt dizzy for a moment and tried to push him away, but her body felt numb and she couldn't muster any strength.

His kisses were always so passionate, as if they could set her aflame.

“Merry Christmas, honey!” His eyes were filled with tenderness and desire, and he was reluctant to let her lips go.

Aurelia wanted to correct him, she was no longer his wife but his ex-wife, but she swallowed her words and simply said, “Merry Christmas.”

Back home, Avery was playing poker with Arnold and Elvis.

Aurelia handed the cornstarch to her mother and went over to watch the game.

She was a pro at poker.
