Chapter 14

Thorne had of course didn’t need to his to even win. He has gotten it in a platter as he always will. The piece has now been presented to him. A large artwork was being carried by a smaller frail looking man behind him. Alpha Luke was kind enough to send him another gift apart from the artwork he got. The proceedings from the auction was to be used in building better and stronger packs.

“Thank you for showing up here, Alpha. We couldn’t have gotten this much crowd without your help.” Luke said, bowing with a wide smile on his face. Thorne nodded, patting the man’s back.

“Of course,

we have things like-” He trails off seeing the Alpha of the Silver rain pack walk towards him, beside him was a woman Thorne hasn’t seen the last time he went to the pack. The two made a lovely pair, he wouldn’t lie.

“Alpha.” Luther voiced out, bowing his head alongside the woman. Thorne hummed in

response.

“It’s

you, Alpha Luther. We all thought you wouldn’t make it after alll..” Luke trailed off nervously, almost vomiting his words in the process.

Natalie swallowed hard, if her scent was loud as it was before, they would all be able to smell how anxious she was. There’s smell the underlying fear, the nervousness but they can’t. Her scent had faded off just like her wolf had.

Luther raised his head, locking eyes with her immediately. Natalie’s breathe sized, her palms immediately becoming clammy with sweat. Luther hadn’t changed much, he looked even better if that was possible. Natalie hated it. She swallowed thickly and looked away, bitterness clawing into her heart.

“Your grace. I’m Eleanor, I’m Luther’s fiancée and Luna to be. It’s an honor to finally meet you.” Eleanor’s sickly sweet voice made its way to Natalie’s ears. She wanted so badly to wrang the voice out of her.

Thorne nods, turning to Alpha Luke. “We will leave now. Thank you for the gift.” He says, gesturing at the slave boy who carried the artwork in his hands.

“Ah–ah, of course your grace.” He stammered as Thorne began to walk out the venues with Frances beside him and Natalie some feet behind him. Natalie could feel Luther’s gaze heavy on her and she hated it. Memories of her being tortured grasped into her head, she could barely take it away.

Natalie stopped, blinking back the tears that threatened to fall down her cheeks, she waits for Thorne to get into the car with Frances. They had bright two cars to the place. A large exquisite one and a smaller one for her.

Natalie bows as the alpha stepped into the car and just as Frances was about to get in too. He stops her.

“Natalie.” He called out her name. Natalie furrows her eyebrows, looking up at the man.

“Get in.” He orders.

Natalie freezes, her eyes widening as his words assimilated into her head. Did he just? “Y- your grace?”

“Thorne?” Frances and her both say at the same time. Natalie gawked at him in shock, unable to leg out another word

“How can she ride in the car with us? She’s supposed to be back there, not..” she trailed off indignantly on seeing the look on Thorne’s face.

“Should I repeat myself a second time or will you?” Natalie jumps into the car before he could complete his words, not wanting to test his patience. Not after everything she’s heard.

Natalie wakes up the next day later than she normally would. She springs up from the bed, panic coursing through her veins at the mere thought of the bell that awaits her. She swallows hard, her palms calmly with sweat as she ran into the bathroom, quickly bathing. She doesn’t spend time as she runs out of the bathroom in less than ten seconds.

Natalie rushes out of the room, quickly tying her hair as she rushes down the stairs, cursing her bad luck and the fact that they spent quite a while on the road last night. She runs to the kitchen, hoping to find something. She gets there, her forehead sweaty, heaving deeply like she’s ran five miles. She comes to a halt at the door, her eyes darting around tirelessly. Her throat ran dry. “What are you doing around just standing there and..” Someone starts to talk. Natalie straightened her back, her chest beating hard at the prospect of being scolded.

The woman’s words slowly dies in her throat when she sees Natalie, her eyes widening when she sees her. She looks at another woman beside her and they both look away. Natalie’s shoulders sag, her eyebrows furrowed on seeing the weird look the two ladies have her.

“Excuse me.” A voice calls from behind her and she moves aside, allowing the person walk into the kitchen. Natalie looks around aimlessly, not knowing what to do. None of the others pay attention to her. She swallows and walks out of there wondering what could’ve happened to make the others look at her weirdly. It isn’t like they were talking exactly but they’ve all been cordial since well, they’re all slaves brought by the Lycan king.

Natalie walks towards the stairs, deep in thought. Maybe she was overthinking the whole situation or maybe it’s in her head. Natalie swallows hard, taking the first step only to stop when she sees someone walking downstairs. Her b*dy goes rigid with fear. She steps back, trying to make herself as invincible as possible. It’s doesn’t work. The woman nears her, her eye full on glaring at her. Natalie shrivels up, feeling the unwanted attention of the woman.

“Natalie, is it?” The woman asks and Natalie jumps in fright. She nods frantically, wanting to be done with the conversation as soon as possible, hating the way her name sounded on the woman’s tongue.
