Ever since Joshua got into a coma, William had been managing all the Luxford family’s affairs.

Cowering and trembling. Hendrick dared not look at William. “N-No, I didn’t. This woman is lying,” he hurriedly retorted.

“Dad. Hendrick won’t do this. He always obeys your words.”

Though William had not spoken a word, Hendrick and his mother already broke out in a cold sweat..

Yvette and Lauren ignored them while William sneered. “I bet you are wishing that I will die sooner so that you can control the Luxford family,”

“No, Grandpa! That woman hit me, and now, she’s purposely trying to push the blame onto me.”

“But Yvette is your cousin-in-law. She’s no outsider, Lauren interrupted coldly.

Yvette had only married into the family recently, but she felt touched to hear Lauren’s words.

“Get out! Without my permission, no one in your family is allowed to step into the Luxford residence,” ordered William in an angry yet controlled tone.

It was as if he had expected all these to happen, so although he was angry, he was not enraged.

“Grandpa, I’ll leave now.”

Upon hearing they could leave. Hendrick and Ruby immediately left as fast as possible.

They could not be bothered to pursue the matter further or send Yvette to the police station, as they were thankful to leave the Luxford residence alive.

After all, William had used to be a soldier in his younger days and had killed people before. Even though he was old now, he still had complete control over the Luxford family, other than Joshua.

“Are you okay?” Lauren asked worriedly.

Seeing that Hendrick and Ruby had finally left, Lauren heaved a sigh of relief. “If you face trouble in the future, come and find me. I’ll help you. You don’t need to dirty your hands with things like hitting people

“Does this mean she will find other people to do it in my stead? She looks like a typical rich lady, though. She doesn’t seem like the type to hit others,” Yvette mused, looking at Lauren in confusion.

After this incident, Hendrick indeed never came again, and life returned to normal for Yvette. Furthermore, under Lauren’s guidance, Yvette had improved her skills in caring for people.

Every day, she would wipe Joshua’s body day and night. Feeling Lauren’s presence behind her, she wiped even more carefully.

“I’ll get someone to prepare some supper for you.”

Yvette finally relaxed after Lauren left. She flipped Joshua back and casually wiped his body.

“You should be grateful that I am good-tempered and can tolerate you for so long. If my family did not go bankrupt, there’s no way I’ll be serving you. I wonder why you’re so lucky, she muttered while wiping.

Suddenly, she sensed that there was something wrong with Joshua.

Staring at the lump under the covers, she froze in her actions.

“Did I do something wrong?” she wondered.

“I asked the ser vants to prepare a cup of warm milk for you. Is there anything you want to eat now?”

Just then, Lauren walked in with Π cup of milk.

Yvette immediately grabbed the blankets and covered Joshua’s naked upper body upon hearing her voice. There was no telling that she was doing it out of guilt or embarrassment.

She turned behind to look at Lauren with a red face and shook her head.

Tm not hungry! I don’t want to eat anything!” Yvette screamed internally.
