Chapter 4

Natalie woke up with a sharp gasp, disoriented in the dimly lit cell that confined her. A whimper escaped her l*ps when she tried to sit up properly. Her stomach throbbed in great pain just then does she remember what had happened. A tear falls down her cheeks, her hands wrapped around her tummy. She shook her head, refusing to believe the words. echoing in her head. She’s quick to stand up, ignoring the pain that shoots up her abdomen at the sudden intrusion. She flings herself to the iron bars, grabbing the bars tightly. “Help me!” She screamed out, desperate, her anxiety shooting up.

She heard the door croak creepily, someone heard her screams, and hope filled her heart. “Please help me. I need, I need a doctor. I need help.” She stammered, the vulnerability in her voice matching the tremor in her fragile b*dy.

“A doctor? You dream too high, Natalie. What do you need a doctor for though? She asked. Natalie swallowed hard, stepping away from the bars just a bit, she wrapped her arms around her stomach.

“My baby. I can’t..” She trailed off, her throat constricting with air. She has to wait. A doctor will assure her that everything is fine. he will.

“Baby? Your baby is gone, Natalie. You had a miscarriage and now.” She grinned almost maniacally at Natalie. “Now, even your baby has left you. It knows you don’t deserve to be a mother and left before it could be born.” Natalie shook her head, refusing to believe the words leaving Eleanor’s mouth.

“What? You don’t believe me?” She asked, then smiled, “Look between your legs. That bastard in your womb is gone. You couldn’t protect your child and now your only hope is gone. You don’t deliver anything good.”

“No, No, No, No” You’re lying. You’re a f**kling liar. I didn’t lose my child. My child is here with me.” Natalie screamed, shaking her head even though the voice from before wouldn’t stop. She could hear it clearer now. her knees weakened and she fell to the ground, clasping her hands over her ears, trying to block the voice out.

her

Natalie crumbles to the ground, crying her eyes out as she holds her stomach, with tears in eyes, she dips her hand into her inner thighs, feeling the wet moisture between her legs. Natalie screamed, desperately trying to wipe the blood off her thighs. Her baby still had to be inside of her. There is no way she could’ve lost her child, not so soon.

Natalie wrapped her arms around her b*dy, her b*dy wracking with sobs. She tries to connect with her wolf so she could still feel the pup’s energy within her. Perhaps she hasn’t

lost all of it. Perhaps something could still be done and shed save her pup. Her omega might not be much but she was able to feel her pup’s energy. Natalie placed her hand over her stomach, shutting her eyes close. She calls out to her wolf like she’s always done, except this time around, she couldn’t feel her wolf.

Now she sat in the middle of the cell, a tattered cloth draped on her b*dy, her eyes red and swollen, her b*dy frail. She sat in a daze, reflecting the numbers that had settled within her, her eyes filled with nothing.

She shut her eyes, tears seeping out of her eyes.

“You’re awake.” A thick gruffy voice says, unlocking the cell with a jangle of keys.

She was roughly hauled to her feet and dragged out of the cell. Eleanor’s words rang in her head again. ‘Your day of reckoning has come‘

They marched through the cold, dimly lit corridors once again. Natalie’s mind raced with uncertainty. Her arms were tied so tightly she could feel the ropes pulling her skin. Natalie is dragged to the pack hall where a crowd had gathered, dying to see the disposed Luna. She’s dragged to the middle of the room, a few feet away from the council of werewolf. She’s forced to kneel.

The pack members had gathered, their eyes devouring the remnants of her spirit. The three elderly men who were called the werewolf council of their pack sat behind a large table. Their white hairs peeked out from beneath their caps. Luther sat across them in another chair which was meant for him alone. Eleanor stood by his right, her arms wrapped around her chest and to his left stood his beta.

Resignation clung to Natalie like a shroud. The council scrutinized her with stern eyes, the atmosphere was thick with tension. Natalie’s eyes, bloodshot and wearied flickered around the pack members who watched her with disdain and a hint of satisfaction.

“Omega Natalie Sinclair.” Her name is called out fully. Natalie swallows hard, lifting her head to look at them.

“Yes.” She replied.

“You have been accused of giving important information about the pack to the enemy. You’ve been accused of frolicking with the enemy and selling the pack out. What do you have to say to these accusations.”

Natalie looked around, feeling the eyes of hundreds on her, she could feel the anger they felt for her, she could feel the hatred. her eyes land on Luther and she’s not too surprised to see him looking at her with nothing but hatred. Natalie swallows hard, her eyes flickering back to the council who were patiently waiting for her words.

“I’m innocent” The crowd gasps in disbelief again.

“Innocent my feet. Kill that whore!” Someone yells from the crowd just as a stone is thrown, hitting Natalie on the back of her head. Natalie winced, her tied hands restricting her from touching her head.

“You are aware of the many evidences that are pointing at you as the traitor?” She’s asked. Natalie swallowed hard and nodded, tears springing to her eyes.

“Yes. I have been framed. I have done nothing wrong. Whatever evidence that’s been created is false. I’m innocent.” She says again, standing by her words. “We have listened and now we have our verdict.”

“Omega, Natalie Sinclair. You have been found guilty of treason and betraying the pack. You will be whipped seventy times and after which, you will be sold. The pack would rather gain money on you than waste time killing you.”

Natalie’s chest tightened with an ache. They had made up their minds already and this.. this was just formality. A tear rolled down her cheeks, she swallowed hard. She looked at the council defiantly “I would rather be killed than sold. Please do away with my life instead.” She pleaded. At least if she’s dead, she would be able to meet her pup.

“Good thing it’s not up to you. Take her away and tie her up in the town hall where she would be whipped.” The man orders. Natalie is roughly dragged up, two guards holding her arms to take her to the town hall. They don’t make it far, not even out of the pack hall when they see it, shuck clouding their features.

The rhythmic growls of the forest creatures seemed to synchronize with the approach of four imposing cars. Luther stood up along with his beta and the three council of werewolves, they all walked towards the entrance, all tensed. Luther bows his head and the rest of them behind him follow suit and that’s when she sees it. That’s when she sees him.

This man,

feared and held a power that commanded unwavering submission from the entire pack. His aura emanated an icy dominance that sent chills down the spine of those present. The atmosphere quivered with an unspoken command, making the bones of the pack members ache with fear.

The man stood tall and commanding, his shoulders as wide as the river Nile. His sandy

brown hair flowed graciously over his shoulders, his face, high cheekbones, and chiselled jawline that was deliberately carved by the goddess herself. Eyes as dark and piercing as the

soul of a demon.

“Alpha Thorne.” Luther bowed. The strange alpha looks up, his eyes meeting Natalie’s in that very moment for the first time, changing the course of Natalie’s life.
