Thirty eight.

" Enough!" Iris voice rang out in the arena.

We stopped fighting grateful for the interruption as sweat dripped from our bodies.

" What was that?, You call that fighting? You would have been torn apart by the Coratians."

" Iris cut them some slack, they're tired. They've been training since the crack of dawn." Seb said sympathizing with us.

" So have I."

" You can't seriously be comparing them to yourself!, Iris they need a break." He stated. Iris threw him a murderous glare but he stood his ground.

" They want a break?, Then fine! You can have your break!" She exclaimed angrily but no one moved. Nobody dared too.

We watched in silence as she paced round the arena. Her body suddenly burst up in purple flames but she didn't even flinch.

She was livid. She was stressed. She was tired. She was afraid.

" Iris." Malika called from where she sat observing our training and Iris looked at her with her eyes glowing dangerously.

" Yes?" She asked. Her voice had a slight echo to it.

" You can take the rest of the day off." Malika said to us and Iris narrowed her eyes.

" Ignore her. Go."

We left our positions and sighed in relief as we stretched. Our bodies ached but we were getting used to it already.

" Come." Malika said to Iris. She had joined the very short list of people Iris could not disobey.

I tuned my ears to hear what she was saying to Iris.

" They don't need a break, they are fighters they need to train." Iris gritted out.

" And they also need rest. If you keep pushing them they will break."

" I know you're worried. We all are. But you have to take a break. We need you at your full capacity during the war. If you keep pushing yourself you won't be."

I heard a faint sigh from Iris and the purple flames that danced around on her skin seemed to die down.

" Cole." Malika called and I jogged over to them.

" Make sure she's off training for the rest of the day." She instructed and I nodded. She cast a spell on Iris and smiled.

" What did you do?" Iris asked wearily

" I stopped you from being able to use your powers."

" You can do that?" I asked.

" Yes, not many people know of it. It's an ancient spell. But it's only temporary."

" I have got to learn how to do that." Iris muttered under her breath.

" Cole, your job is to ensure she has fun like a normal teenager. The spell will wear off in about an hour and a half."

" Yes ma'am."

" Go."

I held Iris's hand and pulled her closer. She had a cute pout on her face and I smiled. I kissed her forehead and she pouted even further.

" Cheer up, you get to spend the day with your awesome boyfriend and the future alpha of the Imperidium pack."

She rolled her eyes but she couldn't hold back the smile that was playing on her lips.

" Rose!, Bryan wait up!"

We caught up with them and Rose asked,

" What's up?"

" How do you feel 'bout a double date?" I asked grinning.

" A double date?, Has the mighty Elysian finally decided to have fun like the rest of us mere supernaturals?" Rose said in mock awe.

Iris narrowed her eyes at her and clenched her fists. She obviously wanted to use her powers on her.

" She's being forced too. Malika even took away her powers temporarily."

" Wait!" Bryan exclaimed.

" If she doesn't have her powers, then that means I can-"

He didn't finish his statement before he threw a punch at her. She blocked it with the back of her right hand and gave him an unimpressed look.

" Haven't I taught you anything?"

Using that same arm, she twisted his arm and then kicked his knees so he fell face flat on the floor. She crouched next to his body and tutted.

" I never needed my powers for that."

Rose helped Bryan up and luckily he didn't sustain any injuries, apart from his bruised ego.

" So you up for it?"

" Sure. Maybe we can get Chris and Savannah to come with. Then it will be a triple date."

" Great. But first we have to get out of this sweat covered clothes."

Iris smirked then she snapped her fingers. But nothing happened. She then remembered she didn't have her powers and groaned.

" You have to live like the rest of us. For now at least." Rose said smirking.

" Cards please." The attendant at the arcade asked and we gave our student to her.

" You should let me pay for you." I said to Iris but she smiled.

" Maybe next time. Today, I'm not paying." She said.

The attendant gave her a complimentary gift bag that was given to every new customer. Bryan gasped.

" Don't tell me this is your first time here!"

" Okay. It's not my first time here."

He held her hand and gave her a look of remorse.

" You poor thing."

" What should we play?" I asked.

" Let's play Supernatural takedown." Savannah said.

" You only want to play that because you are freakishly good at it." Rose said and Sav smiled.

" What's Supernatural takedown?" Iris asked.

" It's a game where you get yo fight as a different supernatural." I said as we walked to the game machine.

" You start off with no powers, just weapons then you advance." Chris explained.

" I call dibs on elementist." Sav piped up.

" Shifter." I said.

" Vampire." Bryan said.

" Fairy." Rose said.

" Why do I always get stuck with Cyclops?" Chris whined.

" I guess I'll choose demigod." Iris mused.

" I call dibs on the sword." I said.

" Bow and arrows." Iris said.

" Whip." Rose piped up.

" Katana blades." Bryan said.

" Cross bow." Savannah said.

" Oh come on!, Spear?, Really guys?" Chris whined.

I helped Iris strap on her gear before doing mine.

" Ready?" The game attendant asked and we nodded.

" Game on."

" I can not believe she beat me!" Sav cried.

" It's not my fault I'm a natural killing machine." Iris reasoned. She had not only beaten Sav, but she also broke her high score.

" Let's play danceathon next." I suggested.

We spent the rest of the day in the arcade playing games and having fun like regular teenagers that didn't have to worry about fighting a war.

" What do you mean they're gone?"

" W-w-we got their location b-b-b-ut they we-we-weren't there."

I unsheeted my sword and plunged it into his chest. I watched as life seeped out of his eyes and pulled the sword out.

" I hate it when my prey gets away."

" You!"

" Y-y-yes s-s-sir?"

" You're the new general."

Iris disappeared the last week in December and she was gone for 4 months.

So, she came back the last week of April.

She's been back for almost a month now so the Magician attack is set to take place on the third Saturday in May.
