Her son, Kane, was so understanding, so well-behaved. She had to protect him, keeping him safe from anyone who sought to do him harm.

Jelena pursed her lips, having children too early was not a good thing. It tied you down. She'd rather be an mature mother than lose her freedom now.

When Aurelia got home, Kane was already asleep. Seeing that Leopold hadn't come home, she felt a wave of worry. He must still be at the motel with that influencer, and wouldn't be coming home tonight.

After a shower, she lay down next to Kane. But she couldn't sleep and didn’t want to disturb her son, so she went to the next room.

Images of Leopold being intimate with Megan and the influencer kept flashing through her mind. Each image was like a sharp dagger, slashing at her heart, leaving her bleeding inside.

She clenched the blanket tightly, so tight that her fingers began to tremble.

She was furious. That damned Leopold, that jerk. Even if he regretted it one day and wanted to come back, she wouldn't take him back.

They'll just be a married couple in name only, total strangers to each other.

In the middle of the night, the bedroom door was quietly pushed open.

Leopold didn't plan to come back, but he couldn't resist. He snuck back home in the middle of the night because he missed Aurelia. Not seeing her for a day made him miss her. He wanted to see her, even if it was just a stolen glance.
