Chapter 3
I held my twins tightly as I saw a tall person coming toward us. The streetlight was dim, so I couldn’t see much of his face except that he was tall and seemed a bit scary.
The three men looked at each other and started laughing. They slowly approached the man who had just parked his car and formed a circle around him, looking threatening.
The man stood his ground confidently, not moving at all, even though the three men were glaring at him.
I watched from a distance, slowly moving away but still interested in what was happening.
There was a big difference in height between them. The man in the middle was much taller than the other three. He had a strong presence that you couldn’t ignore. He had a strange feeling around him that made the atmosphere tense and suspenseful.
The man in the middle remained silent while one of the three men asked arrogantly, “Do you think you can beat us? There are three of us and you’re alone! We outnumber you – what chance do you have?”
I noticed that the man in the middle tightened his jaw and clenched his fists. His b*dy language showed that he was intensely angry, but he was trying hard to stay calm and composed.
The three men laughed again. Then, two of them looked at me, and the man in the middle stood in front of him.
I was on high alert, ready to run away at any moment, but they were too fast for me. Before I knew it, they had grabbed hold of me.
One of my twin, Alex, started crying, and it felt like my heart was being torn apart. The pain was unbearable as I looked at them with pleading eyes, hoping they would show mercy.
“No! Please! You’ll hurt my babies!” I begged desperately.
But they didn’t have any mercy. They even tried to take Emily away from me without caring about how I felt. In that moment, my heart shattered, and I dropped to my knees, holding Alex tightly, as they tried to take her away. Tears streamed down my face, and all I could think about was not being able to protect her.
“No!” I cried out in agony and despair as they forcefully took my daughter away.
“What should we do with her?” they taunted, looking menacing and mocking. I shook my head and I started moving closer to them in a desperate attempt to get my daughter back. But they reacted quickly and threatened me with a knife that suddenly appear out of nowhere.
“Do anything stupid and you’ll die-”
Suddenly, the man was sent flying with a powerful punch before he could finish his sentence.
I felt a sense of dread as I looked up to see who had punched the man with the knife. From this angle, I could finally see his face clearly.
His expression was angry and fierce, completely different from the fear that had consumed me. In that moment, all my worries disappeared.
I could hardly believe my eyes as I looked at the perfect figure in front of me. It was like I was staring at a god. He was incredibly beautiful, without any imperfections.
He stood tall, exuding confidence and power. Everything about him seemed flawless, from his height and broad shoulders to his dignified manner.
“Give me the baby,” he demanded sharply. The man holding my baby looked around and I realized he was now alone. To my surprise, the other two men were lying on the ground, knocked down in an instant.
The man was worried and afraid all of a sudden. He quickly turned around, as if he wanted to escape. Just as he was about to run away, I suddenly jumped a little when someone hit him in the face. As a result, he was about to fall to the ground. But then, the tall man swiftly grabbed my baby and kicked the man who was holding her.
I couldn’t find the right words to say when I glanced around. At this moment, the three men were lying on the floor, all beaten up. Everything occurred so quickly that I couldn’t fully understand what had just taken place when the man began to speak.
“Here’s your baby.”
Alex’s tears gradually cease as I took Emily from the man. I hold my twins close to me and can’t control my tears of happiness because for a moment there I thought we were in imminent danger of losing our lives in that place.
“Thank you so much…” I quietly said, and then I turned my gaze towards the man. With the bright illumination from the nearby street lights, I could finally make out his face clearly even this close.
A charming smile appeared on his face as he nodded, “You need to be cautious. Where is your husband? He shouldn’t leave you alone with your little ones.”
I felt my heart start beating faster when he talked about my husband. I think he noticed that my energy changed suddenly, so he quickly started talking about something else.
“Where are you headed right now, all by yourself with your little ones?”
I gently nibbled on my lower l*p, feeling a sudden fear creeping into my mind. The scary thought that crossed my mind was that if he were to leave me alone here, Damon might come looking for me. And if that were to occur, he would try to take away my precious babies. I absolutely cannot allow that to happen!
“Take me with you, please…”
“What?” The man appeared extremely surprised. His eyebrows shot up, his eyes widened, and his mouth fell open in astonishment.
I let out a deep breath filled with sadness and hopelessness, saying, “To put it simply, things have gotten really difficult. The bottom line is that I’m escaping from my husband because his family wants to kill me.”
“What the-”
Before he could do anything else, I quickly interrupted him by saying, “Please, I really need your help to get away from this place. Our lives are in serious danger.”
The man closed his mouth tightly. He stared directly into my eyes for what seemed like a very long time before he let out a deep breath.
“Fine, I’ll take you with me.”
