Chapter 475

The phone line crackled to life as she held her breath, “Hello?”

“Where are you?” Lysander’s voice was icy, low and commanding.

Thalassa glanced nervously at Leopold. She was holding her breath as she carefully replied, “At home.”

“I’m on my way.” Lysander’s rich baritone voice declared.

Before she could respond, he had ended the call.

Thalassa’s heart pounded with anxiety. A taxi happened to pass by, and she hastily flagged it down. Without an extra word with Leopold, she instructed the driver to

move.

She had to beat Lysander to her home, and to wear the necklace before he arrived:

Otherwise, Lysander would know she had lied.

Leopold watched the taxi retreat into the distance; his fists clenched and his eyes were filled with sorrow and longing.

He knew it was Lysander who had called her.

She literally lied to hide the fact that she was being with him.

Did she care so much about Lysander’s feelings?

Thalassa, what do I do to be with you? He thought.

Thalassa’s journey home was fraught with worry and impatience. Finally, the taxi pulled up to her building.

She sprang from the vehicle and dashed towards the door.

Upon reaching the door, she found it locked. She sighed with relief, fumbled for her keys, and unlocked it.

As the door opened, a chilling, oppressive sensation swept over her.

Thalassa félt her heart stop beating.

The room was dark; not a single light was on.

She reassured herself, not allowing her fear to get the best of her. Lysander didn’t have her keys, so how could he possibly be inside?

She stepped into the apartment and flicked on the light switch.

The light illuminated the room, and a dark, imposing figure on the couch immediately caught her attention.

Thalassa’s heart stopped on seeing that picture.

Lysander turned his head, his hawk-like eyes fixing on her.

She could feel the heaviness and the danger bore in those eyes.

It was so intense that Thalassa felt a heaviness pressing on her chest, a wave of panic washing over her.

He was toying with the platinum necklace with her hands; the pendant was hanging below his slender fingers.

Thalassa’s heart pounded even faster on seeing such a scene.

Without waiting for him to question her, she began explaining, “I had taken off my backpack and the necklace when I got home; and I left them by the entrance. Then I suddenly wanted some coffee, so I took my phone and went out, forgetting to wear the necklace. When I heard you were coming, I rushed back home without even finishing my coffee.”

Lysander’s gaze remained intense.

Thalassa, fearing he didn’t believe her, added hastily, “It’s true. Look, I was in such a hurry that I spilled my coffee on myself.”

She tugged at her shirt, showing him the coffee stain.

Lysander’s cold gaze fell on her stained shirt for a moment. “I’ve told you to keep the necklace on you at all times. Seems like you forget easily?”

“I won’t forget next time,” Thalassa promised hastily.

Seeing her on tenterhooks, Lysander finally looked away. “This is your last warning. He dropped his words.

She breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing him drop the matter. She moved to sit on the couch, leaving a seat between them.

But before she could sit, he grabbed her wrist, pulling her into his arms.

His strong arm encircled her slender waist, his stubbly face brushing against her ear.

The strong scent of his cologne made Thalassa’s heart flutter, her voice trembling slightly, “Mr. Sinclair…”

“I want you…” His voice was low and husky, his kisses trailing down her delicate neck.
