She understood his guilt towards the West family and could grasp why he made the choices he did in those circumstances. So, she couldn't really be mad at him.

Deep down, she harbored a wishful thought that no matter the situation, the man she loved would always put her feelings first.

But clearly, she hadn't yet earned that place in his heart.

And the moment he agreed to Barbara's request, Lizetta realized something.

That was, Remington carried a heavy burden of sin and guilt towards the West family.

To love him was to accept all of him, including his past and the sins that came with it.

This meant that whenever Stella and the West family came into the picture, she might never be his first priority.

It was a sad realization.

Not ready to accept this yet, she found herself avoiding him, unable to hide her disappointment and the bitter taste it left in her heart.

But even with this understanding, she couldn't help but love him still.

So, she spent the night digesting her feelings.

Even seeing him exhausted, she couldn't bring herself to make a fuss.

Suddenly, Remington flipped over, and pinned Lizetta beneath him.

He had his arms prop beside her, not pressing down but still overwhelming her with his presence.

He gazed into her eyes; the depth of his gaze seemed to sparkle.

"Husband? Since you admit I'm your husband, why do you never call me 'husband' properly?"

She hadn't responded to his calls earlier.

Not mad at him?

He could tell she was keeping her annoyance bottled up.

Lizetta's cheeks heated under his stare; she felt a mix of embarrassment and annoyance as she pushed against him. "You haven't even passed your probation period. Calling you 'husband'? Dream on."

Remington, mindful of the baby she was carrying, was easily pushed away.

As Lizetta attempted to leave the bed, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her back into his embrace.

He kissed her forehead tenderly, and said with a deep voice, "I'm sorry for making my little girl feel neglected yesterday." Lizetta's eyes warmed at his words.

She leaned against his chest, moving her head slightly, "So, when Barbara wakes up, what's your plan?"

Remington pinched her cheek, "Don't worry, once godmother wakes up, I'll clarify things with her."

"How will you clarify?" Lizetta looked up at him.

Knowing Barbara's stubbornness from yesterday, it wasn't going to be easy to convince her.

Remington raised an eyebrow, "There is a way, but it needs Mrs. Dashiell's cooperation. I wonder if Mrs. Dashiell would be willing to help." Lizetta was surprised, "What way?"

Without answering, Remington suddenly turned to pull open the bedside drawer.

Before Lizetta could wonder what he was doing, he took her hand.

She felt a cool touch on her finger and looked down, only to see Remington slipping a wedding ring onto her finger.

"We'll show godmother our love, make her see how strong our bond is, and she'll naturally give up."

Lizetta was skeptical, suspecting he was using this as another opportunity to charm her.

Looking at the wedding ring back on her finger, she felt her emotions mixed, "Will she really understand? What if she doesn't?"

Remington held Lizetta's hand, bringing it to his lips, and kissed the ring gently.

"Then, it means we need a grand wedding."

Lizetta's eyes widened in disbelief.

She wondered if she had heard him wrong.

Was he talking about a wedding?

Was he planning to give her a wedding, one that belonged to just the two of them?
