Chapter 7: you're very persistent

Sierra's POV

Callum drops me off at work 25 minutes later, he even walks me in. I giggle as he holds the door open for me to pass through. He makes a sweeping motion, bowing down low, " mi lady " he says in a fake British accent making me giggle again.

I walk up to Loretta, my boss, she has been so good to me, my mum and my little brother, sending me home with containers full of food and sweets.

She looks up from her paperwork, smiling when she sees me, her smile even wider when she sees I'm with a boy. "Well, hello you two, Sierra who's this handsome man?".

My face heats up instantly, " oh, yes sorry, this is Umm my um this is Callum, we go to school together, I missed the bus, he was kind enough to give me a lift ".

Oh, fucking hell I'm rambling, I look to see Loretta smiling brightly. Callum holds his hand out," nice to meet you ??", Shit I forgot to tell him her name, stupid, stupid.

Loretta takes his hand, giving it a shake " I'm Loretta it's nice to meet you too Callum" she looks at me, a sly smile on her face. "You weren't lying when you said he was good looking Sierra"".

Oh my god someone please kill me now, I look at Callum, he's grinning like an idiot.

I mumble as I walk away, saying I need to get started, making Callum erupt into laughter.

The diner is extremely busy that night, I'm run off my feet, I'm shocked to see Callum still there drinking coffee and eating plates of pie.

When my break comes, I walk over to where he's sitting, looking down at his phone he doesn't notice me until I'm seated.

He gives me a huge warm smile, " I thought you would have left by now ", I say to him he just smiles, " well I'm just waiting for my friend to finish work ", my face drops a little a little part of me hoping he was waiting for me, god I'm so stupid.

" Oh, um okay then well I'll leave you to it ", I go to stand, a booming laugh making me look at the source. "Oh God you're too easy" he laughs," I meant you Tesoro (treasure)", now sit down and talk to me.

I sit back down with a thump; he's watching me as I sip my drink. He chuckles, " what?" I ask, he laughs again " um you have a little something ", he reaches over, his finger swipes a bit of froth off my lip .

I watch like a stunned idiot as he puts his finger in his mouth , licking it.

" Mnmmmn , tasty," he moans, oh my fucking hell I'm about to combust.

He chuckles and we talk about school, our future plans. I'm having a good time getting to know him, only ever really seeing him from afar.

My break is over too soon, I get up to go back to work, Callum grabs my hand I look at him, my brows raised," I'll be here until you finish Tesoro", there's that name again, I need to Google it when I get home.

Two hours later I'm finally done, I can see Callum's on the phone, so I go in the back to get my stuff.

When I come out, I say goodbye to Loretta who responds with a wave and a point to where I can see four containers full of food, I give her a thumbs up, grab the food and head over to where Callum is.

I catch the end of his conversation ", okay Angie, I'll think about it, yes I promise". My heart drops. I thought they had split up, maybe they were getting back together, I was surprised at the feeling of disappointment, yeah like he'd ever be interested in me.

He looks up as I approach his booth " ready to go?" He asks, I nod eager to get home so I can wallow in my self pity.

We head to the car in silence, once we get in, he speeds off, I'm looking out the window deep in thought, his voice makes me jump " is everything okay Sierra? You've gone really quiet ".

I think of his conversation with Angela, " yeah just really tired ", I respond, I'm not lying completely. We pull up at a red light, he looks at me, his expression looks almost .... Disappointed?

We move again, he's holding the steering wheel with a death grip. " Oh, I was going to see if you were interested in seeing a movie with me tonight". He says, I'm shocked, is Callum Inconeti asking me, quiet, bookish, plain Sierra out on a date?

I don't know what to say, he asks me directions to my house, I tell him the way, still reeling from him asking me out.

"What about Angela though?" I blurt out, he looks at me before focusing on the road," what about her?", He asks. I don't know how to answer, he'll know I heard him on the phone.

"Um, um ..." Omg I'm so weird. He chuckles, "were you listening to my conversation little mouse?", I'm sure I go completely red "oh I didn't mean to, it was an accident ". He sighs " there's a party tonight, Angie was pestering me to go, she wouldn't take no for an answer, so I said I'd think about it to shut her up ". Oh, now I'm embarrassed.

We pull up to my house, he gets out to open my door we stand there in awkward silence, "well I guess I'll go then " he says turning to leave, what the fuck am I doing? This gorgeous, kind man had asked me out and I'm overthinking it .

I watch him walk to his car," Callum " I call out, he turns " pick me up in an hour ". He stands still not moving for a minute , then with a nod he climbs in his car and drives off.

I watch him leave I walk into the house, my mum is at work until late, she's a nurse at the local hospital. I call out I'm home, toby and his sitter are in the kitchen, they both smile at me when I walk in. I put the food on the table, toby digging in, I ask Tamara if she can hang around for a few more hours and more money thank God she says yes. I head off to my bedroom to get ready for my date, oh my fucking god I'm going on a date with Callum Inconeti , I squeal running off to pick out an outfit.
