Aurelia spoke in a hushed tone, "Jessica had sympathy for Elfreda and wanted her to rejoin to the Stirling family. She had Leopold send people to Goldendell to bring Elfreda back and surprise Raines. But, Elfreda disappeared. They couldn't find her in any sanatorium in Goldendell or the neighboring towns. She never checked into any of them." "What?" Beverley gasped, a spasm of shock running through her, "Then why did Lisbeth say Elfreda was sent to a distant sanatorium? Could something have happened to her?" Aurelia said, "It's all very strange. Haven't you noticed how odd both Raines and Lisbeth have been acting? Raines has completely changed, and even if he gets seriously ill, his whole personality won't just switch." Beverley shuddered, "You're suggesting that the person who cback isn't Raines at all, but an imposter?" "I don't know for sure.
