Chapter 1 

It was the first time Victoria Nelson had come to a place like this. 

Amidst the dazzling lights and lively atmosphere, men and women were reveling in the vibrant ambiance. 

She was holding a thermos cup in her hand, which contained the soup that had been boiled for four hours for Matthew Shadwell. 

Today was her birthday. 

A few hours ago, Matthew had sent her a text expressing his desire to drink the soup she had cooked personally. Victoria felt flattered, so she went to the market after retuming from school and carefully chose the freshest ingredients. She had been occupied over that soup for a few hours. 

But Matthew did not come back. 

She called him many times, but he did not pick up. In the end, he only sent her a location. Only then did she come to this place. 

At first, she did not want to come in. Cloud Nine was a place where the upper class enjoyed themselves. She had never been there and did not want to 

enter. 

Victoria called Matthew and sent a text message, yet there was no response. 

Glancing at the thermos, she realized it was almost midnight and her birthday was quickly slipping away. Sighing, she stepped inside. 

Before this, she had not talked to Matthew for a whole week. 

She could have ignored the rumors about him and the female celebrity online, but last month, when he showed up at their school in his luxury car to pick up a female classmate in front of everyone, it was too much for her to bear. 

However, Matthew would not take this matter to heart, much less explain it to her. 

Victoria’s cold war was a one–sided self–inflicted ordeal. 

Today was her birthday, and she had hoped that hearing him wish her a Happy Birthday would be enough to make her day. 

The waitress in Cloud Nine was very astute in assessing people by their outward appearance. She only took one look at her dress and her eyes immediately displayed disdain. “What seems to be the problem, Miss?” 

Victoria reported the private room number that Matthew had given her and was waiting for the waitress to guide her. The waitress was perplexed and inquired, “Are you certain it’s this particular private room number?” 

Room 7 had always been an imperial private room, the most distinguished area in Cloud Nine, not something that ordinary rich people could make an appointment with. 

She gazed at Victoria’s dress: a simple, pristine white short–sleeved shirt and a pair of faded cow pants. Her figure was slender and lithe, yet her plain and delicate face seemed to exude the aura of a poor student no matter how she looked at it. 

“I’m here to look for someone.” 

“Wait here. I’ll go in and ask. The waitress was still suspicious. 

When she returned, she changed her face. “Ms. Nelson, is it? Please follow me. Mr. Shadwell has been waiting for you for a long time.” 

As she spoke, she guided the way. 

Victoria did not say anything and quietly followed behind her. 

Many people were not very enthusiastic when they first saw her, but as soon as Matthew spoke, their expressions changed drastically. 

She was already used to it. 

Passing through the jade–white corridor, Victoria felt a little uncomfortable in the extravagant lighting. 

She followed the waiter to the relief door of a golden caltrop–style, and just as she stood still, the door creaked open- 

Matthew’s cold and handsome face appeared in front of her eyes, his eyes slightly raised, with a little indifference. 

Victoria raised the thermos cup in her hand and was just about to say something when she was directly pulled in. 

Her back hit the cold wall and she helplessly raised the thermos cup in the light before being kissed by Matthew. 

The waitress closed the door and left silently. 

Matthew was very anxious, as if he was in a rush to vent something. His body was unusually warm, his voice was deep and raspy, and he gave a stern command, “Open!” 

“What’s wrong with you? Did you eat something unclean…” 

In the past, he was very resolute on this matter, but he wouldn’t overlook the occasion. She could only think of this explanation.
