Soul Searcher Book 1
CHAPTER SEVEN

What in the hell is wrong with me? Slamming the front door shut, the realization of what I had done crashing down on me. I pace in the entryway running my hands through my already tousled white-blond hair as I walk back and forth. I have never been so bold as to go kissing a random stranger! And a human, of all the creatures that grace this earth, a filthy, stinking human. Though Cassie definitely didn’t smell bad. In fact, she smelled like a field of wildflowers and the ocean breeze. A scent I don’t think I could ever grow tired of. And she certainly wasn’t filthy. No, her slightly tanned skin glowed as though the moon had wrapped around her. Her eyes sparkled like two sapphires shimmering in the sun. When she smiled, I could feel my heart pound in my chest like it wanted to escape me. She could light up the darkest of nights with that smile, I would bet money on it.

Oh. My. Freaking. Stars! Samael is right. I think I like her. Dare I say that I think I might be in love with her? What is that saying my father used to spout, ‘there is such a thing as love at first sight.’ Laughing obnoxiously to myself I shake my head for such a ridiculous thought. For one thing, I don’t believe in love. It’s just a stupid word humans came up with. Secondly, A HUMAN! Seriously no! I will be with a demon before I will ever be caught with a human. Stopping in my tracks, I realize who I should have a chat with. Making a mental note to speak with my father the next morning, I make my way to my bed, practically crashing down on top of it and find myself asleep within minutes.

Just as Cassie drops her satchel onto her kitchen island, her phone begins to ring. Quickly maneuvering it from her back pocket, she glances at the screen to see that it is 12:35 on the dot and Ginny is calling her. “Hey, you, I was just thinking about calling you...” Cassie said instead of saying hello, but before she could continue speaking, Ginny interrupts her.

“Oh. My. Gosh, Cassie! How are you? ...anyway, I’ve been having a blast and the singer, and I have been ‘seeing’ each other. I think I’m in love!” Ginny squeals as she states this. “And before you go trying to bring me down, yes, I know he’s in a band. I know how band guys can be, but we really seem to have a connection. So, I’m going for it and whatever happens, happens. But enough about me. What have you been up to in the last roughly twenty-four hours that I’ve been gone?”

“Funny you ask that,” Cassie begins. “The strangest thing happened to me less than an hour ago...”

“Dang,” Ginny said loudly; “I’ve got to go Cass, but I’ll call you some time tomorrow and you can tell me everything then, okay.” Before Cassie could even utter the ‘O’ in okay, Ginny ends the call leaving Cassie staring at the darkening screen, watching as it turns solid black.

Muttering a ‘whatever’, Cassie tosses her phone onto her bed right next to her pillow. Undressing, she throws an over-sized tee-shirt on and then walks into the bathroom for her nightly ritual of brushing teeth and removing makeup. Once done with her routine, she heads back to her bed and crawls in. Who knew being confused could be so draining... she thought as she pulled her extremely fluffy silver-grey comforter up to her chin, snuggling into her bed and the blanket.

Almost instantly Cassie finds herself in a dream state. How odd. I never go into dream mode this quickly, she thinks as she takes in her surroundings, trying to figure out what kind of building she is in. In the time it takes to blink her eyes, Cassie begins to shiver, this time, violently so. Her suspicion turns into fact when she turns a corner and spots the crazy ass dude that kissed her sitting on some steps that lead up to a small stage within the vast emptiness of the building they now occupied.

Sitting in the same spot as from the previous dream, she allows her gaze to travel the length of him and his almost model pose. His white-blonde hair was in complete disarray. He was again wearing a black hoodie zipped up to his neck and a white tee-shirt peeking out from under the bottom edge of it. She noticed his slashed-up jeans and how they slouched into his combat boots. One leg perched upon the ledge which he was leaning his chest against while his other leg dangled freely as though not a care in the world.

For some reason, this seemed to trigger her emotions and without a moment’s thought or hesitation, Cassie storms up to the strange guy and slaps him across the face. “Ouch! What the hell was that for?” He stares at Cassie, stunned by what she had just done. Crossing her arms over her chest, Cassie glares back at him for a second before she answers him. “That! That was for kissing me. I’m not one of those types of people to just kiss random dudes and then dash off. And, you don’t even know me. Why in the world would you go up to a stranger and kiss them?”

**

I am utterly astounded that she walked right up to me and slapped her hand across my face! No one has ever in my life done that to me before. I want to growl out this thought but end up laughing instead. FYI, not a wise thing to do in front of a human who is angry with you. However, I can’t seem to stop myself and laugh even harder when I see her ball her hands into fists as though she is about to punch me. She’s absolutely adorable when she is mad. Her beautiful blue eyes turn an almost charcoal-grey. And then, she stomps her foot. I roll over sideways in a fit of giggles.

“What in the hell are you laughing about?” I watch Cassie as she crosses her arms over her chest once again and grin at the scowl on her face, it is so cute. I am using all the control I have within me to not jump from my seated position and kiss her once more. All I can picture is my lips upon her soft plump, luscious ones, the silky feel of her tongue as I brush mine against hers... and then BAM! She slugs me in the arm.

“Damn girl! Will you please stop beating on me? I haven’t done anything wrong to you, and you’ve hit me twice in less than 5 minutes. Chill.” I rub my upper arm as I look up at her pleadingly.

“Haven’t done anything wrong!” She shouts out. “You’ve kissed me and now have laughed at me. How is that not having done anything wrong?” Cassie’s eyes seem to grow darker as she stares at me, and it causes a shiver to run up and down my spine. My eyes grow wide as I return her gaze, I am shocked to have experienced such a human feeling.

“What are you? You don’t emanate supernatural vibes, but some have been known to hide their essences quite well from others of the supernatural world. Are you a witch? Have you put some kind of spell on me? I can’t get you out of my head and then you keep popping into my dreams. You have to be a witch, ...or a demon. They are the only souls I know who are able to dream crash.”

Cassie scoffs at me, “you’re freaking mental dude. There are no such things as witches and demons or the supernatural for that matter. What’s your name anyway? You know mine and have kissed me. I think it only fair that I know your name too.” She arches an eyebrow waiting for me to respond.

“My name? My name is Rimmon, but my friends call me Rim.” I say friends like I have more than one, and really Samael is the only being I would actually consider to be my friend.

“I’ve never heard of someone with that name before. Is it a family name? It’s um, quite unique...” she trails off unsure of what to say next.

“I’ve never heard of someone with that name before. Is it a family name? It’s um, quite unique...” she trails off unsure of what to say next.

“Oh, well, I like it. I wish my parents would have given me a neat name like yours. Cassandra sounds so prim and proper. I can’t stand it.” She looks up, off towards the ceiling wistfully.

Staring at her I am stunned to think she doesn’t like her name. “Personally, I think it’s a beautiful name...” offering her a half grin, I finally stand from my perch upon the steps. I am now mere inches away from her beautiful lips and I’m dying to take her in my arms and kiss her again!

Before I can do so, she steps back away from me and peers into my eyes as though trying to analyze me. “Hold up, you distracted me from my thoughts.” Cassie throws a hand up, in front of my face. “What was all that talk about the supernatural world and witches and stuff? You don’t really believe in that crap, do you?”

She has caught me off guard by asking me this. “I, I...” stuttering I try to figure out how to answer her. “Well to an extent yes. Don’t you?” A sly grin crosses my face as I ask her, “are you saying you don’t believe in magic?” I do my best to avoid giving her an answer by redirecting the question towards her. Before she can say anything else, I abruptly wake from the dream. “Damn it,” I mutter as I sit up in the bed.
