“Her name is Vette Towell, and she is Joshua’s wife, Lauren warmly introduced as she held Yvette’s arm affectionately.

Just as she was about to lean down to scrutinize the man on the bed discreetly, the bedroom door opened.

Lauren had asked someone to bring her supper and hot milk, and she held a basin of warm water in her hands.

Seeing that Yvette was about to take the basin from Lauren when the latter tilted her body to dodge her hand. “It’s better that I do it myself. You’ll probably be embarrassed since you’ve just been married to him.”

“She’s going to.. wipe Joshua’s body!”

Yvette froze at that thought and instantly blushied as she turned around. Although she had long prepared herself for that, it was still too sudden for her.

“Despite him being good-looking, I still can’t bear to take a man’s clothes off, she commented inwardly.

Lauren was not at all surprised by her reaction. As she flipped the blanket aside and unbuttoned Joshua’s shirt, she said mildly. “In the future, ignore anyone from Yosef’s family if you ever bump into them. You’re new here and will find it difficult to deal with them”

Yvette knew the meaning behind those words. Lauren was telling her to stay away from Hendrick so that she would not cuc kold her soll.

“Understood, Mrs. Luxford”

“You should change the way you address me, Lauren reminded.

Yvette pursed her lips and only managed to squeak out after a long while, “Mom!”

Upon hearing that, Lauren smiled. She finished her task before looking at her daughter-in-law. “You can learn things that you don’t know how to do later. Yvette’s face flushed red. Although Lauren’s tone was mild, her words still sounded somewhat frightening.

Staring at the towel in her mother-in-law’s hand before shifting her gaze to the neatly dressed Joshua on the bed, Yvette felt that marrying into the Luxford family might not be as good as she thought.
