Chapter 17

Becky’s words stunned Sigmund slightly.

He didn’t say anything for a while.

If it was before, Becky would have been secretly happy, thinking that Sigmund had her in his heart

at least.

But now, she no longer had any expectations of him.

Sigmind’s silence only maintained for a short time, and when Becky looked up again, all she could see was the same cold look.

Soon, his sarcastic voice reached Becky’s ears.

“Are you dreaming? Divorcing you is something I’ve been dreaming of. I just hope you don’t bring shame to me.”

A mocking smile showed on the man’s thin lips. “You are the one who wants to maintain this meaningless marriage. Not me.”

The word “meaningless” made Becky’s breath pause for a moment:

The past two years of marriage were meaningless in his eyes.

A faint smile appeared on Becky’s face. That’s true, but that was before. Since Mr. Moolery has made it so clear, I’m relieved now. As soon as the cooling–off period is over, let’s get a divorce. You are not the only one who is anxious. I am also anxious to divorce you.”

The calm look inside Sigmund’s eyes just now became somewhat grumpy.

The divorce made her anxious

Initially, to solve the crisis for the Wood family, she could not wait to get married to him.

Now that she did not need him anymore and her beloved was back, she was anxious to divorce him, wasn’t she?

Sigmund’s tone became colder and colder. “Why didn’t I see it before? You’re in such a hurry to divorce me because you want to be with Daley, right? Everyone thinks you love me so much, but did he think so? Is he still waiting for you?”

Becky frowned slightly. What did it have to do with Daley?

She snorted, “Mr. Moolery, you really think too highly of me. I just don’t deserve someone like you. It has nothing to do with anyone else. Well, since there’s nothing else to talk about, I’ll leave now. I’m busy.”

Becky put away the smile on her face and looked at #igmund with a cold and indifferent gaze.

Her appearance made her look arrogant, and when she smiled, she was cute and sweet, but now when her face was cold, she looked aloof, making people feel she was not easy–going.

The expression on her face seemed to signify Sigmund not to bother her again if he had nothing important to say.

Becky took a step and turned toward the office door, not giving Sigmund any other look.

Sigmund pressed his lips together tightly. He didn’t look at Becky and let her slip away

But as the door was closing, Becky’s movements suddenly stopped.

Sigmund’s face eased a little, thinking that she was about to apologize for what she had done.

Unexpectedly, her tone was still indifferent. “Do you remember what you said in the restroom last time? In the company, we’re just in a normal relationship between superiors and subordinates. So please, let’s pretend not to know each other.”

The words were spoken in a disciplined manner, but the tone of the words was indifferent.

Sigmund looked at her back as she slowly left, feeling a surge of anger risen in his heart.

Becky left the top floor in a good mood. She was not the one who just suffered a defeat.

Why did not she realize before that making Sigmund unhappy was so satisfying?

Becky’s face was always with a faint smile when she was on the way back to the design department, not with the broken look everyone thought she would have after being scolded by Mr. Moolery.

Lindsay quite cared about Becky. When she saw Becky coming back, she immediately put down the work she was doing and came over with a worried face.

“How are you, Becky? I heard Gerard say you were just called away by Mr. Moolery. He didn’t give

you a hard time, did he?”

In Lindsay’s impression, Sigmund oscillated between a hot and cold state. Many people were fired and scolded by him every year.

A newcomer like Becky, even if she was connected with Rocky as everyone said, Sigmund might not be soft–hearted to her.

Looking at the genuine concern in Lindsay’s eyes, Becky smiled at her.

“I’m fine. He only talked about something unimportant to me. Like… he encouraged me to work

hard.”

Becky made a few casual remarks and Lindsay believed her.

Ned also heard Becky and Lindsay’s conversation, and he even concluded in his heart that Becky was actually having an affair with Rocky.

Chapter 17

Becky was fine even though she was called away by Mr. Moolery, which made him suspect even more. Would Mr. Moolery encourage her, a nobody intern, for no reason? Maybe Mr. Moolery was warning her not to think of relying on connections to scale up,

Because of this, Ned’s disdain and contempt for Becky were becoming more and more obvious.

Becky had been revising her draft at her work table until Gerard walked in with documents.

“Some designers from the Starry Group have already sent their initial drafts. I’ll email them to you later. Please check and try to fit their drafts as much as possible.

“And also, the Starry Group has said they want to have a dinner party with us tonight so we can get to know each other and have a start–up dinner for our cooperation.”

Becky frowned. She never liked these flattering parties. Not to mention the other party was the Starry Group, which made her even less interested.

She was thinking about how to avoid it, but Gerard’s words continued to come through the next second.

“Everyone, stay after work tonight. We’ll all attend the dinner party tonight.”

Becky was just an intern, and everyone there had a slightly higher level in the company than her. Everyone would go to the party, and it was obviously impossible for her to say no. Otherwise, she would appear out of place.

Becky did not think twice about it.

She would just take it as a mere formality. Even if she was recognized, it did not matter. The moment she knew she was going to work with Starry Group, she knew her identity was destined to be found out.

After working so seriously throughout the day, everyone began to pack their things near the end of the shift.

Seeing Becky was focusing, Lindsay came over to remind her that they were off work.

As a result, all she saw was a messy manuscript. This was the most chaotic manuscript she had ever seen in her life.

Lindsay felt she had been stunned speechless just by looking at the “work“.

After a long time, she could only get out a sentence. “Oh my God, this is…”

Becky was distracted by her voice and looked at her in daze. “What’s wrong?”
