It seemed like Lisbeth's words had struck a chord with Sheryl.

Perhaps Aurelia had set Jelena up with Fredric. Or, how else had that temptress ended up in Fredric's company? As silence wrapped around them, Lisbeth patted Sheryl’s hand reassuringly. "Sheryl, you know I've got your back. But Aurelia is the matriarch of the family. If she steps in, she might sway the others. Get yourself prepared." Sheryl's face turned blue with anger, and she was about to confront Aurelia.

Aurelia had just finished a department meeting when Sheryl called. She headed down to a quiet booth in the coffee shop.

Sheryl was fuming as she cut to the chase. "Aurelia, you've gotall screwed up. Fredric's been messing around with Jelena, and you assuredthere was nothing between them. I've been kind to you since you married into the Stirling family, never a cross word between us, yet you've been stabbingin the back all this time. That's pretty cold-hearted of you." Aurelia knew she'd be the scapegoat, suffering from great grievance.

"Sheryl, please calm down. I only found out about this a day before you did." Then she told Sheryl about the party that night.

"Jelena was drunk, and somebody drugged Fredric. They didn't even know who they were with when it happened. The person to blis the one who drugged Fredric. He's the instigator." Sheryl scoffed, "For all we know, Jelena could've been the one to drug him." Aurelia snorted. "If Jelena wanted to throw herself at him, would she need to drug him? You know what Fredric's like. He's no saint.

If a woman throws herself at him, would he turn her down? He takes whatever he’s got." A hint of a smirk tugged at Sheryl's lips. Aurelia had hit a nerve.

"He's been with plenty of women but never considered marrying one. Why did he suddenly push for a divorce after sleeping with Jelena? Is she pressuring him?" Sheryl was still of the persuasion that it was Jelena who had seduced him.

Aurelia replied, "It was Fredric's idea. How many men in the Stirling family have stayed faithful to their marriages? They get bored and want a change. Didn't Chad try to divorce Jessica for Magnolia once, setting a fine example for his sons?" The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but luckily for Chad, only one of his sons went rotten.

Sheryl clenched her teeth, holding back her anger.

"So, what's your plan for handling this?" Aurelia said, "Didn't Leopold and Jessica make their stance this morning? They're on your side. As for me, I made you a promise. I'll support justice, not just my family. I won't go back on my word. The wronged one here is Jelena. She was still a virgin, and Fredric took her virginity and broke her heart. No matter what, he owes her compensation. I don't want him to divorce you and marry Jelena. He won't make a good husband. If he could do this to you today, he would do it to her tomorrow." She paused and added, "As for what kind of compensation, it's for you and Fredric to discuss. I'll talk to my cousin, too." Sheryl sipped her coffee, swallowing down her anger.

She didn't trust Aurelia, but there was no benefit in openly breaking ties with her. She wasn't a fool. For all she knew, Aurelia might be hoping for a showdown.

Sheryl thought inwardly, “If I made a scene, Aurelia would surely reveal my misdeeds to Leopold and Jessica, and then they wouldn't supportanymore.” She had to wait and see what Aurelia would do.

"Regardless, I'll choose to trust you for now. Let's hope you don't letdown," said Sheryl.

After she left, Aurelia exhaled deeply, leaned back on the sofa, and took a silent sip of her coffee.
