POV: Rasheed

I’m getting ready in my room when the tantalizing smell of vanilla cupcakes hits me. It is so overpowering; I am unable to move or talk or even think straight. I know my mate is here. I am kind of bummed, to tell you the truth I was hoping it was Gianna that was my mate. I feel such a pull towards her, I just can’t understand why.

I rush out the door to find my mate and I am met with Gianna holding a tray of vanilla cupcakes. She blushes at the sight of me, and it is then that I realize I only have on boxers. She quickly turns around blushing even harder.

“Your majesty, I brought you some more cupcakes, I heard you were running low and decided to make you some more.” she bashfully says.

I grab the cupcakes and tell her thank you. They smell so good, I can’t believe I mistaken them as my mate’s scent, how foolish.

I head back into my room, and it seems as though the cupcake scent is not as strong. My brain is just all muddled.

I put on my black and purple suit, fix my hair, and make sure I have no cologne on for this party. I desperately want to find my mate; I don’t want Octavia as my Luna.

A knock at my door brings me out of my haze and I go to open the door.

“Rasheed, the party is in full swing. Gianna asked me to come and get you, so you can be announced.” Alex says.

“Gianna will be attending? She has not shifted yet.” I question.

“She will be only announcing you and giving a small speech, because she has not yet shifted, she will not be adorning the party colors, but in gold in honor of her packs name instead. Then she will leave. I heard she will be in the bakery after the speech, preparing for her party tomorrow my King.” Alex winks at me.

Does everyone know I have feelings for this girl?

I walk out with Alex, and we head for the ballroom. I must say this Gianna knows how to throw a party. The room has tables covered in black linens with purple runners, adorned with large bouquets of flowers. The low lighting of the purple against the walls made it feel so romantic.

I’ve already seen some wolves who have already found their mates. I’m hoping to find my mate, but all I can smell is Gianna’s vanilla cupcakes. The scent is so strong I’m beginning to think I’m mated to a damn dessert.

Gianna walks to the stage and I get ready for her speech. My mouth hangs open at how beautiful she looks. I can’t take my eyes off her. She is wearing a long sleeve satin ballgown with lace overlay, it has a deep plunge neckline but covers her luscious breast. Her curly hair is cascading down her back and with some of it pinned up she looks like Belle from beauty and the beast. Alex nudges me and I realize Gianna has begun speaking. I am mesmerized by her lips. I am not even fully aware of what she is saying until Alex grabs my arm again and pushes me towards the stage. I almost forgot I had to give a speech tonight.

POV: Gianna

Everything turned out beautifully. I still have so much to do for tomorrow so mom and dad are greeting everyone in the ballroom right now and I will just come in and give my speech.

I have to make desserts for tomorrow and make sure the King has his desserts. That man can eat some desserts I tell you.

I am in Onyx’s room getting ready and I need help from Storm, thank goodness one of my friends has found their mate. I hope Sierra finds hers tonight.

There’s a knock on the door and in walks Storm to help me finish getting ready. She zips me up and helps me put on my shoes. They are to die for gold colored matching my dress, but they have wings coming off the tops almost as if a Fae landing on the top of my shoe. I love them.

I head down the stairs and get ready for my speech and I can’t quite figure out who sprayed air freshener in my hallway. It smells like a winter day when snow has recently fallen. I love that smell, a nice crisp winter air.

I shake it off and get into the ballroom, I am pushed to the stage immediately by my dad. I guess it’s now or never to give my first official speech.

“Thank you all for coming tonight. I am very thrilled to host the Red Moon Party this year. I see many of you have already found your mates. I am very happy for each and every one of you! I won’t keep you long, I know you are excited to get back to your mates and arrange your new living situations. I hope that all the Alpha’s will remain here for just another night.

Tomorrow is my seventeenth birthday, and I will officially become Alpha of the Golden Paw Pack. My father will be handing me the title once I shift tomorrow night. Now, with that being said, I would like it if everyone would give a warm welcome to our King. King Rasheed would you please join me on stage and say a few words?”

I tried so hard to not keep my eyes on just King Rasheed. He is so handsome, his black suit with hints of purple bring out his caramel complexion. He looks so yummy.

I hear my mother clear her throat and I realize I am gawking at the King, who is already standing next to me staring down at me. A beautiful smile gracing his face. I smile widely at him and finally start to move away, but he grabs me by the waist and pulls me to his side. My cheek flush bright red.

“Thank you, Alpha Gianna,” The King winks at me.

“I will also keep it nice and short, so that you can get back to your mates. I was hoping to meet my mate tonight, unfortunately she is not here tonight, but nonetheless I am happy for all of those who have met theirs. I know I am breaking tradition by what I am going to ask, but I am King, and I can change the rules.” He chuckles and looks over my shoulder at my parents.

“I was hoping I could possibly dance with your daughter for one dance she has been a gracious host and it would be such an honor to dance with her. He asks my father.

My dad nods and the King turns back to the crowd.

“Alpha Gianna and I would like to open the dance floor to all the newly mated wolves. Congratulations on finding your mates.” The King says to the crowd.
