Chapter 42 

Not only was there a palm print on Tina’s face but there was also a bruise at the corner of her mouth.

When Pearl pinched Tina’s wound, it hurt so much that Tina frowned. Tina pushed Pearl’s hand away and spat out the turbid smell of alcohol. “It’s none of your business!”

Of course, Pearl could not be bothered to care about Tina. She leaned against the door leisurely and watched Tina vent her anger.

Tina glared at Pearl with red eyes.

“It’s all your fault. If you hadn’t humiliated Manfred in front of so many people tonight, he wouldn’t be in a bad mood. If he wasn’t in a bad mood, he wouldn’t have hit me.”

Tina touched the left side of her face. The pain and numbness had not completely passed.

Tonight, Manfred had almost spent a lot of money on Pearl. Tina was extremely jealous. When the auction ended, Tina had made a few jealous remarks. However, in the end, Manfred did not coax Tina like usual and slapped her.

Tina pointed at Pearl and complained. Tina’s eyes were filled with jealousy and hatred. “You’re very smug, aren’t you? So many men are fighting over you. You must be very smug, right? Mr. Males from Machodean and Mr. Lucas from Beaudale are both scions of wealthy and influential families, well–known figures. No wonder you don’t have any interest in Manfred. It seems like you’ve encountered other men outside. Did you spend these three years away just having fun with them?”

Pearl quietly looked at the enraged Tina. She could not help but recall hearing those gossipy women badmouthing her in the banquet hall. One of them mentioned Tina.

There might be a reason for the rumors. As expected, the rumors about Pearl were spread by Tina.

“It seems that you didn’t listen to a single word of my warning today.”

Pearl rubbed the space between her eyebrows. She didn’t bother to argue with Tina. Pearl called Emily over. “I’m tired today. I don’t have time to deal with you. You should calm down and sober up first.”

Pearl turned around and said to Emily, “Get her to kneel by the toilet bowl and send two people to watch her. She can throw up and rinse her mouth if needed, but she’s not

allowed to get up.”

Emily received the order and called two bodyguards to come up. They then brought Tina to kneel by the toilet bowl.

“Let go of me!”

Tina struggled with all her might, but she could not break free from the two burly men no matter how hard she tried. She knelt by the toilet bowl and only shouted a few words before her stomach churned and she vomited.

Pearl did not care about Tina anymore. She put on the noise–canceling earplugs and went

to sleep.

Tina vomited and then had another bout of agitation.

The two bodyguards dutifully served Tina for the entire night. They patted her back and poured water for her, but they strictly followed Pearl’s instructions and did not allow Tina

to get up.

Tina knelt by the toilet bowl for the entire night. As she knelt, she miraculously fell asleep.

In Suite 66 at the Beverland Hotel.

When Marc walked out of the bathroom while drying his hair, Lucas entered without invitation. Marc was sitting on a bar stool and carefully examining the four bowls on the

bar counter.

“Are these really enameled bowls from 1700s?” 

Marc grunted and went into the kitchen to pour two glasses of water.

Lucas couldn’t see the charm in these bowls and shook his head, saying, “Just for these

four bowls, you managed to upset Pearl so much. I’m really worried for you.”

Marc drank half a glass of water and did not think much of it.

“What’s there to worry about?”

When Lucas saw how calm and composed Marc was, he cursed in his heart, “How annoying!”

Lucas suppressed the anger in his heart and asked patiently, “Let me ask you. Why did you. come all the way from Machodean to Nanston?”

“For business,” Marc replied in a matter–of–fact tone. “Aren’t we planning to collaborate on opening a horse ranch together?” 

Lucas nodded. “That’s right. Do you know who we’re working with?”

Marc was still indifferent. “It doesn’t matter.”

Marc came to Nanston because he had an ulterior motive. Opening a horse ranch

business was just a side event for him. It was the same no matter who he worked with.

Looking at Marc’s nonchalant attitude, Lucas could not bear to tell him the truth, and he raised his eyebrows mischievously.

“Looks like you didn’t investigate it at all before you came. The land in the northern suburbs of Nanston belongs to Woolery Estates. Last year, it was bought by Ralph and Errol for a huge sum of money. They wanted to build a golf course…” 

Before Lucas could finish his sentence, Marc frowned. “Woolery Estates?” 

Wasn’t that a real estate company under Woolery Group?

“Yeah.”

Lucas thought that Marc finally understood. “It’s normal that you don’t know. In the second half of last year, you were busy developing the market in Azurehaven and didn’t participate in the bidding. Our family was busy with internal strife and didn’t care.”

The land in the northern suburbs could be taken over by Ralph and Errol because they

were lucky.

Tina lay on the edge of the toilet bowl and slept soundly. She was even drooling.

Seeing this, Pearl could not help but shake her head.

Tina ended up falling asleep by the toilet, which was quite unusual and baffling.

For some reason, Pearl felt there was an inexplicable harmony between Tina and the toilet, e perhaps a case of birds of a feather in an unusual context.

“Miss Pearl, good morning,” The bodyguards bowed and greeted Pearl.

Pearl nodded slightly. “You’ve been tired all night. Go back and rest. I’ll give you guys a day off today. Last night counts as overtime for you both, so go to Emily and get the overtime pay.”

The bodyguards were overjoyed. “Thank you, Miss Pearl!”

Their joyful voices successfully woke Tina up.

As soon as Tina opened her eyes, she cried out in pain. She felt her face hurt, her head

hurt, her neck hurt, and her knees hurt… From top to bottom, from head to toe, there was no place that did not hurt.

What had Tina experienced?

Tina rubbed her neck and looked at her surroundings. Tina had not completely understood he situation. “Why am I here?”
