Chapter 79 Doesn't Like Any of Them!

Claire: What did you mean by 38 dollars?

Sean: Guess.

Claire frowned. How was she supposed to guess?

She messaged him back with the sticker of a pitiful-expression. He responded with a sticker of patting her on the head.

Claire grumpily threw her phone to the side. Sean was not going to tell her, it seemed. How tragic.

When Jason saw Sean staring at his phone with a slight smile on his face, he, happily chuckled. "They'll be fine for two days, Mr. Sean. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Your love will strengthen from a temporary parting."

Sean's gaze remained trained on his phone when a thought suddenly struck him He glanced up at Jason. "Call Victor later on and tell him to keep a closer eye on Claire. He is to buy them anything they need." Kids these days really liked giving everything they had to their significant others while still being afraid that they were inadequate lovers.

Jason grinned as he shook his head. "Mr. Sean, Miss Donovan is a capable woman Not only did she buy over Solstice Industries, but she also paid for the apartment upfront. The car she drives is worth around a million. She is not short on cash."

"Yes, that's true."

When Sean recalled the meal Claire treated him to, his grin widened. "She is very stingy, though."

Claire was sprawled out on the couch when she suddenly sneezed. She held a hand up to her forehead.

Huh. She was not burning up, so why did she sneeze?

Three hours later, the plane landed in Ascalon.

Every Vanderbilt who was unmarried would live with Master and Madam

Vanderbilt in the ancestral family home.

When Sean arrived at the old mansion, lunch was already being served. He did not tell anyone of his arrival and walked straight into the dining hall.

Madam Vanderbilt squinted her eyes at the man who had just walked into the door and nudged her husband with an elbow. "Dear, am I seeing things? Why do I see our fifth son at the door?"

Master Vanderbilt looked up and instantly spotted their son about which he was constantly worried. He blankly stared in shock for a moment before swiftly snapping back to his senses. "You are now! The brat is back!"

"Oh, my son!"

Madam Vanderbilt promptly put her cutlery down to dart out of her seat and run over to Sean. Her reaction nearly caused Master Vanderbilt's blood pressure to rise.

"Slow down! Do you think you're still a teenager?"

Madam Vanderbilt was so excited that she immediately darted over to Sean and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. "Oh, Sean, I have missed you so much! You're finally back!"

Sean gently patted her on the back and softly chuckled. "I haven't had lunch yet, Mom."

"Oh, that's right. Come, let's eat!"

Madam Vanderbilt led Sean over to the table by hand as she wiped her tears away with the other hand. "Why didn't you tell us you were coming back? I would've asked the chef to cook your favorites. It has been four years since you went away, yet you never once came back or asked about me."

Complaining aside, Madam Vanderbilt continued to hold onto Sean's hand and

made him sit beside her.

The moment a servant placed a new set of plates and cutlery on the table, Madam Vanderbilt started placing food on Sean's plate. "Look at you. You're so thin! You need to eat more meat. Here you are, some fish as well

Before long, Sean's plate was overflowing with food, causing Master Vanderbilt to frown as he watched. Regardless of how old their children were, mothers would always feel that their children never ate enough. "Enough. You're spoiling him. He can serve himself!"

Madam Vanderbilt angrily glared at him. "If I don't spoil him, who will?"

Master Vanderbilt heaved a heavy sigh. His wife was great at everything

except for the fact that she was always spoiling Sean.

Sean softly chuckled and turned to nod at Master Vanderbilt. "Good to see you, Dad!"

Master Vanderbilt was truthfully a softie on the inside. He spoiled Sean rotten more than anyone else. However, he never once spoke of it. He merely expressed it through his actions. "It's good that you're back. Focus on your food."

Sean turned to look at Frederick who was sitting across from him and greeted through pursed lips, "Hi, Fred! Everything great?"

Be it in attire or behavior, Frederick always had an air of scholarly elegance around him.

Today, he was wearing a button-down shirt. He greeted as he nodded to Sean, "Well, Sean. Good to see you!"

Sean smiled and stopped talking as he focused on his food.

In the Vanderbilt household, people rarely conversed at the dinner table.

After all, their ancestors had decreed that mealtimes and bedtimes were meant to be spent in silence. It was a rule that the Vanderbilts had kept throughout the centuries.

However, since Sean was finally back home after four whole years, Madam Vanderbilt found it a little hard to restrain herself.

"Sean, Gabriel's kids are getting married soon. If things go well, they'll be married by next year. What about you? Are you still single?"

Sean elegantly worked his way through his food as he calmly responded, "I just arrived, Mom."

"Why does it matter?" Madam Vanderbilt unhappily pouted. "You're handsome and you're quite rich. Why do none of the women make the first move?"

"There are women who do that," Frederick said, unable to resist defending Sean. "He just doesn't like any of them.

It was something that only he among everyone in the household could understand.

It would have been fine if he had kept quiet as Madam Vanderbilt flew into a fit of rage the moment he spoke. "Doesn't like any of them? I have to ask the two of you who insist on being forever bachelors. Is it better to sleep in a cold bed all by yourself or with someone who can keep the bed warm with you?"

Forever bachelors?

How could a mother say that of her sons?

Frederick pressed his lips together and kept quiet.

If he had known this would happen, he would never have spoken up to defend Sean. He had suffered a great loss by drawing hostile attention to himself.

Sean glanced at him and happily chuckled. "Of course, it's better to sleep in a warm bed."

Master Vanderbilt silently stared.

Madam Vanderbilt was speechless with shock.

While Frederick was at a loss for words.

Something was up!

Madam Vanderbilt was instantly filled with adrenaline. She abandoned her food and placed her cutlery down as she turned to ask, “Sean, you're seeing

someone?"

Sean did not say a word and continued to slowly eat the food Madam Vanderbilt had placed on his plate.

The more composed he acted, the more the others speculated.

Madam Vanderbilt's face nearly split in half from how hard she was grinning. "Is it the girl Jason mentioned last time?"

Sean chuckled. "We haven't even talked about the possibility of marriage."

"Oh, you really are dating someone! That's good!"

Dating someone was just a hop, skip, and a jump away from marriage.

As Sean was her child, Madam Vanderbilt could tell from the way he was smiling that marriage was very possible.

Since Sean wanted to keep it a secret, Madam Vanderbilt left it alone as she was not as narrow-minded as to force him to tell her everything.

When she turned to look at Frederick, she huffily scowled at him.
