Remington had just approached the entrance to the banquet hall when the doors burst open, and Cassius stormed out, immediately grabbing Remington by the collar of his shirt.
Fiona had just calmed the guests down and stepped off the stage when her blood pressure shot up.
He and Timothy had helped her to the resting room, only then learning about Yolanda's accident.
Remington's handsome face was cold as ice, his eyes shadowed with turmoil, "Back off!"
Seeing Cassius and Remington looking ready to tear into each other, Timothy pulled Cassius aside, saying, "You better head to the hospital, Yolanda's in trouble, and it's not like Remi wanted any of this to happen."
The wedding turning into a disaster, both Remington and Lizetta were undoubtedly hurting.
Cassius hurried off. Timothy lagged behind, "Remi, where the heck have you been?"
Remington's thin lips slightly clamped; after a moment, he replied, "Stella's back."
Understanding dawned on Timothy; his expression was a mix of emotions before he finally spoke,
"No wonder. But today was supposed to be your and Lizetta's big day. No matter the reason, Remi, you've gone too far! Lizetta's heartbroken, and she won't forgive you easily."
Seeing Remington's gloomy demeanor and tight jaw, Timothy didn't press further, clapping him on the shoulder, "Mrs. Fiona Dashiell's furious, Remi. You should check on her." With Timothy gone, Remington strode into the banquet hall.
The hall was beautifully decorated, adorned with fresh roses, setting a romantic and sweet atmosphere.
The flowers still had morning dew on them, and the wine was fragrant. But the guests had all left, and the empty hall echoed with an overwhelming silence.
Remington walked onto the stage, a solitary figure.
He glanced at the spot beside him, almost seeing Lizetta in her wedding dress, smiling brightly under her veil.
Remington's lips moved slightly, his voice hoarse, "Honey, I'm sorry. I love you."
But she was gone, and the wedding was over. The only response was Ray's footsteps.
"Sir, Mrs. Hanna Dashiell and Ms. Hawthorne have been located. Mrs. Dashiell has returned to Riverbend Abbey, and Ms. Hawthorne went to the hospital. She should be in Barbara's ward by now. Also, we found the waiter who messed with the equipment and uploaded the diary."
Remington's expression was as cool as ever, his gaze heavy; he instructed, "Keep an eye on them; I'll interrogate them myself later. Go to Riverbend Abbey and bring Mrs. Dashiell to the hospital." Ray nodded, turned to leave, and then cast a glance back.
Remington's tall figure had vanished from the stage, stepping through the side door with his usual brisk, composed stride, showing no sign of disturbance.
Of course, a man like Mr. Remington Dashiell, always in control. How could he possibly lose his composure, standing on stage talking to himself? He must've been mistaken.
When Remington arrived at Fiona's resting room, the doctor had already left, and Nathan was by the old lady's side.
"Grandma Fiona, how're you feeling?" Remington approached quickly.
Upon seeing him, Fiona couldn't contain her anger, bellowing, "Why are you even here?! Better if you never came back. I'd rather find Liz a nice man to marry than let her be heartbroken by you over and over!" Nathan frowned, "Mom, it's not Remington's fault this happened. In the end, it was Lizetta's diary that caused all this.
If their hearts weren't in it, they should never have been forced together over that incident. In my opinion, now that the wedding's off, just let them go their separate ways."
Fiona could feel her blood pressure rising again. Then, Remington spoke firmly, "I won't get a divorce!"
Nathan scowled, "In front of all the guests, Lizetta practically crowned you with a cuckold's horns, and you still won't divorce! Have you lost your mind?"
