Hearing the noise, Jerry emerged with a spatula in hand. 

Hearing Victoria trailing after Sarah, he yelled out to them, “Head to the dining table and take a seat. I’ll bring you some scrumptious grub shortly!” 

The kitchen was filled with a delightful aroma. Sarah inhaled it with delight and said to Victoria with a cheerful expression, “You’re in for a treat!” 

Sarah’s father, once a chef, became wealthy and was then served by a team of people, no longer enjoying the act of cooking. 

He was most proud of having cooked the favorite food of his wife and daughter in his life. 

In fact, Sarah’s family was similar to Victoria’s, with her father in a weak position and her mother a daughter of a wealthy family. 

But the contrast was that her father was ungrateful, whereas Sarah’s father was a kind man who genuinely adored his wife and daughter. 

After Sarah’s mother passed away, Jerry never took another wife; there was no sign of a female presence in his life. 

When he was young. he was a handsome man. But after his wife passed away, he lost the will to maintain his appearance, and now he’s a middle–aged, fat man. Yet, he still looks kind and gentle. 

Victoria had been eagerly anticipating her first taste of his cooking in a long time. 

Putting the bad things to the back of her mind, her phone suddenly rang. 

Glancing at the caller ID, her eyes flashed as she quickly muted her phone and declined to answer. 

this time it was a text message.After a while, the phone buzzed again this time it was a text. 

“Why didn’t you get it? Was it Matthew?” Sarah looked at her skeptically. 

“No.” 

Victoria shook her head and smiled at her, saying, Tm going take care of it.” 

“Go ahead,” Sarah said, looking over her shoulder with a hint of apprehension. 

Soon after, Jerry was assisted by the housekeeper in serving the dishes. 

Sarah found the food delicious, making her even hungrier! 

Just as she was about to eat, Jerry smacked her hand with his chopsticks. “Victoria, you haven’t even taken a seat yet. What are you thinking of eating? Could you act like a proper host?” 

Wearing an apron, he didn’t appear to be an all–powerful big boss, but rather an ordinary father in an ordinary family. 

“Do I need to be so polite‘ in my relationship with Victoria?” Saralı stammered. 

Even though she said that, she still rose to call Victoria for dinner. 

From a distance, she heard her arguing with someone on the balcony. 

“I won’t return!” 

Victoria took a deep breath and declared to the person on the other side of the line, “I have already made my position. abundantly clear. If you do not wish to acknowledge me as your daughter, then do not reach out to me again!“ 

“Are you seriously considering cutting off our relationship?” 

On the other side of the line, Bruce’s voice was full of ire. “I’m aware that you have misinterpreted us. Even if you’re displeased with me, you can’t take it out on Anya!”

“Dad, in your heart, do you consider her your daughter, or am I your daughter?” Victoria suddenly felt a little weary.
