At Gabriel’s cabin, Audrey was looking out the window. She could see the three Horsemen of the Apocalypse outside. They had their weapons drawn. She was hoping that this plan would work. She looked at Gabriel. The old man had his staff out and the top of it was glowing a little. “Are you ready?” Audrey asked him. Once they started this, there was no turning back. They would have to carry out this attack until it was completed. Gabriel looked at Audrey and nodded before he looked out the window again.

Audrey turned around to Jasper and Anastasia. “Remember, once Gabriel blinds the Horsemen with the light, run for it. Keep running until you’re able to drive away.” Audrey looked at her mother. It killed her that they had to be separated right after finding each other. Audrey hoped that they would be able to meet again one day. She went up to her mother and hugged her. “Please stay safe Mom.” Audrey told Anastasia.

Anastasia kissed the top of Audrey’s head. “I will be safe and I will come to see you once it’s safe for me to come back.” She told Audrey. Anastasia looked at her daughter. She was very proud of Audrey for doing this. She wasn’t sure if Audrey was the Chosen One or not but Audrey did have a destiny and that was impossible to ignore. Anastasia could have stayed there but one tap on the shoulder from jasper reminded her of the danger that they were in. Anastasia looked at Gabriel. “Keep my daughter alive.” She told him before she went to the back of the house with Jasper.

Audrey looked out the window. It was now or never. “Do it Gabriel.” She said before she closed her eyes tightly. She remembered how bright the light could get and she didn’t want to risk getting blinded right before the fight began. She could still see a bit of the light under her eyelids. She covered her eyes.

Outside, the three horses all neighed at the light as it got brighter and they reared up, throwing their riders off. The Horseman of Death raised his arm to try to block the light from blinding him but it did no good. The light was simply too bright. He screamed in pain as he felt the light searing him. He could smell his body burning. “Famine! Pestilence! Snuff out the light!” He shouted weakly. The Horseman of Death screamed again as he felt his scythe become too hot to handle. He dropped it and crawled behind a tree to try to save himself from the light.

The Horseman of Famine raised her broken scales and the one scale flew towards the cabin, making the chain attached to it longer and longer. “Destroy the light!” The Horseman of Famine shouted. She didn’t feel the pain that the Horseman of Death felt but she knew that none of them would be able to complete their mission until after the light was destroyed.

“Jump back!” Gabriel shouted. Audrey, not sure why Gabriel had shouted that, jumped back. She knew that he had a good reason. Mere seconds after her feet touched the ground, the sound of a window breaking could be heard and the bright light she saw under her eyelids vanished. Audrey opened her eyes and her heart sank. Gabriel’s staff was broken. The one thing that could injure and possibly kill the Horseman of Death was gone.

Audrey looked out the broken window. She only saw two of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Neither of them had the scythe. “We injured the Horseman of Death.” She told Gabriel. She was relieved. It meant they only had two of the four riders left to deal with. She raised her phone and called James. “We’re down to just two of the riders now.” She told him once James picked up. “Do your part.” Audrey hung up. “I really hope this works.” She said. “Or this will be over sooner than we want.”

Gabriel knelt and pulled out a crossbow. “You’ll need this.” He told Audrey, tossing it to her.

Audrey caught it and her eyes widened. “A crossbow?” She asked in disbelief. “These arrows are supposed to hurt the Horsemen of the Apocalypse?” She wasn’t sure if they would or not. Part of her wondered if Gabriel had lost his mind or not. How was he expecting her to hurt the Horsemen with arrows?

Gabriel looked at the arrows. “They’re enchanted to pierce the armor.” He told Audrey. “Just make sure that you don’t kill the Horseman of Pestilence. Savannah is still there under all of that and as our jobs as the witnesses it’s up to us to save her.” He pointed at the two warriors. “Aim for the chinks in their armor.” He told Audrey. “Wound them but don’t kill until we have Savannah in our protection.”

Audrey looked at Gabriel. She wasn’t sure if she would be able to keep that promise but she knew that she had to try. “How will we get Savannah away from her prison?” She asked Gabriel. It would be hard to fight and not kill. She couldn’t help but wish that they had talked about this more but there hadn’t been time.

“I’m not sure how we’ll get Savannah away but I’ll think of something.” Gabriel answered. “I just need you and James to distract the two long enough for me to do it.” Audrey shook her head but didn’t say anything. Instead, she just looked out the window at the two Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Her arrow was pointed at the Horseman of Famine. She was just waiting on James now.

Outside, the Horseman of Famine took a step towards the cabin when chains flew down from the attic window. They wrapped around her wrists and forced her to the ground. The Horseman of Famine hissed angrily and tried to break free of her prison. The chains just wrapped around her tighter. The Horseman of Famine looked at the Horseman of Pestilence. “Kill them all!” She hissed angrily. The Horseman of Pestilence nodded and raised her crossbow. She fired an arrow at the house. A couple of seconds later, an arrow flew at her, hitting her hands and forcing her to drop her crossbow.

The Horseman of Pestilence drew her sword just as another arrow flew towards her. She slashed at it, slicing the arrow in half. She wasn’t able to defend herself though from the next arrow and it pierced her in the arm right between her armor. She cried out in pain and dropped her sword as she grabbed her wounded arm. Another arrow flew out of the cabin and hit her in the knee, dropping the Horseman of Pestilence to her good knee. She pulled the arrow out of her arm before pull the one in her knee out. Whoever had shot those arrows would pay for this.

The Horseman of Pestilence got back up and began limping towards the house. That was when a young woman stepped in front of her and pointed a colt at her. “Drop the sword Savannah.” The young woman told the Horseman of Pestilence.

“Who is that?” Audrey asked, looking at the young woman. “Is she an ally?” Audrey looked at Gabriel. To her surprise, Gabriel looked surprised. “You don’t know her?” Audrey asked.

Gabriel shook his head. “I’ve never seen her before but she looks familiar to me.” He said. He wasn’t sure why though the woman looked familiar. He was certain that he would remember her but she looked very familiar. “Get James down here.” Gabriel told Audrey. “I think we’ve won this round for now.” Gabriel then went outside. “Who are you?” Gabriel asked the woman. The woman turned around to face him. Gabriel’s eyes widened and he took a step back. He recognized her.

The woman smiled. “It’s been a long time Gabriel.” She told Gabriel. The woman’s eyes went past Gabriel and rested on James and Audrey. James’s face turned pale when he saw the young woman. “Hello James.” The woman said. She looked at Audrey. “Audrey.” She then said. “It’s been quite a while since I last saw any of you.” She wasn’t surprised that none of them recognized her. She recognized them all and it pained her a little that they didn’t remember her. “Now if you excuse me, I have a mission I have to complete.”

Audrey looked at James and Gabriel. “Who is she?” She asked. “I don’t recognize her.” The way that they were looking at the young woman told Audrey that the two of them knew who she was. Audrey looked at the young woman. “Who are you?” She asked. There was something about the young woman now that Audrey paid a bit more attention to her. It was almost like she should know who the young woman was.

The young woman looked at Audrey and sighed. “You don’t know who I am, not anymore anyways.” She told Audrey.

Audrey frowned. That didn’t make any sense at all. “What do you mean by that?” She asked. Was this woman claiming to be someone from Audrey’s past?

“The young woman didn’t answer Audrey. Instead, she turned around and knocked the Horseman of Pestilence out before looking at the Horseman of Famine. “She can’t escape those chains, right?” She asked.

“Right.” James said. He seemed distracted by the woman though.

The woman turned to Gabriel. “If you’re going to get Savannah out of the Horseman of Pestilence, do it now.” She told Gabriel. “I’m not sure how long she’ll be out of it.” The young woman went up to Audrey. “As for you, you know who I am.” She told Audrey. “Even if we only met for a very short amount of time in another time.”

Audrey looked at the young woman before she gasped. “Aunica?” She asked. Could it really be Aunica, the girl she had lost in the time stream? She didn’t think that Aunica would still be alive after all of this time. Audrey realized that Emily and she weren’t the only possible Chosen Ones anymore. It could very well be her mother or Aunica. Audrey looked closer at Aunica. She could very well be in her twenties. Nothing like the little girl she had met back during the Witch Trials.

The young woman smiled. “That’s right Witness.” She told Audrey. “But there’s more to this then you realize.” The young woman looked at Gabriel. “Hurry up and get Savannah out of the Horseman of Pestilence.” She ordered. “We don’t have much time left.” Aunica looked at her watch before she looked at James. “Where’s the Horseman of Death?” She asked.

Before James could answer, there was a gunshot. James stiffened and Audrey screamed. James looked down. Where his heart was, there was a hole in his shirt and blood dripping down from it. James looked up at Aunica before he fell to the ground. Both Aunica and Audrey rushed to his side.

Gabriel looked up from the Horseman of Pestilence. “What was that?” He demanded

Aunica shook her head. “We can’t stay here.” She said. “I’m too late.”

Audrey looked at Aunica. “What do you mean? Did you know that this was going to happen?” She asked. How could Aunica know about all of this before it happened? That was when Audrey saw Aunica’s watch. It didn’t look like any watch she had seen before. She looked back at Aunica. “What do you mean you’re too late? We can save James, can’t we?” Audrey couldn’t lose James. He was the closest thing she had to a brother. The two of them were practically family because of Gabriel. “Aunica, what aren’t you telling us?” She asked.

A man’s laughter could be heard. They all looked to see the Horseman of Death standing there. He had a gun in his hand. The end of it was smoking. “She means that she wasn’t able to stop me from turning James into the new Horseman of War.” As the Horseman of Death was saying that, smoke began to appear around James. “Your Third Tribulation is now beginning Chosen One.” The Horseman of Death continued. “But can you defeat him?”

Aunica looked at Audrey. “He’s wrong.” She told Audrey. “Your Third Tribulation isn’t defeating James.” She looked at her watch. She didn’t have much time left. She had already changed the future so she would soon be vanishing. “You need to find the child me in this time before tomorrow at sunset.”

Audrey’s eyes widened as she saw Aunica begin to vanish. “What’s happening to you?” She asked. “How could there be a child version of you here if you’re an adult?” None of this made sense.

Aunica shook her head. “I’m from the future.” She told Audrey. “But by doing this, I’ve changed the future so I’m going to disappear now because of the change in the time line.” Aunica told Audrey’s hands in hers. “Find my younger self here in this time and complete your Third Tribulation.” With those words, Aunica vanished.
